Told DP’s friend to F off

Was I wrong? DP’s mate held a house party for the England match. One of his friends approached me in the kitchen and said ‘nice legs girl. What time do they open’. I swore at him. He said he was joking. DP now saying he feels awkward. Was I OTT?

That’s vile would he like someone saying that to his sister or mum or daughter. Prick.

You have to be really confident that your audience has that sense of humour before dropping a joke like that, eek, awkward

No, in any situation to any audience that would be as funny as a kick in the nuts.

Bertiebiscuit · 18/06/2026 10:01

Dump both of them

Your DP's friend is going to get punched some day if he carries on making jokes like that so his friends should try to teach him what is, and isn't, appropriate rather than just making excuses for him. I would think a person with autism would appreciate your response, it was blunt and straightforward.

Something tells me this whole “he’s autistic and says inappropriate things” line is just BS

Is he a Max and Paddy fan by any chance?! 😁

Happyjoe · 18/06/2026 10:08

Know you know how your partner behaves whenever he's in the pub with his mates! Probably. Going by his reaction. How the hell is that a compliment?

Yucky.

Puddingwombles · 18/06/2026 10:12

You are not overreacting! I would have done the same. What a vile comment to make to you

Viviennemary · 18/06/2026 10:27

That's horrible. Was he drunk. Even if he was no excuse. What a horror.

SatsumaDog · 18/06/2026 10:30

What a foul comment! YANBU to have told him to fuck off. He’s feeling ashamed and awkward and rightly so.

Aluna · 18/06/2026 10:36

Can you not do better than DP?

NeedWineNow · 18/06/2026 10:38

If one of DH's mates had said that to me DH would be picking him up off the floor where I'd knee'd him in the balls. Then DH would have had a go at him and we'd have been on our way home. And finally he would have ditched said 'mate' and not seen him anymore. What a complete twat and no, he can't trot out the 'autistic and socially awkward' line to excuse what was a completely inappropriate remark.

BurtsBeefCrisps · 18/06/2026 10:49

Has DP got a daughter or sister?
Ask him if he’d react the same way if it was directed to them.
In your own home as well. Show him the results of this poll. Spineless idiot.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 18/06/2026 10:51

Gross. ‘Don’t you ever speak to my GF like that again!’ should be your DP’s response.

LeebLeefuhLurve · 18/06/2026 10:56

Good on you, but you have a bigger problem in your partner, his vile friend is further up the pecking order than you.

This is often common in men who live to impress their friends. The little woman on the side is the fuckable domestic appliance.

GSDLOVER · 18/06/2026 10:57

He would have had a black eye if he’d have said it to me and not from my DP!

Northernladdette · 18/06/2026 10:57

I wonder if he had googled bad chat up lines 🙄😡

Kd96 · 18/06/2026 11:00

DP can fuck off too!

hypnovic · 18/06/2026 11:00

DP needs to tell his mate to fuck off aswell. Vile

ToadRage · 18/06/2026 11:04

Your were tame I would have slapped the bastard.

How dare he. I'd have slapped his face.

ForLemonAnt · 18/06/2026 11:09

It's literally a quote from Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights.
Max and Paddy are the bouncers of the club, and Paddy says as people come through the door to the good looking ladies - "alright, ladies, nice legs, what time do they open?!"
Ladies - "Piss off!" 😁

Oh, I didn’t know that. It’s the only Peter Kay work we didn’t take to 🥴

HighHeelsRedLips · 18/06/2026 11:21

Your partner feels “awkward” ? He should feel angry towards his friend. What a disgusting thing to say. Your partner needs to man up instead of being so weak and pathetic.

Pessismistic · 18/06/2026 11:25

Aprill24 · 17/06/2026 23:58

He says I should take it as a compliment and that my friend wouldn’t have meant any offence, I am honestly seething right now

Op your dp is making excuses the friend knew exactly what he was saying. I would have told him to go fuck himself tbh you had every right to tell him to fuck off your dp needs to have words with him this is inappropriate behaviour and not ok.
