Or is it just me? I find that men, as nice as they can be, are just a little bit shit.

And even if they’re not shit, they’re just not as good as the woman they’re with or a woman of similar age and circumstance.

I see it everywhere. My parents. Friends’ relationships. Colleagues. The sense of entitlement, putting themselves first, not being as organised, not thinking ahead in the same way, letting their mood affect everyone around them…. I am not saying women are not like this, of course they can be. But it’s rare it’s to the extent of men.

Maybe it is just me. I’m old and cynical these days.

I grew up in a household of exclusively women and girls. I now live in a house of exclusively men/boys.

I know which I would rather 100 times over (and hint, the females don't win any prizes in my comparison!).

PollyBell · 22/06/2026 23:11

Not buying it I do think women way overthink every little thing as seen on here constantly and at times have this weird daddy issues wth men like they need their approval, but like any collective there is good and bad men same as women, it just seems women live with their issues constantly and cant seem to do their own thinking

and if this is generalising no more than the OP

You clearly have not read any history. Unsurprising really as men have whitewashed women from the history books. I can give you a recommended reading list if you like?

Men have not created, built and maintained all of society whatsoever.

I would love a recommended reading list. I need to bring my reading up to date. Deborah Cameron, Helena Kennedy, Adrienne Rich, Barbara Smuts, were transformative for me.

Nothing good ever comes of denigrating a whole class of people for possessing physical characteristics or having an ethnic background which they cannot control.

The weird thing is, those that have these misandrist views are often the most vocal opponents to other forms of prejudice based on race or ability. The irony is lost on them.

No one's denigratrating anyone.🙄 For me, women shine brighter. That doesn't mean men are all defunct, dangerous and useless.

It's just that I prefer women.😊 I have sisters, I went to single sex schools. I worked in a male only environment for years and ended up hating it.

My best friends are women. My mum, sister and aunts are women. And what amazing women they are.😍 Intelligent, useful, reliable and fun to be around.

Doesn't mean I hate my son, my brother or my dad. Just means that I am a girls' girl woman's woman.🤷‍♀️

I know a trans woman who tried to join the French Foreign Legion, before they transitioned. They are on Mumsnet. They thought about doing an AMA, "I tried to join the French Foreign Legion, ask me anything". I persuaded them that they would get a harder time on here for being trans than they got when they attempted to join the French Foreign Legion.

I would have hated to grow up in an all female environment. I am an only child but if I'd had a sibling I would have wanted a brother, not a sister. Don't even get me started on girls' schools (although in all fairness, I don't agree with boys' schools either. The world is not single sex and nor should education be)

Oh, so you don't like any men? It isn't just David Hockney you disdain?

Most scientific discoveries were done by men

Wouldn’t that make sense though since women weren’t allowed to be scientists. We could be glamorous assistants or muses until we married I suppose.

Edited

@Bertiebiscuit started a ridiculous thread the day after Hockney died, saying she hated him for trying to block the smoking ban! It was in incredibly poor taste.

I agree OP.

I am pig-headed about taking public transport when I travel - no matter how big the suitcase or how complicated the route, I am never getting a cab to the airport/train station. Matter of principle rather than money.

Anyway, I digress.

Whenever I’m struggling with a big suitcase up the stairs, it is always - ALWAYS - another woman who offers to help me with it. Never a man. In fact, I can be almost certain that a woman will offer to help at some point during my journey.

I’m sure some will say “oh men are just afraid to ask in case you take it the wrong way” but come on!

You've never met a man that has offered to help when you're struggling with a suitcase? It is clear that we have not met

( I would have ran away with the suitcase)

I still can't get over how ridiculous it is to be able to afford cabs and be too cheap to take one because of 'principle'. I know that isn't the point, but it does make me roll my eyes.

Yeah

All those female prime ministers, presidents, Nobel Prize winners, CEO's, billionaiires totally outshining the men

I'm so bored of these crap threads

Well, where to even start with this one. Billionaires - can go fuck themselves, we have people without clean water and children without food or education but we’re holding THESE people in esteem, the ones hoarding money and doing nothing about it?
There’s be a lot more female prize winners etc if women had been allowed to out their own name on their research instead of their husbands or male counterparts, or been allowed to go to school, go to college, work in ‘male’ fields, work at all…

Well men did grow up in a system where they were told that they were better than women. It's affected them to be selfish, rude, cruel

Mumbles11 · 23/06/2026 10:30

I was thinking about this today. I work in a school with teenagers. The girls are better than the boys in so many ways. They are more intelligent, more empathetic, kinder, more organised, more on time, more socially intelligent. Yet I see them walking around with low confidence and treating the boys like the boys are worth more than them.

Then I remember back when I was at school, and being told in so many ways from society that men were better than women. I used to sit in class and defer to the boys opinion.

I think men try to keep women down because they know women are more advanced and intelligent than them in a lot of ways.

6ate9 · 23/06/2026 10:33

@Feetballislife Should the hundreds of female billionaires go “fuck themselves” too?

Mumbles11 · 23/06/2026 10:43

Women just need to break out of the old teachings and see ourselves as completly worth the same as men.

Of course we are. All humans are worth the same as each other

In what way. I find that women can definitely be more psychologically crueller than men. Especially in a work place where there is a hierarchal environment.

Every one I know prefers to work for male bosses than women bosses, as the women bosses are crueller

They took all the credit, many were done by women (if a woman was even lucky enough to be allowed to think)

I remember reading about several women who made scientific discoveries. But men took the credit for the discovery, and wiped the women out of the history books
