Things you hate or find overrated in hot weather

. parents draping sheets over their DC in their pushchairs. It overheats the area

. BBQs especially when used too much lighter fluid. As it makes food taste of that. Plus need to BBQ about four meals worth of meat. if you did eat inside

. Going to crowded beaches. Struggle to park, queues for everything.

Yours?

People moaning about how hot it is. You’ll never hear me complain I’m too hot, I love it!

Same, this is my happy weather!
my biggest bugbears is seeing people’s ugly feet and having to go to boring work where it’s cold because when it hits about 20 degrees people insist on blasting the aircon to arctic temps 😂
fml we get warm weather so infrequently compared to crappy weather.
We do tend to steer clear of doing very much when it’s lovely like this, you won’t catch me heading down the beach for a day (if we do go we get there for 7am for a swim and leave at 8am!), or heading to a festival or crowding in a local park. We have spent time and money creating a lovely home and garden and these are the times where we reap these benefits so we are more likely to be found relaxing at home/garden and staying away from crowds/traffic/queues. We do feel exceptionally grateful to have outside space.

Doesn’t overheat if you keep air good either side which I always did, and used a thin muslin materials

I pretty much hate everything about hot weather. Give me a cold crisp day where I can see my breath!

With you. Reverse SAD sufferer who gets dangerously ill in the heat if I’m not careful. Currently highly resentful that the people complaining “we never get a summer “ always get it without fail! I can’t remember the last long term cold dry spell however.

Having asthma and hay fever is awful in UK summers. Never have an issue abroad.

I must be allergic to the UK

The mess and faff of sun cream is why I cover up in summer rather than going short-sleeved/bare-shouldered etc.
Get a load of nice light cotton or linen long-sleeved tops or dresses and you're sorted. Cooler than letting the sun beat down on bare skin too. And more chic, I always think; there's nothing nice about the sight of pink or roasted chests or backs.

I really need to get some nice linen tops/shirts thanks. Totally agree and nothing more tacky looking than vest tops with skin and bra straps hanging out everywhere imo

DaisyMayBojangles · Yesterday 15:57

People ( men) in shit cars who decide that as the sun is out they need to crank up their shitty, base-distorted stereos to treat everyone to their shit music.
I’ve often wondered if this is some kind of weird ‘mating call’ to passing women 🤔 it clearly doesn’t work.

Speaking to my husband

LlynTegid · Yesterday 16:00

The general lack of any style in the way people dress, though in the UK it's not much better the rest of the time. I agree with those who object to men without shirts- it should be that being without a top should only be acceptable where it would be ok for anyone to do so.

Gigglegiggle · Yesterday 16:04

Seeing other people's sunburn.

The amount of litter and waste left on our beach and parks

That other people buying all my favourite ice creams so there's none in the shop

YouBelongHere · Yesterday 16:19

Like others, I prefer the cold weather so I whinge about all of it!

Picnics - it's so much faff to eat crap food in a field surrounded by wasps and screaming kids. Every time the suns out my friends always suggest a picnic, there have to be other summer activities 😭

Noise levels - when people think everyone on the street wants to hear their shit music whilst they lounge in the garden or tinker with their car or do some other outdoor activity. It's infuriating.

Roll on Autumn!

henlake7 · Yesterday 16:31

Saw some bloke in Asda today with no shirt on, he had it tucked into his shorts. Presumably it was too much effort to just put it back on when he went into the shops!🙄

Invasion of public places. If you are a dog walker or outside exerciser your usual haunts are peaceful and quiet most of the year but the minute the sun comes out suddenly there are people everywhere (not to mention the rubbish they leave as well).

Sitting in the garden. It's not the same as being on holiday.

Sitting outside to eat lunch at a pub. It's humid, uncomfortable and I spend the entire time squinting because there's never enough shade.

Don't you own any sunglasses?

Try somewhere a bit more upmarket that has parasols.

Eating outside is lovely.

We did on Saturday, I still hated it!

the80sweregreat · Yesterday 17:51

Hot weather is overrated. I wish it would just do one.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · Yesterday 18:28

Bastarding fucking arseholes that are flies. Especially when its sticky and humid. They particularly love my poor whippet who snaps at them. And if one gets in the house I have to hunt the buzzy fucker down.

Don't eat crap food
Don't go somewhere where there are screaming kids
Stay indoors

NeedAnyHelpWithThatPaperBag · Yesterday 19:38

I wonder if this sort of weather becoming a regular feature of Summer will boost tourism further North, lol.

... Okay? Don't know why you're so grumpy on a thread about moaning LOL!!

ainsleysanob · Yesterday 20:00

BBQ’s. They irrationally anger me. As soon as the sun comes out everything apparently needs BBQing in this country as though it’s an exciting treat. If you must, just cook it in the house and eat it outside. Absolutely no need to BBQ anything.

BitOutOfPractice · Yesterday 20:03

Jeez you lot would most about having to go and collect the cheque if you won the lottery 🙄

teaandtoastwithmarmite · Yesterday 20:03

Eating outdoors

scalt · Yesterday 20:08

People moaning about the heat! A sun fairy dies every time someone does this - that’s why we were punished with a fortnight of cold, wind and rain, in June. Now we have the heat back, just enjoy it!

Wearing flip flops: I’ve always found them uncomfortable, and I can’t walk in them. I like seeing other people wearing them, though (including gnarled feet).

the80sweregreat · Yesterday 20:09

Believe me, if I ever win the lottery I’d happily go anywhere to collect the winnings ! Lol
I do believe that they may come out to you , but I’ll probably never know if that’s true or not ( or if it’s just a phone call and the money in a weeks time !)

CompleteMere · Yesterday 20:11

Other People. All of them. I can cope up to about 26C, 28 tops. Then they’re everywhere. Talking. Eating. Being hot in the place as me. My son still wants limpet hugs when it’s 30+.
