Decoy Wedding?!

Apologies I haven't gone through any individual topic to see if there are threads.

But with all the shit in the world going on, and true escapism is anyone else thoroughly excited about the "potential" TS/TK nuptials?

I find I'm far too invested! Pathetic to be so interested? Very possibly but I don't care!

Again apologies if there's already something going... If there is can someone share!

Two things can be true at the same time. Here's a thought - donate the 26m and DONT be a showy, wasteful, cant read the room in a time of social and environmental crises couple.

Use that fame and wealth to do it better.

I don't understand the attitude that it's wasteful to spend £20+ million on an event. It's not like they set fire to a pile of cash. The money hasn't ceased to exist. It's better for others if wealthy people spend their money not hoard it.

Multiple businesses have received income, ordinary people have been paid, florists, security guards, waiting staff, cleaners etc. That money is flowing into the economy rather than sitting making more and more money for already super rich people.

True! Fair play to her.

I guess it will always bring out the miserable jealous people.

Yep, she earned it all herself, with talent and hard work.

A very tacky affair all around 😬

Why is it tacky?

They can afford a huge celebration and invite everyone they know.

Is it tacky to have a big happy party? Since when?

DimwittedSkater · 04/07/2026 10:14

This is where i thought she'd marry. I can just imagine the fresh sea breeze, as opposed to the fumes in Manhattan. It has five acres of land, so plenty of room for a marquee! I do wonder if Mr. Meat-head was behind the MSG thing.

I’m glad she spent a fortune on her wedding. She’s an absolute force of nature superstar who works her ass off. Eras tour was a gigantic feat. She deserves every good thing that comes her way.

Do you think they had to stand and greet all 1000 guests?

Walking down a huge corridor shaking hands and cheek kissing would take the afternoon!

There must be only so many times you can hear "congratulations, you look lovely" without getting fed up of it. 🤣

I hope they have lots of large mantlepiece to display their cards!

canklesmctacotits · 04/07/2026 10:15

I’m not so sure about the “young” and “role model” monikers. She’s 36. Same age as AOC, older than Zohran Mamdani. Well - 36, is 36.

And whilst she has an incredible work ethic and is top of her league professionally, I wouldn’t want my DD to look up to her for anything other than her professional commitment and drive.

As for MSG, I’ve been to various things there and “wedding venue” isn’t what springs to mind. They will have made it feel intimate and not arena-like (probably built a hall inside, it’s not like they will have kept the seats and jumbotron visible in thinking), but the neighbourhood is a bit Confused . Then again, maintaining privacy and having enough nice hotel rooms and drivers and MUAs and tailors etc for 1,000 people will have limited their choices.

Good luck to them. Hope they have a long and happy marriage.

I really don’t understand why she gets so much hate.
There are plenty of artists who I don’t particularly like but I don’t feel the need to be so actively vitriolic or public about that dislike.
I listen to something else, I don’t read stories about them and I live my life.

There’s something very pathetic about people who make such a big deal about a person they apparently have no interest in.

hahabahbag · 04/07/2026 10:19

it may not be to everyone’s taste - I prefer weddings in churches (or your place of worship) and less showy but the amount they spent will be trickling down all the suppliers, those working the event and overtime for nypd. They also made charitable donations roughly equal to the spend on top and said no gifts, give money to charity .. fair play to them, I don’t know about his background but she is mega wealthy by her talent and hard work, her family are pretty comfortable, but she achieved this herself.

DimwittedSkater · 04/07/2026 10:12

Well, not quite. She manipulated fans with the “re-recordings” to tank the value of her masters, purchased the masters back and that rocketed her net worth - a long planned venture.

And they're probably getting paid double or triple time since it's taking place over a big US holiday weekend! Als Swift is known for having out nice bonuses to staff.

thingsarefine · 04/07/2026 09:35

They did it because they wanted to be the centre of attention.

Taylor Swift has a net worth of $2.1 billion. She could easily have shut down any venue and done it all entirely privately if she wished. Other celebrities have. Instead, she did it very publicly, leaked all the details, and had professional film crews there to produce a “special” of her wedding.

Tacky.

Wait, is this confirmed, or is it just more made-up BS for this poster to bitch and moan about? Because honestly, if she has a film crew there and we get to see a special of her wedding, I will be fucking DELIGHTED!😁Where can I watch this masterpiece 👀

VerifiedAccount · 04/07/2026 10:22

By the way TS isn't marrying herself. Her husband was presumably involved in the planning and decisions. No one is calling TK out.

So please can people stop pretending like this is all her doing and just her. If you want to call it tacky, go ahead but don't be misogynist and just say that it's just her being tacky.

If anything repeatedly calling just her out on joint decisions screams jealously.

There are 2 people consciously deciding these things.

I know, it's as if no one in the history of weddings ever hired a videotographer and made people sit around and watch it? 🤣

Well, not quite. She manipulated fans with the “re-recordings” to tank the value of her masters, purchased the masters back and that rocketed her net worth - a long planned venture.

What?? Swift fulfilled her contract with the record company, and when the record company was done with the masters and had had their share of the profit that they could make, they sold them on. From there, they could be re-sold and re-sold, with any Tom, Dick or Harry who had the money able to buy them and keep profiting from her creative work forever more. Why should just anybody be able to profit from her creative work, after the initial record contract had been fulfilled? Re-recording them all was an absolute master-stroke and taught the industry a lesson about profiting unfairly from artists.

You might ask why she didn't just buy them herself after the record company contract had expired. Well, she tried to, but they offered her bad terms. So the original owners sold them to a private equity firm!! With the stipulation that they continue to profit from them!

Re-recording them all was an absolute master-stroke and taught the industry a much-needed lesson about profiting unfairly from artists. The owners of the masters should have allowed her to buy them on fair terms after the record contract expired. In fact, I'm truly amazed that artists don't have first refusal in a situation like that.

Also, Swift was determined to have control over her own music catalogue, and why the hell shouldn't she??

Absolutely NOTHING to do with manipulating fans. They already owned her music, so the re-recordings were irrelevant to fans.

Couldn't they have had a no-helicopters rule imposed for the day or something?
