Who here would honestly happily contribute to George’s education costs?

Reported to be £68000 a year at Eton.

Well BoJo did, so anything's possible!

and he really is thick, like his mate Rees-Smug

Barely any hours worked?! You've got to be kidding. You obviously have no idea about the working lives of the royals.

Agreed. Such an ignorant comment. Borne out of jealousy and bitterness.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 16/06/2026 19:55

So, where would you like the future King to go to school? This smacks of jealousy. Get a life!

Local school to support the local communities. Isn’t their USP about supporting communities?

Pearshapedpear · 16/06/2026 20:00

🥱

Catsandcheese · 16/06/2026 20:02

I have no issue with it either in the same way as I’m happy for all the people who need disability payments from the government to keep a roof over their heads. Although the difference is stark isn’t it and you wonder why people end up booing the charming little princes and princess at the trooping of the colour.

OonaStubbs · 16/06/2026 20:02

He should go to a bog standard comprehensive in London IMO to show him how his subjects live.

Dorothyperky · 16/06/2026 20:02

@MinglyMadlyi absolutely agree nobody would want that job. At anytime they can be shot and killed. They went out on trooping the colour for our heritage and tourism without stab vests and body shields. Would you do it? Because I bloody wouldn't!
There was a mother in a carriage ( the Princess of Wales) with three children and no one to shield them. I have family in the police and the planning for these events is ridiculous. They are people not pop stars or tech mogals. Yes the King gets a stipend, nobody else does. He pays tax. Other people in the family do to.
Fwiw I wouldn't curtsey to anyone but they are here and doing their best in a difficult world ( remember the late queen had to suck up to despots, Robber Mugabe being one, feck that).

The FRENCH had the right idea!!! I'd like to see a gibbet in St James' Park. In fact, I'll go and erect one RIGHT NOW.
Is that in line with what you were hoping for, OP?

That’s exactly what the op was hoping for. Or maybe a firing squad. It would have to be in public place with plenty of opportunity for viewing. Horse Guards Parade maybe?

Horse Guards Parade way too London-centric. Much better filmed for a crap Channel 5 documentary on the royals and broadcast live to the nation.

38thparallel · 16/06/2026 20:03

Why?

So he can be given a hard time for the pleasure of anti-monarchists.

Most European monarchies manage to send their royals to the local comps. In fact, in Europe, private school is for special needs and expats that dont know the local language. Also, my understanding is that Charles got bullied in that school he went to, so the bullying argument is moot.

Most European monarchies manage to send their royals to the local comps.

Really? Which ones?

ShanghaiDiva · 16/06/2026 20:06

MinglyMadly · 16/06/2026 19:51

I really don't think they "have it good".

Would you want their job?

I wouldn’t want their job. However, they do ‘have it good’ - no concerns regarding their children’s schooling or employment prospects, no concerns about housing or income and absolutely no chance of sitting in urine soaked clothes in the majors department of A&E waiting for an overworked doctor to take a look at you.

Gonners · 16/06/2026 20:06

I wouldn't cough up for Eton. I might consider it for Winchester, perhaps.

I wonder that too. Even if it is true, who cares?! Doesn't mean the SECOND in line to the throne should. 🙄

WhatAMarvelousTune · 16/06/2026 20:08

I’m anti monarchy, but this doesn’t bother me. I’d rather he was at Eton than my local comprehensive - nothing against him, he’s a child. But who wants that circus.

Yeah, if he goes to a normal, public school like all other kids. Private schools should be funded by the parents privately. Obviously!

Source for the widespread booing please?

hyggetyggedotorg · 16/06/2026 20:11

Surely he won’t have to pay? Won’t wherever the royal children go be swamped by applications from parents desperate for their child to move in the same circles?

My cursory googling didn't turn up any European heirs 'going to the local comp'.

Didn't Princess Leonor of Spain attend an expensive boarding school in Wales?

I don't think Eton is struggling for applications!

He can't. The Government can (in his name as it is HRH's government) in certain circumstances but it has to be overseen by law. CPO's for example.

He cant just say "Oh I fancy that field, I am having it" Its just one of those old laws that has never been repealed but has been over written by new laws, like the ones about moving sheep and geese through central London!

That’s not quite right, it was used extensively in WWII but the government to requisition land for the MOD. So there is a precedent in living memory

Dontlletmedownbruce · 16/06/2026 20:13

Favouritefruits · 16/06/2026 19:43

It’s different, the children who go to private school have parents that work hard to pay for it!

Parents that get to go home from work and have days off. Royals are never off, they are on every day and always will be. Most of us would hate their lives. I couldn't resent them there wealth, it's only a tiny consolation IMO. I'm not a royalist, not even British so I guess my opinion doesn't really count but just giving my view.
