Things you hate or find overrated in hot weather

. parents draping sheets over their DC in their pushchairs. It overheats the area

. BBQs especially when used too much lighter fluid. As it makes food taste of that. Plus need to BBQ about four meals worth of meat. if you did eat inside

. Going to crowded beaches. Struggle to park, queues for everything.

Yours?

People.
Mostly.
And inanimate objects.

I didn't realise how much I don't like bbqs, but I really really cant stand the fuss, the smell, the clear up, the weird mix of food.

As mentioned in my OP - you have meat enough for 4 meals. As BBQs have sausages, burgers, kebabs and other meat. If cooking meat inside during other times of the year, you have just one of those meats.

Gas BBQs, may as well grill the meat as don’t get the BBQ taste. Preferably without the lighter fluid taste

I like bbqs- in someone else’s garden!

Oh god yes… Has anyone noticed it’s ALWAYS the men who don’t go to the gym as well? Never the ones with a six pack and big biceps is it?!

I just don’t really enjoy hot weather to be honest. It makes me sweat constantly so my hair always looks trash. My heart rate is also constantly crazily high in heat, presumably sensitive to it or something.

Saw a tiny baby without a sun hat on today…

Well no you're wrong, and I find it amazing how many people repeat this. Most men I see with their tops off are lean and muscular and obviously work out regularly. That's what's so annoying about it!

This is London, though. Quite possibly in other areas men are less toned...

Hot weather.
At best it makes me feel lethargic.
At worst it makes me feel really unwell.

PuppyMonkey · Yesterday 23:19

It’s just a me thing but no matter how many supposedly nice summer clothes I buy for the hot weather, I always hate how I look in all of them. Grin

offtodreamland · Yesterday 23:24

Being unable to sleep as well as when it's cool and dark all night.

Feeling hot and sweaty when I try to do much of anything involving physical activity.

Insects getting in my face and not taking the hint that their presence is undesired.

If only it was that simple. Some of us have health issues which are exacerbated in the very hot weather. Believe me, most of us would like nothing more than to enjoy a beautifully hot summers day like everyone else.

This. Thousands of people have serious or chronic health issues which mean their bodies do not cope well with hot temperatures.
That’s very different from just having a preference.
Actual fear is real and not to be dismissed.

RampantIvy · Today 06:15

Such a lot of it depends on your circumstances and where you live. We don't have noisy neighbours and live on the edge of the Pennines so don't have the issues so many heat haters endure.

DH is extremely underweight (health issues) and is utterly miserable in cold weather.

Supersleepysheepy · Today 07:27

For me it's when people blast air con. I don't need that to cool down, it feels horrible and always seems to make the air smell funny to me.

Also agree with flies and topless men, both equally annoying.

There are some medications such as group of antidepressants which make people unwell in hot weather as they suppress your hypothalamus, the part of the brain that regulates your temperature.

If you take other medications and you are bad in hot weather, I suggest googling that medication and hot weather.

I used to take Sertraline and still feel not right in hot weather.

People moaning it’s hot!
FFS
We’re in the UK, it’s not hot unless it hits over 30c, then yes it’s hot 🤣🤣

pictoosh · Today 08:01

Eating outside in the beating sun. No thanks.

Me too. It happens every year, make provision for it and get over it.

You can make as much provision as it's possible to but many people are still way, way too hot and can't get cool again, can't function in it and still have to go to work, run a house etc etc. I'll moan as much as I like thanks and I'll only be able to actually 'get over it' when it drops to 20 again.

Oh and by the way, if it's so bloody wonderful, why do you keep parking your car in the shade? Leave it for those of us who are suffering.

Old people still going into town despite the heat warnings. Why do they do it ? It makes me concerned for them.
Ditto - runners but I think they are silly arses.
I lived most of my life in hot countries and people there respect the heat and its limitations.

Tell me you have no idea about people with heat intolerance, due to certain medications, without telling me. Ignorance.

Mapletreelane · Today 11:13

I have Irish and Welsh heritage so am very fair skinned and genetically designed for sub 17 degree weather lol! I get heat rash, have to put on factor 50 to prevent skin cancer which aggravates my heat rash, I sweat so the sun tan lotion gets in my eyes and they water, I'm bright red because that is how my skin reacts to the heat.....yeah so those who get fed up of people moaning come and live in my shoes.

My best ever holiday was on Iceland in October. Bliss!

I'm really not sure what the issue is here with BBQs.

If I go to the trouble of lighting a fire (wood or charcoal only for us) then I cook a lot more than we need for that meal. The leftovers go in the fridge or freezer so that we can enjoy barbecued food without the faff next time.

Also, just enough charcoal or wood to cook, say, chicken for four would cook fish or sausages for four as well, and I'm not in the habit of wasting fuel.

I take sertraline and its unbearable

RecoveringAli · Today 12:46

I hate the hot weather and don't usually go on hols abroad between June-august.

Except this year. Circumstances... we thought let's chance it. Sitting inside now in an air conditioned room, 35 degrees outside and i feel nauseous, exhausted, bored, as I can't move in the heat outside and i can't imagine doing any of the usual things we do when we're here.

Won't be doing it again. Should have known better... 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵

People who take their dogs out in that heat. Would these people want to walk barefooted on concrete and tarmac? No they wouldn’t
