Jabs to lose 1.5 stone?

torquayturkey · 02/08/2026 12:45

I’m 5’7 and feel my best when I’m between 10.5-11st. A couple of years ago I had a really bad time with my mental health (ended up sectioned) and lost 3 stone, making me 9st and I looked too thin. I’m much better now and I’ve gained 3st - I’m now 12st 4 and feel disgusting.

is it worth trying a GLP-1 to lost the 1-2 stone? I’m mainly worried about the side effects eg vomiting and stomach pains. What is everyone’s experience? Thank you.

Everyone I know on them can’t eat at all, they feel sick and the thought of food makes them feel like vomiting. That doesn’t sound particularly pleasant to me. I’m also curious about what happens when people stop them- do they start eating properly again and regain the weight?

To me, they’re great for obese people with health conditions which is why they were created in the first place. They shouldn’t be used as yet another crash diet for lazy people who need to lose a couple of stone.

You lied? People like you will make it harder for other people to get the jabs.

Can you explain what you mean by this? Other people lying won’t make it harder for those who qualify to get their prescription, so do you mean it will make it harder for others who don’t meet the criteria? I can’t work out what you are trying to say.

Of course it's not true

If it was that easy to go on a strict diet, then no one would need the jabs, would they.

The OP needs to be careful with her healthy, but she's as allowed to use jabs as anyone else.

And again, no one is stopping people buying them when they "just" have 2 stones to lose.

Not remotely my experience nor that of the 12 or so people I know on Mounjaro.

I stoppped over a year ago and I’ve not gone back to mindless snacking (which was my reason for being overweight). I also continue to feel satiated quickly, so my meals tend to be on the small side.

olivecons · 02/08/2026 14:05

It was magic for me. Lost 2 stone in 6 months, not fast, but with no effort. Didn’t watch what I ate at all beyond ensuring I was eating nutritionally well (making effort to prioritise protein and fibre) didn’t count a calorie, didn’t deprive myself of anything I wanted.

If you’re not massively overweight chances are your diet isn’t too horrific so the jabs will just help you naturally make better decisions, but more easily. I’m choosing to stay on it, just a low dose, I’ve lost weight in the past but have never really managed to keep it off, it feels so freeing knowing this is just my weight now and I love it.

Alwaystired23 · 02/08/2026 14:06

I took manjaro for 3 weeks a couple of years ago, and I felt horrendous on them. I was re
ally unwell, nausea, feeling uncomfortably full, sulphur burps, stomach pains, and diarrhea the 3rd week. I've strarted the wegovy tablets, and so far have been fine so I am have ordered the injection, which I will do once I have finished the tablets. It's definitely helped with my sugar cravings. I've lost 6lb so far, and I'm 2 weeks in.

I have been on WLI for almost 2 years now and never experienced anything like you describe. As for what happens when you start ‘eating properly’ - how odd, I have never eaten so ‘properly’ in my entire life as I have since starting WLI. I don’t intend to stop using a medication that has such a positive impact on my health though, that would be plain stupid.

Na that’s daft, they’ve probably jumped up the doses too fast. I’ve just stayed on a low dose, I still experience hunger, I still really enjoy my food, I just don’t seem to eat out of boredom anymore or look to use food as a reward like I used to. I’m satiated faster so eating smaller portions.

This isn't my experience at all. And as to coming off them - I'm slowly titrating down and monitoring my calories and weight. I've halved my dose so far. I'll keep going until I am confident I'm at my lowest maintenance dose and then will stay there indefinitely. If I manage to come off them completely then awesome. If not, I won't.

That hasn't been my experience at all. I lost a stone in 2 months without changing my diet, it just reduced my appetite and stopped my chocolate cravings. I don't feel nauseous or have any other side effects. I think it's bloody amazing!

Why can't lazy people buy the jabs? How does this affect you?

