AIBU to be put off after he poured wine on the floor?

2nd date, sat in restaurant and we each had a glass of wine. He commented that he wasn’t keen on the wine and said he’d get a soft drink next time. I finished my drink and he had half of his glass left so I said I was going to get another drink and did he want to get a soft drink now or was he going to finish his wine. He picked up the glass, tipped the wine onto the floor (!!!!!!) and said “finished” and laughed. Several people saw him do it. I was mortified and said “did you really just tip that onto the floor??” And he acted like he was a bit embarrassed but laughed and said he didn’t like it. Waitress came across, noticed the puddle on the floor and he laughed and said “sorry about that” whilst looking at me like he was expecting me to laugh.

after the date he messaged me saying he’d had a good time and asked if I had and I replied “I’m still processing the sight of someone purposely spilling half a glass of wine onto a restaurant floor….” And he replied “still on that? Seriously? 😂”

am I over reacting?? It’s really put me off

If that's best behaviour early on ( 2nd date) then I wouldn't be sticking around for the long term version! Throw this one back!

Dont accuse OP of being a paedophile please. Wether it was tongue or cheek or not, mud sticks so think before you post. Thankyou.

Don't be an idiot, it was a comment about the guy acting like a child and you know it 🙄

pestowithwalnuts · 16/07/2026 07:42

Bin him...he's a slob

Weird comment. (Yours)

It was nice of him to get his big red flag out so early in the courtship 🚩

He’s a massive bellend. In the bin with this one.

I don’t normally approve of ghosting but this man deserves an unexplained block. Juvenile, arrogant and deliberately creating a mess for a low paid worker to deal with.

When somebody shows you who they are….

Hard disagree, he needs to be told exactly why he's being dumped, otherwise he'll just blame her for being 'weird' and not reflect. He needs to give his head a wobble.

MyRubyFox · 16/07/2026 09:27

Immature, disrespectful and slightly aggressive. I would ditch him.

NightOwlNutter · 16/07/2026 09:30

He obviously needs an eye test if he is pouring wine on the floor.

Seriously major red flags - ditch the dodo and do not look back!

MNTouristhere · 16/07/2026 10:05

Tell him exactly why and then block him

SnappyOP · 16/07/2026 10:13

I'd have gone to the bar paid my share of the bill and left without looking back. and blocked him as soon as I was safe in a taxi or my car

Sam9769 · 16/07/2026 10:28

DUMP!

Agree.
Shark cage moment.

No one with any standards would want to be associated with anyone who would behave like that.

Red flag. Stay away. If he can act like that in public just think of what he is capable of behind closed doors

Yeah - I disagree with letting men know how to do a better job fooling the next woman. Let them show their true selves and enable women to make better dating decisions.

I also think he deserves nothing.

Agreed

Arrested development. Maybe even reversed.

That is vandalism, If I had someone with me, man or woman. they could stuff their friendship. from Lenora

Tbf, I doubt it makes any difference either way. He isn't the sort of guy to reflect on his actions and learn from the consequences.

Happydays777 · 17/07/2026 13:23

What a strange thing to do. Very inappropriate and odd behaviour. Is he just childish or was he on something to laugh about something so rude? I would have made an excuse to go to the bathroom and run out the door and get away from him as far as possible and block him. I wouldn't be able to speak or sit with someone so unpredictable.

Happydays777 · 17/07/2026 13:31

homeiswherethecoffeeis · 15/07/2026 22:37

How much wine has he had before he did this? I mean was he drunk?

This or was he on something? What odd behaviour.. very strange. I'd have excused my self to the bathroom and run out the door. paid my share of the bill if needed but I have had to have left after that.

mivona · 17/07/2026 16:53

Was this just a rage bait post? Or did it really happen?

Weirdgoldfish · 18/07/2026 18:06

Would he find it so funny if someone had slipped on it? Yes he probably would. Dump him!

MrDX · 18/07/2026 18:32

It’s not so much the pouring as the follow up. While the initial act was ridiculous, this would be a different matter if he was equally mortified having maybe done something in the moment, admitting it was a huge misjudgment brought on by eg nerves or trying and failing to impress by being quirky or something. If he was the one now mortified, saying he just really liked you and he lost his sensibilities, and wanted to make up for it etc I’d instead say to accept hos mistake and maybe laugh about it in 20 years with him. But alas no, he sounds unhinged.
