AIBU to be put off after he poured wine on the floor?

2nd date, sat in restaurant and we each had a glass of wine. He commented that he wasn’t keen on the wine and said he’d get a soft drink next time. I finished my drink and he had half of his glass left so I said I was going to get another drink and did he want to get a soft drink now or was he going to finish his wine. He picked up the glass, tipped the wine onto the floor (!!!!!!) and said “finished” and laughed. Several people saw him do it. I was mortified and said “did you really just tip that onto the floor??” And he acted like he was a bit embarrassed but laughed and said he didn’t like it. Waitress came across, noticed the puddle on the floor and he laughed and said “sorry about that” whilst looking at me like he was expecting me to laugh.

after the date he messaged me saying he’d had a good time and asked if I had and I replied “I’m still processing the sight of someone purposely spilling half a glass of wine onto a restaurant floor….” And he replied “still on that? Seriously? 😂”

am I over reacting?? It’s really put me off

If that's how he behaves in public, what on earth is he like in private......?

He might graduate on to spilling wine on the kitchen floor and laughing as he makes you mop it up if he treated the waitress that disrespectfully.

I replied “I’m still processing the sight of someone purposely spilling half a glass of wine onto a restaurant floor….” And he replied “still on that? Seriously? 😂”

He's mocking you for reacting normally to try and make you feel silly.

Niccinuuxx · 15/07/2026 17:41

It's a shame they didn't throw him out or he slipped on the wet floor afterwards!

BordersMumof4 · 15/07/2026 17:50

No 3rd date

ThatAdeptDreamer · 15/07/2026 17:51

Dump him
Now.
He's rude, arrogant and has no respect for waiting stsff.
I cannot believe you've even had to put this out there.

Lunaticmess · 15/07/2026 17:55

Utterly bizarre behaviour. Disrespectful, entitled, and wasteful. Restaurant wine is not exactly cheap these days, either. Get out while you can.

frankiefirstyear · 15/07/2026 17:57

Run don’t walk

Calmdownfolks · 15/07/2026 17:58

Agree he might be testing you with this behaviour

He needs binning off OP. He sounds vile

PinkKittyGirl · 15/07/2026 18:00

He's acting like a toddler and even my toddler doesn't purposely spill drinks on the floor! I would've left as soon as he poured the wine on the floor and I blocked him straight away, it just shows he has a pack of respect towards others, sooner or later that lack of respect would've been shown to you so you've dodged a bullet x

OldScribbler · 15/07/2026 18:00

The man is obviously a 100% diamond studded twat. Lucky escape.
How does anyone become so moronic?

Mossley · 15/07/2026 18:01

What an arse, flexing his male ego........be thankful it happened, you don't have to waste any more time on him.

Schoolsec · 15/07/2026 18:01

Beyond rude and so entitled. Wouldn't want anyone like that in my life.

Shellyshep · 15/07/2026 18:04

No you’re not overreacting and his comment asking if you’re “still on that” should tell you all you need to know… there absolutely wouldn’t be a third date of if I were you!

MyFairLady22 · 15/07/2026 18:04

No. No third date. What next? He chucks his dinner at the wall?

I once overlooked a date who kept licking his knife. Big mistake.

absolutely not overreacting!!! Childish, embarrassing, totally disrespectful to the restuarant and the poor waiter to had to clean it up and mortifying for you? If he thought this would impress you on a second date imagine how he will act if you had seen him a while 🙈 you have had a lucky escape !!

Hopefully the OP won't be finding out because she will have binned him. Good news is he revealed his self early in the relationship

AmazingGreatAunt · 15/07/2026 18:30

Bad manners. If you do not like something, just leave it. Whether that is on the side of the plate or in the glass.
How did he hold his knife?

mambojambodothetango · 15/07/2026 18:32

He sounds like a psychopath

2old2Nonsense · 15/07/2026 18:33

Not even a question. That behaviour is not excusable. Move on. Let his therapist deal with him.

Bilboben · 15/07/2026 18:37

He is dangerous. Dump!

GlobalTravellerbutespeciallyBognor · 15/07/2026 18:38

As everyone else has said

BeddysMum · 15/07/2026 18:43

That's an overgrown toddler right there. Run for the hills! 🚩🚩🚩

Nicewoman · 15/07/2026 18:44

He’s a coward. Instead of fronting up he is teetotal, he wastes money on a drink and then pours it on the floor. I’ve seen men (and women) do this at friends houses and throw meat on the floor as they don’t have the guts to admit they don’t eat meat or drink alcohol.

His next move would be tipping red wine on your best friends cream wool carpet as he can’t drink wine and too cowardly to admit this, whilst “laughing it off”.

Sunshine231 · 15/07/2026 18:48

Just when I think I can’t hear any worse stories about men… wtaf 😳 someone mentioned toddler behaviour but even my toddler wouldn’t do this, at least not without expecting some kind of consequence which it seems this bloke did not: “still on that…” 🙄🙄🙄🙄
