AIBU to conclude women pretty much always outshine men overall?

Or is it just me? I find that men, as nice as they can be, are just a little bit shit.

And even if they’re not shit, they’re just not as good as the woman they’re with or a woman of similar age and circumstance.

I see it everywhere. My parents. Friends’ relationships. Colleagues. The sense of entitlement, putting themselves first, not being as organised, not thinking ahead in the same way, letting their mood affect everyone around them…. I am not saying women are not like this, of course they can be. But it’s rare it’s to the extent of men.

Maybe it is just me. I’m old and cynical these days.

It makes me wonder about all the Sons we are raising when I see threads like this because according to all the men haters they are all shit, terrible people.

Exactly. Does that mean that these mothers are admitting they are doing a horrible job of bringing up their sons?

Perhaps they're building their utopian (if rather short-lived) civilisation in which only women exist.

Very possibly. In which case, let them crack on with it and leave the rest of us to our normal life with our lovely men. I once lived in an all female environment and it was the most miserable I've ever been in my entire life.

A utopia of all women sounds dire!!!

A utopia of all women sounds dire!!!

Especially a “utopia” populated by man-hating women. The same attitude that led to them hating men, would soon lead to them hating many of the women too.

In my experience of all-female environments, they've tended to become cliquey, and minor disagreements can quickly get bitchy. I haven't particularly enjoyed the all-female environments I've been in. I generally find more balanced female : male ratios to be more comfortable and accommodating.

I can only imagine the uproar if this was reversed...

They already hate women who don't conform to their worldview, calling us misogynistic names like 'cool girls' and 'handmaidens'. It wouldn't be long before they started turning on each other as well.

Justveryveryangry · 21/06/2026 08:31

If there’s a set of characteristics seemingly common to those who think women are better than men, it’s bitterness, self-pity and self-righteousness.

You are right op and I get what you’re saying even if it seems many don’t.

I know dozens, scores of fabulous women. I know a handful of fabulous men. That’s the way I’d put it.

I would give a lot of money to know what the relatives of these 'women are amazing and men are crap' really think of them. Not just their male relatives, either.

Oh believe me, there was. I was at a girls' boarding school and it was hell. I was actually offered a place at a womens' college in Cambridge which I turned down because I couldn't face any more of it.

Sounds awful!! I hope you had a better time at a co-ed college.

I did, thank you. Much better. I wish my parents had sent me to a co-ed school as well. I don't believe in single sex education for either sex.

The short story Consider Her Ways by John Wyndham, about a world where all men have been killed off by a virus, is an interesting read.

Most scientific discoveries were done by men

But almost all scientific discoveries by women were claimed by male co-researchers, spouses etc.

Crushed23 · 21/06/2026 11:15

Look, throughout history men have given their labour and their lives to the protection of women and children. We can recognise this and give them their due or we can carry on with this ‘women are better’ nonsense and pit the sexes against one another.

And we all know division is the path to happiness and prosperity…

I’m not convinced these threads aren’t designed to bring out the misogynists, who think the only way to defend men is to denigrate women…
