Decoy Wedding?!

Apologies I haven't gone through any individual topic to see if there are threads.

But with all the shit in the world going on, and true escapism is anyone else thoroughly excited about the "potential" TS/TK nuptials?

I find I'm far too invested! Pathetic to be so interested? Very possibly but I don't care!

Again apologies if there's already something going... If there is can someone share!

This is where i thought she'd marry. I can just imagine the fresh sea breeze, as opposed to the fumes in Manhattan. It has five acres of land, so plenty of room for a marquee! I do wonder if Mr. Meat-head was behind the MSG thing.

The entire thing would have been drowned out by hundreds of helicopters and drones, the water in front would have been filled with long lens paparazzo jostling for space. The disruption to the neighbours would have been horrendous.

MSG has flight restrictions imposed all the time. You can't restrict airspace over a private residence.

Cailin66 · 04/07/2026 11:52

I get wanting privacy, I don’t get an awful city like NY in an awful venue MSG. No matter what they do inside MSG it’s not in any way a lovely place.

Why not a lovely castle, beach place, other country or island with a no fly zone.

I suppose this is all to make money off a dvd. Swift is a brilliant business woman, an ok songwriter. She seems nice. Hope they’ve a happy marriage and dying to see the dress …

FloodlightsOnTheSquare · 04/07/2026 11:55

Yeah they really need the money 🙄

Off a DVD? Is this 1993?

Everlore · 04/07/2026 12:00

My husband and I are both devoted Swifties, as are many of our friends, we have all been over-invested in the TS and TK love story and far too excited about the wedding of two strangers. I know it's a bit pathetic, but TS is a major part of our lives and I am glad to find we're not alone!
I also thought MSG may have been a decoy but it's looking quite convincing. I was hoping for a private ceremony at Holiday House, that would have been so romantic.
I do realise that none of this is my business but I am still far too excited about this wedding. I wish them both all the best, I feel like I have been through so many of TS'heartbreaks with her, thanks to her extraordinary music, that I hope she is finally going to get her happy ending. The Tortured Poets Department is my favourite TS album, I like The Life Of A Showgirl, but it is not in the same league as the four albums which preceded it, especially TTPD, but TLOAS seems to be a happy, loved-up album where as TTPD was very much an album of doomed love and melancholy. So, even though TLOAS can't compare to TTPD, I wouldn't want TS to stay sad just so she could write another album like it.

Surely the big money is made off VHS tapes!?

Who?

Weddings are so boring.

i am deeply invested too.
told a year 1 class that taylor is getting married tomorrow.
then we spent a phonics lesson thinking of words with /ay/ or /or/ in them.

year 1 class were almost invested. i was neck-deep in invested-ment.

I got my job by doing my interview presentation on Swiftenomics 🤣

I’m not really a TS fan myself, but as a retired teacher I think this is a fun idea for a lesson. 😊

I wonder if the parents did. Why is vacuous celeb culture the basis of a lesson for children of that age? I think that is terrible.

QuintadosMalvados · 04/07/2026 12:31

BusyExpert · 04/07/2026 00:41

i could not be less interested.

This reminds me of the time I went on a long journey with my dh and his sister and her husband.

Really unexpectedly, as she's a bit of a strait laced bluestocking whose intellect is far greater than mine, she pipes up how much she admires Taylor Swift and how much she is a great role model etc.

I don't think she expected the two men in the car to reply so the onus was on me to say something in agreement but I was honestly speechless as I'd never expected her to say this and I don't give a shiny whatsit about Taylor Swift.

I was also too knackered to even say 'yeah she's OK.'

Cue a few moments of awkward silence.

Anarchy99 · 04/07/2026 12:34

mtobrokeme · 04/07/2026 07:37

As a parent, I actually would like that. She’s taught a phonics lesson, on something the children she’s teaching will find fun and relevant to their interests, particularly little girls. I would imagine most parents would, being that the majority are not fun sponges and find misery in every little thing.

OP, I don’t like TS particularly, her music isn’t my bag, but I’ll enjoy a look at her dress and guest outfits!

At the age of, what, 5???

It’s not about being fun sponges. Five year olds being taught in school about celeb culture is odd, no?

Yeah imagining using current interesting events to help childrens’s education urgh 🤣

mydogisthebest · 04/07/2026 12:41

She can spend as much money as she wants but personally I never see the point of big showoff tacky weddings. It is meant to be about getting married to someone you love, someone you want to spend the rest of your life with.

Lets hope their marriage is more successful than most celebrity marriages

Hardly historically or culturally significant events. In fact hardly an event.

As for ‘interesting’ - it’s a wedding between a pop star and a guy that most people in the world would never have heard of if he wasn’t with her.

You’re not a teacher are you?

It’s clear she wasn’t teaching the children about Taylor Swift as a person or a celebrity. She used it as the theme for teaching phonics. It’s an example of good practice in my opinion. Using popular culture as a hook is a good idea.
As an eduction professional, governor and parent of a primary school child I’d be more than happy with this approach.

During the eras tour a school I work with used words from her songs as a theme ‘words of the day’ when working on vocabulary.

Oh shurruuupp. Honestly. Lots of kids love Taylor Swift.

They’ve not learned to be a massive jaded judgemental bore quite yet.

MickyMoonshine · 04/07/2026 12:48

SoScarletItWas · 04/07/2026 11:47

Exactly. Woman uses her talent and hard work to become a billionaire, donates shitloads to charity all over the world, gives her crew life-changing amounts in bonuses, pulls off a commercial masterstroke to regain her masters which creates a system for other artists to benefit from and people are STILL finding things to froth about 🤷‍♀️

The internalised misogyny is there for all to see. Sad that some people still struggle with a women being super successful.

does every additional guest mean it’s less real?

Whats the tipping point? Is 100 ok? 200? 500 and it’s never gonna last? What if you just know a lot of people and want to share your happiness with them?

RocksByThePool · 04/07/2026 13:04

There were some little girls who went to a Taylor Swift dance party. We all know what happened there. It is not 'vacuous celebrity culture' it is music/dancing/time with friends. I agree there is a balance to get right with age and how it is explored/taught - like Barbie, influencers, smartphones, anything else that carries loyalty as a brand.

Of course they will know about her and want to dance to her songs like I did to the Spice Girls. I remember the interest when it was David and Victoria.

You just sound a bit sad to be honest. Love or hate her she is historically significant. Sorry you can't cope with that.

That was theme tune to our living room discos during lockdown. In our house if someone needs to calm down we say ‘ you need to Taylor Swift’. 😂

KrazyKatty · 04/07/2026 11:18

I’ve heard of her, not of him and I couldn’t tell you a single song she’s written. I do think the money wasted on this ridiculous event is utterly obscene. 🤷🏻‍♀️

They've just given $26m to charity though?

You also have no idea how much her wedding cost. What's it got to do with you?
