AIBU to feel upset after my partner chose gaming over intimacy?

My toddler finally slept. I put on some lingerie (mind that my body is NOT tea, size A cups, no bum but plenty of tum) and went into the sitting room.
My partner was playing playstation, gives me abaolutely no compliments (nothing new) but did look at me.
He said 'let me finish the match and then i will come'. I sigh, grab my phone and leave the room. He states dont be like that, i had already started the match.

My sister thinks im overeacting as im upset.

Eh

I think youre overreacting a little

he wont win any awards for romance, and needs to step it up. But I would've said, 'hurry up and make it up to me for making me wait'

That said, i know its hard when your body isnt where you want it - he's lucky you made the effort!, dd is 7 and I doubt i'd be arsed enough for lingère! Xx

If I was in the middle of something I was enjoying and my partner walked in and wanted sex immediately I’d be annoyed, wouldn’t you?

It’s not a reflection on you or how you looked, it’s more that he’d just sat down to something he wanted to do and was expected to instantly ditch it and shift to sex mode.

If you’d said come to the bedroom in 10 minutes I reckon he’d have been there in 5.

DontSayItsOver · 30/07/2026 21:53

If you have a toddler I assume you’ve been married long enough to know you can’t pause an online game. If it was single player I would’ve been offended.

Also I hate the way you had to disparage your own body to try and give some sort of context. I’m sure you looked amazing!

Funchythesnowwoman · 30/07/2026 21:55

I don’t see anything wrong with what he did.

Papster · 30/07/2026 21:57

If he’d stood there with his knob sticking out of his trousers and you were doing your hobby would you leap obediently to your feet?

I think context matters. Is this a one off or does it happen regularly? Or even worse does it happen regularly and he complains about the lack of sex?

Waheymum · 30/07/2026 21:58

Really hard to pick a side. My DH would almost definitely have complimented me, but I think he'd also want to finish the game or get to a point where he could pause it (from non-sex-related experience). He also wouldn't necessarily be in the mood to have sex- no fault of mine. I've sighed many times when he's been gaming!

CurdinHenry · 30/07/2026 21:58

I also would find a person who calls sex "intimacy" and refers to their "tum" sexually uninspiring tbf.

momager22 · 30/07/2026 21:59

I’m trying to imagine if I just sat down to watch my favourite tv show and my partner came in half naked expecting sex just because they finally felt like it….. much less that I should be grateful and jump at the opportunity - I wouldn’t be too keen tbh. I think you’re being harsh.

FrauPaige · 30/07/2026 21:59

Never try to compete with a PS5. Many a 2:1 has been lost to this all powerful, mind altering device.

Show him what is available in the shop window, but let him walk into the shop himself.

Justwastingaperfectlygoodafternoon · 30/07/2026 21:59

I'd have been upset too op but I agree with the others that he didn't do anything wrong. Also if your toddler usually has sleeping issues and keeps both of you awake and busy then maybe he was just tired and looking forward to relaxing with a game. It's not a reflection on you and unless there is something going on it's also not a reflection on whether he finds you attractive or not.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 30/07/2026 22:01

You are being a bit unreasonable

MsIceSandwich · 30/07/2026 22:03

Urgh, how I hate the word intimacy, it's so twee, just say sex.
I think you need to work on your seduction technique, sticking on some lingerie and expecting him to just drop everything is a bit rubbish.

... how big is the knob?

This^ for me.
TBH I usually behaved as your DH - when toddler DD was in bed I was craving some winding down time with cup of tea and TV on 😔

She's not asking you to have sex so not sure why you felt the need to share that 🙄

But hopefully you feel better about yourself now that you've tried to shame a stranger on the internet over the words she used.

This.

I know a lot of people will think "oh, it's just a video game" but if you quit out early you're ruining the match for everyone else. Nobody would expect somebody to immediately stop a tennis match halfway through in a similar situation.

So thats why Andy Murray ignored me flashing seducing him at the park

(Sorry, last one from me, been on the wine)

Shinyhappyapple · 30/07/2026 22:10

Can you imagine this in reverse? You’re sitting down in the middle of your book/favourite TV show and your partner comes in and expects you to stop what you are doing immediately to have sex with him ? And then sulks when you don’t?

Papster · 30/07/2026 22:11

hotmumshit · 30/07/2026 22:04

... how big is the knob?

Assume there’s another half of it out of sight

PurpleCoo · 30/07/2026 22:14

So if a man posted to say that they expected sex out of the blue, while their partner was already in the middle of doing something, and they were annoyed their wife didn't immediately drop it to have sex, what do you think the reaction would be?

hotmumshit · 30/07/2026 22:16

Papster · 30/07/2026 22:11

I am only human 😩😮

Biscuitz1 · 30/07/2026 22:19

It was the lack of compliments that upset me the most.

I can see now I was overeacting about the game and the bit about it being in reverse.

To give more context, my toodler fell asleep a good 30 mins before and we had made jokes about sex prior.

For the title, I had something else but this was the AI suggested one, so i just went fot it.

Thank you to everyone who replied.

You could have said see you in ten mins and sauntered off, it was unreasonable to expect him to drop everything immediately.

Biscuitz1 · 30/07/2026 22:24

Im such a child when it comes to my emotions.
I dont know why i thought he would drop everything like in the tiktok videos.
Stupid i know
