To ask what year your car is?

Mine is a 2012 hatchback, I wanted something cheap, reliable, easy to run and cheap repair costs and I'm happy with what I've got. I seem to be in a friend circle with nothing older than 2020 which is tough where they all fawn over each other's car but I've made the correct choice for me. Which is yours?

I know what you mean about new cars everywhere.

our main car is 2019. Our station car is electric and 2021.

One is 2024, the other 2017

Mines a 2001 - x reg! My grandad had it from new, and I inherited it earlier this year. I feel quite self conscious driving such an old banger, but financially it made sense after my last car was written off.

Mines a 2008, got it 5 years ago and it owes me nothing.. lightbulb went recently and cost 50p to change it. Only 60 thousand km on the clock!!! Paid 3k for it..

2025 landrover - we have 1 each and keep them 3 years then change. It does not pay to own an old landrover they cost ££££££ to repair!

we do live on a farm tho they aren’t Chelsea tractors

A 2013 and a 2015. Most people we know have newer cars than that. They’re both lower mileage for their age. We are currently driving a 2025 rental vehicle which has been somewhat of an eye opener. No rattling for a start. But oh well. We’ll drive ours until they need replacing.

My 2004 skoda has sadly gone to the scrap yard recently, nothing mechanically wrong but lots of mini things that added up. Replaced with a 2017 skoda which I hope lasts as long as the previous one. Dh drives a 20 year old car too.

Currently 2006 but from next year will be 2026. First ever brand new car.

2023..:bought at 3 years old. I do high mileage every year. I tend to keep cars until it isn’t viable to do so. My last car was 11 years old until sadly the repairs needed were going to cost thousands. Unfortunately I’ve had to get a car on finance which I have not had for years but I need a car for work

I have a 2017 Nissan Leaf, and before that I had a 2012 Leaf. I've owned the current one for 2 years, and had the previous one for almost 4 years. I love them, they're perfect for me, and I'm planning on keeping this one for as long as possible.

Neither of us is "into" cars, they are a means to an end. I've got zero interest in spending any more on cars than absolutely necessary. We buy them relatively new, look after them and run them until they die. If other people like cars and want to spend their cash on something shiny and new then good for them, but I can think of many, many things I'd rather spend on instead!

Bought brand new in 2008, still going strong, immaculate inside and out. Why would I change it? Still does the job it was bought for. 18 years old and hope to get a few more years out of it yet. Never broken down, never needed anything other than service schedule items (brake pads, tyres, battery, spark plugs, timing belt).

2007 & 2017. Not luxury marques

We do not do car finance or expensive trendy brands. Both our cars were bought with cash, second hand, one was 18m old the other was 4 yrs old. We bought an unglamorous japanese make known for reliability & longevity.

We will run them til knackered. The 2007 doesnt do a lot of miles any more due to our lifestyles changing, it is likely to be replaced in the next year or two & we'll buy another two year old car, electric though.

Out of interest though why change after only 3 years?? Can you not even get 5 years out of them? If they are so lacking longevity (they arent cheap) & so expensive to repair why do you buy them?

2021 but I’ll be running it into the ground like I did with its predecessor which was 2010. This one should last a lot longer. Paid for with cash. Don’t do car debt.

2020 but if I didn’t have the money I would have kept my 2011 for sure. In fact I still see the one I had and wonder 🤣

I may upgrade to a 2024 next year, but only because I’ll have some help to do so

2017 and I'll run it until it won't run any longer. It's cheap to run, fully paid for and gets me and the kids from a to b, I couldn't care less how old it is.
also have a friends group who all have 1-3 year old cars on finance, I just make a point that it's nice being a few hundred pounds better off a month because I don't have a fancy new car on finance to pay for