I'm lazy when it comes to food and wegovy has worked wonderfully for me. Once I'm at my ideal weight I'll stop and maintain my weight because I was never an over eater in the first place. Why does losing weight need to be a struggle?

Because you must be PUNISHED for your lazy gluttony!! Grin

LuckyHazelFox · 02/08/2026 14:36

Gosh, what a coincidence. I signed up last night with Voy. I'm doing Wevgovy to go from 12st to 10.5 St. I'm 5'5. Expecting my first package in the week. have been getting depressed with the monthly menopausal bloats and my stomach area in general. I'm a good size 12 but want my clothes to fit better and not have to keep breathing in. I'm also worried about side effects but hopefully it will be worth it. We might not even get them!

Edited - wegovy!

LuckyHazelFox · 02/08/2026 14:42

All very well saying try the conventional way. I've been calorie counting and doing tai chi and strength training. I've managed to lose a bit of weight but the belly fat won't shift. I've reached stalemate. Great if you're not middle aged. I can afford the jabs so I'm going for it. Best of luck @torquayturkey

Cucurella · 02/08/2026 15:07

If you have had mental health issues then I think you need to think seriously about whether they are right for you. It doesn’t happen to everyone but I found that I felt very low the day after the jab, my mood was very flat and over the months I felt my senses were dulled. Although slim I felt quite depressed. It probably won’t happen but for you but for a couple of stone you should consider this a possibility.

I think you just need to look at the monthly threads on here or Reddit to know that’s highly unusual and certainly was not my experience, I’ve had no side effects, neither does my husband, like 80 percent of people.

so either you made that up, don’t really know anyone on it, or have an unusual cluster of reactions in your friendship group,

Gardenflowering · 02/08/2026 13:41

That’s great for you.
Its been a fucking torturous slog for me.
OP asked about side effects, this is my experience of having the side effects.

Poor you, that’s quite unusual I’d say, but some people don’t react well with the drugs, you must be one.💐

StasisMom · 02/08/2026 15:17

I lost nearly a stone on Mounjaro which I did for a month. I did have bad indigestion etc but tbf, it’s totally changed my eating habits and I’m much healthier now. I would do it again if it crept back on.

Indigestion is what worries me. Did you take anything for it?

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 02/08/2026 15:27

You can lie easily and get them online. I did to lose the last of my baby weight and went from a large size 8 to a size 4. Came off them after a few months and settled as a 6 (5"4).

UpDownAllAround1 · 02/08/2026 15:28

Exercise will help MH more

dizzydizzydizzy · 02/08/2026 15:35

Have you tried adjusting your diet? If not. I’d try that first. I’ve lost 6 stone that way. (more veg, more lean protein, more nuts, seed and olive oil, less red meat, far fewer carbs, far fewer sweet treats.) I do not exercise.

TheAmberKoala · 02/08/2026 15:43

Iloveeverycat · 02/08/2026 12:53

Do you really need to. I am the same height. To lose a stone in 3 months I just cut out sugar, choc, biscuits and snacks. No eating between meals. Switch to skimmed milk. No exercise

Edited

oh this old chestnut again. WLI work in multiple ways such as balancing blood sugar and reducing inflamation. There are many people for whom 'oh just eat less' does not work.

Freshstartyear25 · 02/08/2026 15:53

When I went over 25 BMI recently, I felt I have a stone to lose and I lost it in 12 weeks by not snacking, being conscious of what I’m eating, drinking lots of water, and doing 40 minutes of grow with Jo exercises 5 days a week.
I’m not saying it’s easy but you can try it.
If money is not an object though, I’m seeing lots of adverts of companies like Voy, Bolt, etc saying they’ll prescribe the jab for BMI of 25 and above so you’ll definitely qualify without lying. They even have the pills now too.
I thought about it too but decided to give it a go first and I’m now in a healthy range.

LuckyHazelFox · 02/08/2026 16:00

OP hasn't ask for alternatives to losing weight. She is specifically asking about the jabs and anyone's experience.
