DH-same PJs, no pants, 7 days… am I overrea

Yousay55 · 06/08/2026 22:48

My dh goes to bed in the same pjs every night -washes them once or twice a week and doesn’t wear anything underneath. We’re on holiday and hasn’t washed them in a week now.
I think it’s pretty awful to wear the same ones without washing them and can’t imagine putting on the same pjs at the end of the day. We’ve had a debate and he thinks it’s what all men do. I think I’m going to buy him a pair to wear everyday day so this doesn’t keep happening!

I mostly sleep standing up by the side of the bed and then get the carpet cleaned each morning.

😂😂😂

Personally I get up at 2am to shower and change my pjs before sleeping for the rest of the night. Can’t imagine how gross I would feel otherwise 🤢

Is this genuine or joke? If genuine, do you do that all year round?

ScarlettSarah · Yesterday 09:49

I think pyjamas for men are coming back into fashion... my 15yo DS wears them (NOT the type with a collar, mind... his are more akin to loungewear).

KeenLemonPanda · Yesterday 09:50

You lost me at a man wearing pyjamas. Instant ick

It's very tedious

Yay, the party fun gerlz have arrived. 🥳

I have thought wearing pyjamas for one week is a normal thing to do. Until I realised that most British people dont shower/bath in the evening. Thats what I find gross. If you have a shower or bath in the evening then wearing the same pyjamas for a week is absolutely fine.

See I have never really understood having a shower in the evening before you go to bed . You’re just going to get slightly sticky in the night so a morning shower definitely to set you up for the day. A night time one seems a bit of a waste almost, you’re just going to bed !
Im too bloody knackered at the end of the day anyway, I aim to get into bed as fast as possible.

In the past an evening shower was fine for me, I didn’t sweat, but now that I’m heading towards menopause I sweat much more. I couldn’t leave the house without a morning shower.

The hamza suit has been changed and the old one incinerated. Time to cover this one in bleach.

I wish we had a laughing emoji.

I'm not sure that would bother me tbh. Neither of us sleep with any sort of pyjamas. How is that different, as we don't change our bodies every evening? I have one set of pyjamas that I take if I am visiting someone else's house and depending on how long I'm there for, I'd happily wear it for a week before washing.

You don’t change your bodies ?! I have reserve ones growing in bell jars in my garden shed so that I can literally have a clean body each night

dickiedavisthunderthighs · Yesterday 09:57

This thread is glorious.

AlwaysExtraHot · Yesterday 09:57

I know this isn't the point, but could someone clear up a related issue for me?
Is it correct to wear underwear with PJ trousers, or no underwear? I think you wear it but my DP is adamant that PJs with underwear is weird.

ilovepuppies2019 · Yesterday 09:58

Anon501178 · Yesterday 04:23

How can a man wearing pyjamas give you the 'ick' more than a man sleeping naked with dirty genitals and bum exposed?! Because even showering daily, this time of year especially that area gets sweaty and also genitals and bum are only clean after a shower until the next wee/poo/sexual act 🤮

I think this to. A man sleeping naked with his butt crack rubbing straight onto the sheets is much worse than PJs. Why are they okay for women but gross for men?

Definitely weird. Two layers of fabric heating me up, no thanks !

Lentilcakes · Yesterday 09:59

I think it used to be common in the 70s/80s to do this. As a child I never wore knickers under pjs or a nightie unless I was on (as a teen). Now I think - how odd! My mum only did a wash once a week. No-one died but it seems odd now (she also boiled my dad’s snotty hankies on the job so really times have changed!!).

Shinyandnew1 · Yesterday 10:01

So he’s got one pair of pyjamas that he wears all the time but usually washes them twice a week. That’s ok.

Buy him another pair or two though-problem solved?

I cant decide if this is satire or actual MN madness as I’ve read some truly loopy things on here before about hygiene issues 🤣🤣🤣

I'll have to try that. Which stem cells do you use and how long does it take for a complete set to grow (need to know how many bell jars I need to get)?

This thread is brilliant, absolutely hilarious! 😂

Can I be the only oldie who as I read the competitive hygiene posts hear Monty Python voices, akin to the 4 Yorkshiremen sketch.

My late OH had 'visiting pjs' for when he had to go to the bathroom during the night in someone else's house!

But where is the problem in using 😂😂?

Or even 😹?

Because it means replying to each & every poster I/anyone finds funny & no one has time for that or wants to see 30x a replies quoting just to laugh & clogging up the thread

@CypressMoon someone got their knickers in a twist ages ago & thought the laughter emoji meant people were spitefully laughing at them/others rather than taking it in the spirit in which it was intended.. I usually just use the heart emoji now

I’m now wondering if I could grow myself with longer legs and a smaller bust ?

AffableApple · Yesterday 10:41

This thread is hilarious.

But, yes, wearing the same PJs, without pants, for a week, is really disgusting.

I can smell them from here

Gfe27 · Yesterday 10:44

Amazed I got to the bottom of page two without a mention of the quintessentially Mumsnet “poo particles” but I did skim read.

But no pants and in pyjamas for at least six hours a night x 7 is too much, yes. I will wear PJs for a couple of nights if I wear knickers under them. I also shower every night just before bed. I’ll get my coat…

TheCurious0range · Yesterday 10:45

Floatlikeafeather2 · 06/08/2026 22:51

He's wrong. It's not what all men do. I can say this because I don't know a single man (not exaggerating) who wears pyjamas.

My husband does! Even if it's just a pair of PJ shorts

Just thinking about it my mum had 4 kids and washed once a week. Knickers in bed alone would mean two pairs a day each times 6 people times 7 days 😳 ! 84 pairs a week good grief ! That definitely didn’t happen . Washing day was an all day event, twin tub that drained into the sink . Long wooden tongues lifting sodden washing into the dryer. Tuesday was ironing day. We are so lucky with our automatic machines. Not surprisingly we re wore things more than once !
