To just want it to be autumn now?

I hate the depths of winter (January and February) with a passion, but my god I am craving those lovely September days where it’s not so hot you feel sweaty by 8am, and you're able to walk around without feeling disgusting.

I want soups and stews and pies back on the menu instead of pasta and salads, I want a piping hot bowl of leek and potato soup with a crusty bit of bread, a steak and ale pie with a helping of buttery mash, a roast dinner.

I’m sick of wearing dresses and sandals, I have a Birkenstock tan line ffs. I want to get into bed and feel cosy, not just have a sheet over the top of me. I’m craving a cosy autumn afternoon, a nice walk through orange woods and coming back to a lovely bowl of stew with a helping of crusty bread, tucked under a blanket reading a book.

I’m just bloody sick of summer!

I am in the NW of England and apart from a couple of weeks in June, we have had temps of 18 degrees here, grey and drizzly so I absolutely dont want it to be Autumn as Im waiting for summer to start up again!

Get out of here with your facts!

So facts are important to you then @Crushed23?

I’m in London this week where it has been too cold to dine outside at night and I have to wear a jacket from about 8pm

Well upthread you said you were back & forth to London…but I’m not sure why the above means it’s only the odd day that has been 30 degrees & why you know better vs the Met office re heat waves. 🤔

Mumsnet is somewhat Londoncentric.

There is no denying that we have had a lot more hot weather in Yorkshire than normal this year though - only three heatwaves instead of five. It has been extremely dry, and the grass everywhere is like straw.

I'm sorry you are missing out though. DD lives in Liverpool and during the extremely hot weather it has been hotter there than where we are.

I have been back and forth to London. Would you like me to detail my itinerary?

I’m really not sure what the issue is. I have been unlucky enough to miss the hot days in London and feel disappointed with that. Obviously I shouldn’t have got my hopes up, but I did. London in hot weather (my definition of hot weather where I don’t need a jacket at 8pm…) is absolutely glorious, I miss it.

How do you still not get it?

Nobody cares about your made up definition, that’s the point 😆😆

Well I care 😂

This whole debate is all about personal preference! Some people want autumnal weather and the cosy feeling of sleeping under a blanket (as evidenced by this thread), others like me love hot weather where I can wear a summer dress all day and have dinner outside without feeling cold.

And don’t get me started on how I keep missing the hot weather. 3 separate trips and disappointing weather each time (again, in my opinion). I’ve told DH we’ll be booking last minute next year instead of months ahead.

I have zero issue with personal preference, I simply took umbrage with the bits you made up!

Anyway I’m off to enjoy the sun with a friend now so put your phone down & put your jacket on & enjoy your holiday @Crushed23
