On some cars, it can be an extremely fiddly task (my Vauxhall Astra is very difficult), sometimes involving taking off the whole of the front of the car. Yes, a main dealer wasn’t ideal, but changing a headlight bulb is not to be underestimated, even if the textbooks say “carry a set of spare bulbs so you can carry out a quick roadside repair”.
