It depends on what I want an answer to
Kitchen planning, for example, I’d always choose MN as those posting will have lived with the consequences of their choices (good & bad!)
I asked about washing dog toys recently. ChatGPT had given me a perspective but, again, I wanted practical experience and got just that, both the incredulous “life is too short” and the “this is what I do and it works for me”.

So if.you search does chatgpt use mumsnet- yes it does it will use public answers to formulate what you ask, to answer

Chat GPT is pretty good at reading comprehension, which cannot be said for all posters on Mumsnet. You see a lot of posts asking for info provided in the OP.

It is also less vitriolic and convinced it’s right than many human beings.

There are posters on Mumsnet who give advice to ignore what OP has been told to do by Doctors or 111. I think this is pretty dangerous, as posters asking about medical issues are usually in a somewhat vulnerable state and might listen.

No I disagree, mumsnet is an awful place especially for advice and very very judgemental!

I find it only tells me what I want to hear. A people pleaser.

ChatGPT is full of absolute shite. But people blindly buy into it the same as they do horoscopes.

And it really pisses me off when someone posts asking for opinions or advice and people take it upon themselves to post ChatGPT bullshit like it's their unique perspective. People are losing all capacity to think for themselves and it isn't helpful to anyone.

Yes this one- is the comfort of ChatGPT better? And do we believe it has 'the facts'? I think we know individuals on mumsnet have individual experiences but why is chatgpt some agnostic truth?

Well obviously. But again, cases are needed in a court of law. In real life, A barrister or multiple barristers have already cited made up cases in front of a judge.

so are you suggesting a lay person should pay a solicitor to use chat gpt and quote made up cases rather than doing it yourself for no money? What’s the difference?

plus, in the 2 court cases I have won - thanks to chat GPT 😀 (and my own brains) zero quoting of cares was required.

all I needed to do was quote the law to the judge, not suggest some cases to advise them how to interpret it.

lay people are also overwhelmingly using chat for less complex legal advice.

Plus I have issues with the morality of it stealing people’s work and its use to by pass actual experts. And the environmental issues, obviously. Is literally never use it for anything. I get cross with the AI summaries on google and everywhere else now too. It’s unnecessary and harmful.

But you’re capable of checking it, right? Using chat got doesn’t mean you lose your brain.

Case law isn’t people’s work. It’s a published public record

I don’t want to use it for all the other reasons I said. It’s immoral that it steals everyone’s work and it’s environmentally destructive. To be inaccurate and untrustworthy on top makes it a no.
