To just want it to be autumn now?

I hate the depths of winter (January and February) with a passion, but my god I am craving those lovely September days where it’s not so hot you feel sweaty by 8am, and you're able to walk around without feeling disgusting.

I want soups and stews and pies back on the menu instead of pasta and salads, I want a piping hot bowl of leek and potato soup with a crusty bit of bread, a steak and ale pie with a helping of buttery mash, a roast dinner.

I’m sick of wearing dresses and sandals, I have a Birkenstock tan line ffs. I want to get into bed and feel cosy, not just have a sheet over the top of me. I’m craving a cosy autumn afternoon, a nice walk through orange woods and coming back to a lovely bowl of stew with a helping of crusty bread, tucked under a blanket reading a book.

I’m just bloody sick of summer!

Cambridgeshire here, it's been relentless. It's not properly rained since May (and i mean a proper downpour, not two minutes of a light shower)

Having to wake up at 4am to get the dog walked because it's already 20+ degrees at 6am and it's so muggy and humid. Then dragging myself to the gym before work because all my energy has evaporated by lunchtime.

This summer has been the biggest trigger for my SAD, I spend most days questioning what the point of life is if it's just going to be utterly miserable with weather like this that never seems to end.

And it's not "just summer", the country is on fire. We've been placed on our first hosepipe ban in thirty years, everything is just dead (aside from the weeds that I don't have the energy to remove). There's not a single good thing about it.

I’m in Cambridgeshire too. It rained pretty much incessantly for the first two weeks in June and was relatively cold. Our dogs are being walked very happily and running around like lunatics at 10am.

It’s been a beautiful day today. Sunny with a gentle breeze. The garden is looking glorious because I water with a watering can.

I usually love the summer, but this has been relentless! I miss being able to go out with my dog whenever I want, I now have to get up really early to walk her, I miss the spontaneity and I’m always worried she’ll overheat. Looking forward to Autumn, which hopefully won’t be overly warm.

It’s been 26 in my part of Yorkshire today with a toney attempt at raining. It was too hot when I went for a run and I had to significantly slow down and felt rubbish.

Just about cool enough now to walk the dog.

DP would still be in shorts and tshirt at 13 degrees, but he’s born and bred Yorkshire and only wears trousers for a few weeks of the year 😂

its been 14C here (scotland) and will be all week. cloudy and drizzly currently. trees are beginning to wilt and change colour just slightly and shops have autumn lines on display now. bring on another heat wave.

I am not looking forward to having to go everywhere in the pouring rain and wind. It’s awful having to walk in wet, windy, weather. Add to that icy pavements and it’s hell. Having to drag out a hat, scarf, big coat and gloves, plus suitable footwear with a 10 inch flaming grip on the soles is depressing. Not to mention the treacherous driving conditions. I nearly broke my neck one early winter day just stepping out of my front door and on to the pavement, it was covered in black ice. How on earth can anyone prefer that to a hot day?
It’s all fine and dandy if you don’t have to commute to work but not if you are forced to go outside.

I've already been eyeing up autumn bunting to stick around my front room, and mood lights. Also some nice new jumpers

The only thing that takes the glow out of autumn is that I used to live in a large house with a log burner on the edge of a forest, now I live in a bungalow with a damp problem (still a nice area though)

18 degrees in August is depressing, isn’t it. We’re back in London and that was the temperature last night as we left the theatre. We wanted to mooch around after, but it was no fun walking when it was that cold and windy so we headed back. I’m on my way to the gym this morning and it’s freezing - literally wearing a hoodie. A hoodie in August 😩 I’ve had to change our dinner reservation for tonight to an indoor table. I’ve got no interest in freezing my arse off while socialising. We’ve accepted that we have to put our months of al-fresco dining on hiatus for a few days while we’re here. It’s just all so disappointing - especially knowing that it’s been warmer than this for weeks before our trip.

It’s hotting up again from Saturday here but we are visiting family in another part of the country which is cooler, can’t wait!

I don’t like summer anyway, but feels like it’s been summer since May. Pretty relentless heat and now serious drought.

@AmiacoolorwarmcolourI don’t love the rain but we desperately need it here. I don’t remember actually having that much last yr. I do hate icy pavements & roads but we are lucky to not get too much of that normally.

Try 12 degrees with a feels like 9 degrees in August … now that’s miserable 😢 Mind you, we might get a high of 15. And a gorgeous shade of grey sky.
