George’s education costs

Who here would honestly happily contribute to George’s education costs?

Reported to be £68000 a year at Eton.

The FRENCH had the right idea!!! I'd like to see a gibbet in St James' Park. In fact, I'll go and erect one RIGHT NOW.
Is that in line with what you were hoping for, OP?

That’s exactly what the op was hoping for. Or maybe a firing squad. It would have to be in public place with plenty of opportunity for viewing. Horse Guards Parade maybe?

Good for them, mine would have had that if I could have afforded it, their child their choice

FatRosie · 16/06/2026 19:28

It's an excellent school.

dottiedodah · 16/06/2026 19:30

As a Royal in waiting for the king one day .This is expected ,he is not going to the local comp anytime soon thats for sure! Its nice that he will be close to Windsor and able to pop back some of the time .No doubt Charlotte and Louis will have similar schools .in the future .Unless we dont have a monarchy this is what it will be

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 16/06/2026 19:31

George who?

LadyVioletBridgerton · 16/06/2026 19:31

I always find it funny when people say it’s ‘less than a penny per taxpayer’. Ok, fine, let’s take that as true because I don’t know what the exact figure is. However, if we were all given the option to opt out of paying this tiny amount, and everyone said ‘yeah ok’, and stopped paying, the Royal Family might suddenly realise how good they’ve had it for so long 🙄

Violinorbanjo · 16/06/2026 19:32

I am curious are the teachers giving him honest marks or are lying on the papers just because he is the son of their local god with small g

Boohoo76 · 16/06/2026 19:33

I think your outrage would be better focused on the pitiful amount the Government assigns to state education. Getting yourself worked up over how much Eton or any other private school costs is exactly what the education secretary wants as it takes the focus off state education and its inadequacies.

Favouritefruits · 16/06/2026 19:35

I get where you are coming from OP, it’s hurts and seems so unfair that one child is being given a brilliant education at the tax payers expense whilst children like my son go to a special measures high school where the GCSE pass rate is just 17%! Half of me thinks well it’s the government fault for not ensuring all high schools are at a great standard and half thinks my son and the rest of his school mates haven’t got a chance and it makes me cross.

I'm glad he's going to Eton and not the god awful Gordonstoun, which his grandfather described as "Colditz in kilts."

Eton is near to his home so I imagine he will still see his family regularly. In fact, did I read that he will flexi-board? So not boarding all the time?

Nice for him to be near home

PinkyFlamingo · 16/06/2026 19:37

What a strange question 🙄

Loulou4022 · 16/06/2026 19:38

Are you starting a go fund me for him? I’ll chip in!
Seriously though I don’t think his school fees are paid for by the tax payer! His parents private income will more than likely fund them. And tbh who wants a thick future king!!

I don’t think they need help with the fees. The sooner this lot are kicked out the better.
fingers crossed this one is never ‘king’ because it won’t exist.

NoMoreCoffeePlease · 16/06/2026 19:38

I don't want to pay towards his education, even if it is pennies. I would much rather have that £68,000 go towards supporting a couple of local charities. I don't like that I don't even have a choice. The rich stay privileged because the poor are forced to support them.

Anyone saying 'good on them, I'd do the same' - you are peasants.

Thindog · 16/06/2026 19:39

So lovely of them to support Eton, which is, after all, a registered charity. Lovely people.

PistachioTiramisu · 16/06/2026 19:39

AwksBut · 16/06/2026 17:57

I'd rather have an educated future king than an uneducated one tbh
William seems to have done well coming out of Eton
Many PMs are ex-Eton, and we vote for them to run the country

What's the real issue, OP

Just the usual jealousy because their little darling can't go there as they don't have enough money!

The BBC and other sources are saying he will be attending Eton from September.

Literally sending him to boarding school! Away from Horne.

Presumably you feel the same about all privately educated children?

Oreosandwiches · 16/06/2026 19:40

If we have to have a King I would rather he was moderately well educated yes.

Although based on Harry's books and his claims to be entirely ignorant of the basic facts about historical events such as the Holocaust I rather doubt that an Eton education is particularly good

bellocchild · 16/06/2026 19:41

They need to send him somewhere secure, close to home, and where he can be a normal teenager away from the glare of the media. He'll be in the public gaze all too soon.

You are deluded - the monarchy will go on because the majority of British people like and respect them.

anotherdaytosmile · 16/06/2026 17:56

I’ll chip in a tenner for the wee chap. Is there a link?

I'll chip whatever the bus fare to the local comp is, so he can go and meet some normal kids and have a normal education.

It’s different, the children who go to private school have parents that work hard to pay for it!

PistachioTiramisu · 16/06/2026 19:45

I really don't know what some people's problem is - my cousins all went to Eton and they are lovely, kind, respectful men. That is what public school teaches you apart from the brilliant education.
