NDN using our allocated parking space, not their own!

NDNUsingOurAllocatedParking · 12/08/2026 11:05

Our neighbours have started using our allocated parking space instead of their own allocated parking space.

We've spoken to them but they have continued. The view of their space is not a clear line of vision.

What to do next???

Lockable folding parking bollard. Less than £100. Job done.

Mulledjuice · 12/08/2026 11:24

How is this complicated? Bollard + done.

I'm a regular from the Pom Bear days, I know how much you all love a diagram, that's why I'm here, but no can do@theemmadilemma

But it would only be associated with this name change, and they already know you're pissed off about it!

Diagram!
(Please 🙏 😁)

Think they're trying to exploit visitor loophole

What loophole? Presumably if theirs is empty then it's not like it's so they can put visitors in it?

How many spaces/cars do you each have? Could you borrow a car to just leave in your space for a bit to force them back into theirs? Could you just park in theirs?

What did you actually say to them? What was their reply? Is your space in a better location/more visible or something? Not that it makes it ok, just trying to understand why they are doing it!

Alternatively I would consider going and knocking every single time you need them to move and asking them to come and move their car, whatever time of day or night. Make it inconvenient enough that they stop doing it.

gemsgv · 12/08/2026 11:27

I'm guessing your space is better/easier than theirs and they are hoping you'll retaliate by using their space and therefore swapping

There you are

Deepinschoolholidays · 12/08/2026 11:28

Do you both have gardens? If so start using theirs.

theemmadilemma · 12/08/2026 11:35

Do you have a car?

I don't miss the whole allocated parking shite. I used to go 0-100 when I went to pull in my 2nd space and found someone in it.

Eventually one person decided to number theirs, and then everyone did, and added little 'Private parking - no 13 only' type notices. Not that it always helped.

Pulledbluecurtain · 12/08/2026 11:38

What did they say when you spoke to them about it?

What does this mean?

What did they say when you spoke to them about it?

MajorProcrastination · 12/08/2026 11:43

I'd start getting petty AF. Get one of those big toy sit-in cars and park it in your spot when you're out and about.

Does it have your house number on a sign or the ground? Are you able to repaint over it or put up a bigger sign?

I live in a terraced house so there are no rules in our on street parking. It does get really annoying but there's nothing I can do about it.

Cherrysoup · 12/08/2026 11:46

I’d go round every single time and get them to move.

Whattodo1610 · 12/08/2026 11:49

Knock every single time and ask them to move. If they don’t, just go park in their space 🤷‍♀️

StormGazing · 12/08/2026 11:49

Block them in (if you can … can’t tell without a diagram!)

GenePool · 12/08/2026 11:57

Get a friends that is going on holiday to lend you their car - then park that car in your space for the entire holiday and park in their space instead

Gardenisablooming · 12/08/2026 11:59

Just knock every time and ask them to move it. Park outside their door /window until they do.

Girlwithavibe · 12/08/2026 12:01

NDNUsingOurAllocatedParking · 12/08/2026 11:18

Yes, they are using ours but leaving their own empty.

We use ours all the time, we're always coming and going.

You use theirs then simple!

Harrumphhhh · 12/08/2026 12:04

Gardenisablooming · 12/08/2026 11:59

Yep. This. Knock every single time. They’ll get bored of moving.

Mumtotornadoes · 12/08/2026 12:04

Park in front of them and block them in.

Chewbecca · 12/08/2026 12:04

Why not put a bollard in?

2026letsgo · 12/08/2026 12:06

Girlwithavibe · 12/08/2026 12:01

You use theirs then simple!

But then that sets the expectation that’s it ok. Which it isn’t and when they want theirs back at some point, visitors and the like, Op will have to move for them

PS5Gamer · 12/08/2026 12:06

Girlwithavibe · 12/08/2026 12:01

Not simple!

I would want to park my car in my allocated parking spot, not have CF neighbour parking in it as it suits them better.

Elsvieta · 12/08/2026 12:06

Block them in just once, they'll soon knock it off.

SoggySaggySocks · 12/08/2026 12:07

No diagram = no advice. Them's the rules.

Yourethebeerthief · 12/08/2026 12:09

NDNUsingOurAllocatedParking · 12/08/2026 11:15

Diagram would be a corker, but so outing.

What a lot of bollocks. Why do people think so much of their lives that they think any shitty little mundane detail is “outing”.

Christ alive, do you forget how big the country is and how many people live here?
