Letter from HA about loud music?

autumnbeee · 24/07/2026 19:37

So basically I received a letter from my HA about loud music causing a disturbance to other residents here.

I am the only one who received it.

I suspect my NDN reported me as I don't think who else it could be?

Surely they could have just left a polite note or approached me?

I assume this will be on my file now?

They are not wasting the Housing Association's time. Dealing with antisocial tenants is part of their management responsibilities.

The OP isn't coming across as someone who would act reasonably if a complaint had been made direct.

I wish they still had the laughing emoji on here purely for your first sentence

Anyone who plays music in their garden is unlikely to be the sort of person who has any regard for a request via a WhatsApp or FB Group.

I'd have gone straight to the HA as well.

Does that include older ppl who play The Carpenters? DNiece and i were in DMs back garden last night and we could hear it coming through from next door? Not hugely loud though All privately owned homes. I suspect this thread would have gone very differently had it been this in the OP!!

This line is always trotted out as if everyone has the money to buy somewhere in the countryside...

And rural people also have a right to peace in their own homes! People on MN seem to think anyone who lives outside a town or village should just put up with any sort of racket, and frankly it’s bad enough on a day to day basis with what goes on in the country without blaring music to add to it.

Of course it means something. The HA will keep records of all anti-social behaviour in case evidence is needed for possession proceedings based on anti-social behaviour.

😂

On my HA file if I ever require a landlord reference from them?

I do play music in the garden at times but surely if it was a nuisance they could have asked me via the neighbours hood WhatsApp group/ Facebook group?

Anyone can report you. Just keep the noise down. ✔️

BillieWiper · 26/07/2026 16:37

Well you answered your own question about why she wouldn't approach you. There's tension and she actively avoids speaking to you when there's nothing wrong. So why would she feel comfortable approaching with a complaint.

But maybe she is like that because she's been repeatedly disturbed by you playing loud music with profane lyrics.
If you quieten down she may become more civil.

Glad you've got the message that it's antisocial.

autumnbeee · 26/07/2026 18:44

I emailed the HA to ask if this will remain on my record.

The music has been low volume/off since I received the letter.

Of course the letter sent remains on your housing file.
Nothing has changed - they received a complaint, they wrote a letter.

Sorry just to clarify a few issues.

Despite us being friendly initially there is tension between us, she makes it evident she does not like me.

When we first moved in my visitors would at times park in her space.

Apparently because I was being friendly and in passing mentioned what her job was as I noticed she worked nights she found me intrusive etc.

I don't think she would approach me as she actively avoids me.

I have heard from another neighbour that she is actually moving out soon.

Points taken, no more music.

Edited

Why were your visitors parking in her parking space?

Gemilo · 26/07/2026 19:44

Your friends parked in her parking space? You sound like the neighbour from hell.

Happytaytos · 26/07/2026 19:47

And now you parked in her spaces. You sound awful as a neighbour. Get some manners and respect for those around you. Did you live under a rock before?

JenniferBooth · 26/07/2026 22:34

they need to sort out the fucking saunas they expect ppl to live in

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 26/07/2026 22:41

@JenniferBooth

I think this a specific issue with your Housing Association and the tree outside your window. You can’t assume everyone who lives in a HA flat has a hot flat like you do though, ours was lovely and cool. Still had a loud neighbour though.

I can assure you that playing music in your garden is as unreasonable as it gets.
There-s nothing worse than sitting in your own garden to enjoy a quiet read/sunbathe/glass of wine only to find that some selfish oaf has decided to share to their excreable taste in music with the whole neighborhood. It's so arrogant and thoughtless to shatter everyone else's peace in this way. If you want to listen to music use headphones and keep it to yourself. No one should ever be subjected to noise nuisance of any kind and I'm not surprised that your neighbours have reacted in this way.

Hildegard25 · 27/07/2026 12:11

autumnbeee · 24/07/2026 23:09

Yes the music has been kept low now.

When my boyfriend came over the other day he tried to put it up and I turned it back down immediately.

I honestly didn't mean to annoy anyone.

You, my dear OP are the neighbour from hell.
After all this and you still have not got the message.

What fantastic neighbours you have. Where I live we would have all come round and told you in no uncertain terms what we thought.

It's amazing how one inconsiderate twat can cause so many problems to so many people.

Just stop playing music in your fucking garden.
Wear headphones.
Why should you even be told this.
It's not rocket science.

I can't imagine why she no longer likes you.

Yes, it does. And I am old enough to remember The Carpenters first hit being released.

Excactly. We have a neighbour who seems to think her choice of abba and 80s music is what we all like to listen to. I want peace in my garden and wear headphones when listening to my dodgy taste.

I have two of these neighbours
i am also this neighbour
its great for me as I never have to bother putting music on

SENsupportplease · 27/07/2026 16:57

If I sit in my garden I can hear loads of noise prob from about 6 other gardens

next door young kids watching Bluey and playing loudly, grandma loudly playing with or instructing etx

next door older kids playing football loudly, parents chatting, some music on

opposite music on, loud

opposite other new baby screaming

Another opposite kids playing loudly and witht music on (abba usually 🥳)

plus lawn mowers, strimmers, chatting etc

I never thought of that sort of thing as anti social in normal daytime hours, it’s just living noise. It’s certainly never bothered me.

offensive language would but not just music.

Namechangingregularly · 27/07/2026 19:07

My next door neighbour has just started blasting the music in the garden. I have one hour child free to sit in sun and relax with my book. That’s the end of that peace for me.
im also embarrassed in case anyone thinks its from our house

I live in a flat in a converted terrace house. The back gardens back on to the back gardens of another terrace. This will be around 60 to 70 houses in total split into 3 or 4 flats in each with the basement or ground and basement flats having access to their own back garden. The gardens are separated by 8' stone walls. Other than occasional gardening noises I don't hear any noise. It's bliss.

It's really selfish to force your (general your). neighbours to listen to your music.

Lucyccfc68 · 27/07/2026 19:29

Is it any wonder that your neighbour doesn’t speak to you and is now moving out???

She has her parking space nicked, has to listen to loud music, with shitty lyrics and all this whilst trying to work nights!

She never asked to have Waynetta and her scanky boyfriend living next door, the poor woman.

RubyQueues · 27/07/2026 22:58

You are awful!!! Seriously. HTH

ConstantlyFuriosa · 28/07/2026 05:25

AgedPudding · 25/07/2026 07:37

For those saying dont play music, behave!!! Everyone is allowed to enjoy their own garden

They are. In peace and not having to listen to someone else's choice of music.
Headphones mean you can enjoy yours and everyone else can enjoy theirs.

Hang on! So what are the people wanting to enjoy their gardens in peace supposed to do? Suck it up because of the selfish cunts?

FajitaFriday · 28/07/2026 07:59

What type of music was it OP?
