To agree with Andy Burnham that it’s about time the middle classes took their fair share

Not a huge fan of Labour I must say, but this is well overdue!

We are going to end up in a civil war situation.
I can see no other alternative at this point.

Labour are point blank refusing to listen to the people. They are delberately inflaming the situation, and there are tens of millions of seriously angry people that have had enough of ALL classes already.

We have run out prison space
We have run out of hospital space for basic operations such as joint replacements (3 year wait in some areas)
The roads are congested 247 and impassable
Housing is at breaking point
Social care is at breaking point
Even basic infrastructure such as waste is at breaking point

And Andy's great idea is simply to spread them out a bit more and lose the remaining base support of Labour (middle class lefties that have a shock coming to them) and not to address the root issue.

He is so fucking out of touch it is honestly a national embarrassment. He has spent decades living in a northern echo chamber and it shows.

I say go ahead Andy, do your worst, this will be the fastest route to a general election!

Both of you seem well versed and articulate but to don't seem to see any issues. I'd really like to hear your take on what is happening in my village, as it isn't just one (or two) asylum hotels but a massive large scale camp in a tiny village.

The government proposal is to house 1500 single men in an ex military base in a village of 700. The base isn't isolated it is right in the heart of the village. The village is around 10 miles from the nearest town. There is a pub, a play park and a shop. The asylum seekers will stay around 2 months and then be moved on so actually the people staying will be transient and there will be 1000s of men passing through the village.

It will be purely men. I think the scale of something this size with nothing to do will be a disaster. The residents of the village will be outnumbered 2 to 1. There will be no interesting restaurants set up as it will be a completely transient population.

Do you think I should be fine with this? At present my children walk to school and go out on their bikes til it gets dark. I feel like our lives are going to change hugely. The government is also using emergency powers to avoid any democratic process.

With that amount of men passing through I think I will have to change my and my children's behaviour.

I think it is such a fundamental change to a community and the village in my opinion is being used a collateral damage.

I'd really like to know your view on the effects on the village/community on this plan as you seem to be quite positive about asylum seekers etc. Do you think it is problematic? (And specifically what do you think someone like me who lives here should do?)

Illegal immigration needs to be stopped. I cant believe how many governments have failed in this.

It needs repeating. The 'British', whoever they are, deserve all this, as a job lot because of what 'we' did

Agree but the thing is, there are lots of NIMBYs who say we should take them all and more, but they want them in poorer areas and disagree if there’s a chance they’re housed near them.

When asylum seekers are housed in WC areas, the argument goes "WC people are already living in deprived areas. This is making things worse because its stretching scarce resources. The government doesnt care about WC people and isn't listening"
Now the PM has acknowledged the problem and said he's not going to spread them amongst other areas, he "Hates the middle class".
Nobody but a fool could think that he can simply deport them all with immediate effect or prevent any arrivals straight away. Meanwhile they've got to go somewhere.
The hypocrisy of those who have used "the poor WC" as their trump card, now spouting about "the hated middle class" is noted.
And not just the hypocrisy, the inaccuracy. Its well know that left wing support comes heavily from the educated middle classes. 65% of those who vote for left wing parties are middle class, while 53% of Reform support comes from the WC.
The days of left and right as reflective of social class are long gone, and "hating the MC" would be foolish in the extreme for a Labour PM. Which suggests he is acting on principle of what he feels is best rather than motivated to bite the hands that feed him.

I am utterly sick of the delusion that we can carry on this like this.

At this point I wonder if half the civil service and Labour are being paid by Russia or China to implode this country from the inside, who in their right mind would think this idea is a solution to serious overcrowding and and endless, uncontrolled stream of illegal men pouring into this country??????????

By saying this, Burnham has admitted having asylum seekers In your community is not a positive thing and the burden needs to be shared.

By doing this, the wealthy NIMBYs will realise the reality of what the poorer people have been putting up with and complaining about for a while. They perhaps won’t sneer and call all those against it ‘racist and uneducated’ anymore.

Stopping the boats’ will become a bigger issue for the public than it already is and Burnham and government will be under more pressure than ever.

Having worked in an inner city school, the white working class boys were the ones running around the building kicking doors, throwing tables and chairs at people, damaging equipment, swearing and being homophobic and racist. The non white British and non British born children were the ones behaving and working hard.

I just thought what a weird thing to say. Is it a working class inferiority complex thing talking about "middle classes" with such spite? And why should anyone in England "play their part"? It's got nothing to do with us, of course no-one wants illegal migrants living nearby. We expect Andy Burnham to play his part as PM and get rid of them.

Surely the right thing to do is to acknowledge the huge immigration issues we all face and tell the country Labour are determined to change the law, pull us out of the ECHR and actually deport all illegals. That would have given Burnham the respect of most of the country, and killed off reform and restore's momentous gains, but no, back to the 1970s we go with water and power failures, recession. IMF bailout and another 2/3 millions illegal arrivals. Andy Burnham is going to finish this country off unless we can get him out.

I just want to say that I sympathise with your situation. With the best will in the world, it's going to impact your village. I am sure that some of these men are genuine and law abiding and just want to settle and get jobs. However, some will be chancers, criminals and opportunists. Many of them have been socialised in countries where girls and women have no status and no rights. Large groups of men hanging around with nothing to do is a bad idea.
I'm sure you've contacted your MP, so good luck with any measures taken. When is this going to happen?

Hotels are closing. That is government policy to make the public believe that the govt is doing something positive. However, the residents of these hotels are simply being moved down the road to HMOs or social housing or army/raf barracks. It is not acceptable. Europe is safe. We all travel to Europe for our holidays. So why come to the U.K.? Free housing, health, education, elderly care, benefits. That’s why.
