Count Binface has a genuine chance against Nigel Farage!

Sounds crazy but…

None of the major parties are competing…

Farage won Clacton with 46% of the vote…

If the 54% united together to vote for Binface, we could have the most preposterous election outcome of all time!

I reckon this could get some genuine momentum… all the other parties would LOVE this result, and even if they didn’t actively campaign for it, would surely quietly be gunning for Binface to win.

I live in Clacton and it's an incredibly sad state of affairs I have to either vote for a racist misogynistic lying prick or a joke candidate. My town is falling apart, anti social behaviour is high, unemployment is through the roof, health and life expectancy is falling. Trying to sell and move but houses aren't selling. Reform can F.O.

I cannot believe that this is actually allowed, tbh. If you resign you should not be allowed to stand again immediately otherwise - as is the case here - it’s just an inexcusable waste of taxpayers money. I think it is wrong of Lab and Cons not to put up a candidate to facilitate this - it’s not real democracy, is it?

Not picking on you specifically but what does this Count Binface stand for? What are his policies?

Is a joke MP really what the country needs right now?

Several constituencies have, or have had independent candidates representing them successfully. I honestly think Count Binface would perform better than Nine Jobs Nigel in representing his constituents.

They are listed on the Count's wiki page, they include bringing back Ceefax and nationalising model railways.

I feel for the people of Clacton, like the person above. For us it’s a joke but this shit show is their lived experience. Clacton is a great seaside town with huge potential, Farage is a self serving nasty coward who has treated his constituents with contempt. They deserve better than a man with a plastic bin on his head who says he’s an alien.

I follow our local MPs (Labour) on Facebook, and they like to give a rundown on what they've been up to. Recently they both attended a debate in the House on seaside towns and their specific needs and challenges.

Guess who wasn't there...🙄

I suppose that is the real issue. It’s not an election done for any other purpose than one man’s political career.

It's necessary to be able to call for a by-election as there are scenarios where it is appropriate and no party can be compelled to stand.

The person who has created this situation is Farage, it's entirely his choice.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · Today 09:07

Can we crowdfund Binface's campaign?!

crackofdoom · Today 09:08

Should Count Binface become a proper MP, surely he would have to wear normal clothes and unmask at some point? You couldn't wear that costume for five years, surely!

One who knows they're a joke would be an improvement.

Well as Farage is a joke MP they have one anyway if I lived in Claction I would vote for the count. Remember Zelenskyy ? He was a comedian in another life

No issue with calling by-elections - I have an issue where one man can effectively call a by-election to have himself ratified. I have an issue with the fact that this is tax payer funded. I have an issue with the fact that other parties are facilitating his manipulation of the system and making no effort to ensure that the fundamental principle of democracy - choice - is protected by choosing not putting up a candidate. That is also their choice - I said nothing about ‘compelling’ people to stand either.

TooBigForMyBoots · Today 09:13

Im delighted the main parties are refusing to be part of Farage's circus. They'll stand candidates in the real By-election.

ByGraptharsHammer · Today 09:15

Someone has pointed out that this has happened before with David Davis who resigned on a point of principle about arbitrary detention in 2008. He triggered his own by election in an effort to get a debate.

It did not work. Davis got opposed by joke candidates and won easily. The debate he wanted did not happen because the major parties did not run.

Same here.

Binface has quite a developed policy agenda.

In Makerfield he said he would "cut your taxes" and "and raise everyone elses". - To be fair Burnham promised the same to Makerfield.

He will make sure corners are referred correctly in football. - Makes sense.

People who use speakerphones on trains will be conscripted. - No brainer - he's on top defense as well.

Pensions to be double locked - he not dodging the big issues

MPs to lose their subsidised food and drink in parliament - something for the green voters.

He'll build one affordable house. - he is grounded in reality.

I think the winner though for Clacton would be his long standing aim of "All 99p flake icrecreams to be limited in price to 99p."

Every by-election costs on average £250,000 to run. You’d happily see £500,000 of tax payer funds put into this man’s ego trip?

CuriousKangaroo · Today 09:18

I feel so sorry for the people of Clacton. They have an MP who doesn’t even hold constituency surgeries and turns up to parliament only when it promotes himself. It looks pretty much beyond doubt that he is also corrupt.

I understand why other parties have decided not to stand. They cannot legitimise his nonsense. But it leaves constituents with nowhere to turn. In fact, I think Binface would make a far better MP for the area than Farage. Almost anyone would.

That said, if they vote to Farage in despite him being a corrupt racist (or in some cases even because he is a corrupt racist) I then perhaps they deserve what they get. I would still feel sorry for those constituents who would never do so. I hope someone local and sensible decides to run as a sensible anti-Farage candidate.

That's on Farage. He's the one who's decided to charge the tax payer for 2 by-elections when 1 would do.

A little under 50% of those who voted, did. But that’s a lot of people who didn’t. And I imagine some who did vote him in are regretting their choice given how he has failed them and there is evidence of his corruption - but now there is a “do-over” and they have no real alternatives.

Election costs 250k. Just think how many elections we could have if we scrapped HS2.
