Things you hate or find overrated in hot weather

. parents draping sheets over their DC in their pushchairs. It overheats the area

. BBQs especially when used too much lighter fluid. As it makes food taste of that. Plus need to BBQ about four meals worth of meat. if you did eat inside

. Going to crowded beaches. Struggle to park, queues for everything.

Yours?

Picnics. Happy to have a winter picnic, but hate batting away wasps and the inevitably slightly too warm food in summer.

Haha exactly this. I love the hot weather. It is week long bursts yet people of mn can’t cope. I don’t know anyone in rl who doesn’t love it.

I know many people who hate it, including me! I am on medication that means I have no temperature regulation, and intolerance to heat so I cannot cope with British summers. Bring back the cold and rain asap

Purplestarballoon · Yesterday 20:34

I like all the “summer” things people have mentioned and the warm sun on me until about 26 degrees and then anything higher seems to just mess with my head and make me feel depressed / anxious / sad / angry / on edge. It’s like that episode of Black Books, I’m always checking the temperature 😂

my top tip of the summer though is when I’ve been out walking about and got hot and bothered I run my feet under the outside tap and it really helps me calm down 😂😂

Edited

I don't get this salads thing when the UK gets hot weather. Do countries in warmer climates eat salads all the time? No they don't.

It just shows people's lack of imagination with food.

I use the microwave and multicooker (Ninja Speedi) in warm weather. As small area to heat up. That's even with my home which the kitchen, dining area and lounge are in one room.

Though one thing during hot weather, certain foods get reduced as no-one is buying them. If your freezer has space, you will be able to buy things like stewing steak, roasting joints (incl whole chickens) with reduced stickers.

Literally nothing.
Very happy to have sunshine, warm weather, eating outdoors, having a drink on a balmy evening, having a bbq, watching the kids play in the garden all day, wearing summer clothes.

I can’t relate to all the moaning at all.

I don’t feel that people realize how hot weather can make people feel ill. If your not prone to it yourself it does sound like moaning , but it makes me feel
drained and agitated. I just can’t handle any of it
You can’t make yourself cold easily. Some people can just deal with it and love it. I do envy them.

Some of us feel literally ill at high temperatures. It sucks the energy out of me completely. Don’t fancy eating, can’t sit out in the sun for long, unable to sleep. Where’s the enjoyment in that? 20-24 degrees is ok. Any more and it’s horrible.

hostleg · Yesterday 21:00

Why is it always crap music?

It's never 60s, 70s and 80s decent stuff

Cold dull dark weather makes me feel ill too. If you don’t feel like that I guess you wouldn’t understand.

SqueakyFromme · Yesterday 21:02

@hostleg but any meal all year round, not necessarily a main salad, benefits from a side salad, that’s what I often have, and it’s annoying when I can’t get a pack of tomatoes !

Kids that constantly scream. Earlier this year, a house at the back of me housed a family with 3 kids about 18-24. Didn't hear a thing from them. Now the new family have three girls 5-10 (guessing as rubbish at kids' ages) and they were bloody screaming in all the time May half term when it was warm.

I WFH 3 days a week and last summer, it was ok as didn't hear a thing from the previous family. Now its annoying. I wear a headset as usually on the phone to parties involved in my work and Teams chat with colleagues. But that I could hear the kids scream through that.

Including the ones in the premium ranges? I usually buy the bag of cherry tomatoes but once in a while, I get the nicer ones. I find the normal large ones - get in a pack of 6 are usually bland.

I eat salad of some description. Including after Xmas with the cold cuts.

Having lived here all my life, its fair to say this country doesn't deal well with hot weather. Either, the infrastructure or the people.

Lord help us if we ever get a super hot spell that lasts a month.

Whereas I’m like a lizard and spend the cold months freezing while wrapped in a heated blanket with chapped lips.

People moaning about the heat! A sun fairy dies every time someone does this - that’s why we were punished with a fortnight of cold, wind and rain, in June. Now we have the heat back, just enjoy it!

Wearing flip flops: I’ve always found them uncomfortable, and I can’t walk in them. I like seeing other people wearing them, though (including gnarled feet).

I'm glad you said that! I have a bunion and feel really self conscious in my flip flops especially knowing one of peoples' bugbears is ugly feet! But it's way too hot to wear my trainers! 😟
