Furious with DH’s new England flag

NC’d for this. About half the houses on our street put flags up during the big football tournaments. DH put one up with his teams badge on at the weekend, and took delivery of a new flag today. He’s proudly displayed this - it’s a St George’s cross with ‘In Farage We Trust’ printed across the middle 😫

I’ve told him to take it down and that the neighbours will judge but he’s standing firm. Would it be wrong of me to tear it down myself?!

@SeriousFaffing “Flying the St George’s flag while trying to undermine everything that is good and world renowned about our country”

What happens when people disagree as to what is ‘good and world renowned’ about the country though? I mean that must be possible. There can’t be one set of views which are legitimate to hold, and another set which are somehow not.

Well that's when these wonderful critical thinking skills come in handy, which the left allegedly possess.

Well, it’s not really discretionary when people are shouting “this country is shit” (all the while flying the St. George’s flag).

It’s not about a this or that, or comparing our top ten of what we are proud of. It’s a matter of opinion… Except when there is such blatant hypocrisy.

There's a fair bit of hypocrisy when it comes to analysing the strength and weaknesses of England. Just because somebody is waving a st George flag, doesn't mean they can't have gripes about the county. That's a really bizarre take. Do you apply that logic to every country?

Maybe they really love their country, feel devastated that (as they see it) it’s in a terrible state, and want certain things to be done to make it better?

I know it probably sounds crazy but I reckon some people actually do think like that.

@LuckyHazelFox

It’s the hypocrisy that people don’t like. Flying the St George’s flag while trying to undermine everything that is good and world renowned about our country. Saying they are ‘patriots’ while peddling fear, hatred and mistrust.

There is hated and division being encouraged on both sides - why exactly do you think that is and WHO do you think is behind it?

People need to start asking questions and thinking critically. Stop believing the shallow messages you see on social media.

I personally found people ripping the flags back down and filming themselves stamping all over them hypocritical also. These people are complaining about supposed hatred and intolerance and don’t see the irony that the country they live in is so tolerant that you’re allowed to film yourself ripping down the flag and jumping all over it without worrying about recourse. I don’t think you’d get away with that in North Korea. I doubt it’d be tolerated in the US either.

I couldn't remain married to someone that dim.

I'd be finding an excuse to use it in place of toilet paper.

YABVU for not posting a link to the seller so real patriots can buy one for themselves.

I've looked everywhere for this flag.

I am wondering if the OPs DH had it custom made. Maybe by an affair partner ? I think that's the usual answer for anything unexplained when posted on MN ?

That's if the flag exists at all. I'm doubtful.
