Furious with DH’s new England flag

NC’d for this. About half the houses on our street put flags up during the big football tournaments. DH put one up with his teams badge on at the weekend, and took delivery of a new flag today. He’s proudly displayed this - it’s a St George’s cross with ‘In Farage We Trust’ printed across the middle 😫

I’ve told him to take it down and that the neighbours will judge but he’s standing firm. Would it be wrong of me to tear it down myself?!

Not even assault or murder, really?

Really?

Which political parties advocate for assault and murder as part of their manifesto @saveforthat?

No it’s not a case of opposing other flags. He said it will ‘get all the right people frothing’ so he knows it will wind some neighbours up.

Well it's certainly got people on here frothing. Some of the comments are hilarious. Ooh the outrage over a flag.

OP in the real world I doubt anyone will take any notice.

Any ‘woke lefties’ is what he said.

Hmm. Bit of a drip feed there, OP!

None that I know of but you said you couldn't think of anything more abhorrent than racism. No context was given.

Yes, I agree. Reddit anyone! I seem to remember a similar thread last year when all the flags were going up on lamp posts.

TheGreatDownandOut · 17/06/2026 18:27

If that flag was on any of my neighbours houses I wouldn’t even notice. But I do walk around with my head up my arse most of the time and am not prone to frothing over stuff.

I’m slightly offended by that, as if I’d ever post on there. At least you didn’t say Tattle, the dregs on there.

@MNHQ why was my post deleted?

Jesus all these racist accusations flying around. I actually believe that @JuliaMaesa may be joking here but not all Farage supporters are racists.

Let's be honest, there's a pretty strong correlation.

That would give me an ick big enough to leave him. Show him some of reforms policies for women and see if he still supports him.

Just look at the quote history @saveforthat

The context is contained therein

This made me giggle, perfect post 😁

But this poor man wants people to notice. He wants to wind up his neighbours. Do you think he’ll be disappointed?

PinkyFlamingo · 17/06/2026 18:49

I'm kind of guessing you knew he was racist though before this?

In your opinion.

gross!!!!

labamba007 · 17/06/2026 20:18

Seeing as he won’t take it down. Put up a Green Party support poster. If he wants to put something up that doesn’t represent your views you can do it too. I’d be embarrassed myself but almighty pissed off that my husband had zero respect for my wants. It would be divorce territory for me.

Does he realise that this little edgelord fantasy of his could get him a brick through the window?

I'm pretty absent minded but I do notice the flags. I suspect any person of colour notices them, feels a little stab of both fear and sadness and then tries to move on. Till the next flag. You are very privileged or possibly white if you can afford to not notice them.

Merryoldgoat · 17/06/2026 21:03

I don’t understand how if his support of Farrage is so abhorrent to you that it’s the flag that’s the problem.

He is a Reform supporter regardless of the flag. Is that acceptable if other people don’t know?

For me it would be a divorce.

Lol it’s got nothing to do with privilege and everything to do with not getting wound up by a piece of fabric.

Farage is a terrible football manager. All his attacks go down the right hand side.

🤣
