It covered up his best feature - a strong, sexy, handsome jawline - and it was white, and it literally put twenty years on him. Made him look like an OAP. He wouldn't shave it off, though. Oh yeah, I had a friend who got a dog and refused to leave him at home alone, ever. And if she really couldn't avoid it, like a hospital appt, she would get a babysitter for him. Anyway, it really curtailed what we could do. We could no longer go to our favourite restaurant, in fact most restaurants were off-limits, it had to be dog-friendly pubs, couldn't go to the theatre or cinema, couldn't do this, couldn't do that. It was a gigantic PITA and really boring. I'm impressed that you managed six dates of being disappointed that so much stuff was out of bounds!

Oh my God, you know in the latest series when he's at a bar with Maud and she tells him that she has to keep working? The WAY he leans forward and says, very slowly and meaningfully, "Understood." How can ANYONE make ONE WORD so SO SEXY????

God, why do they do the beard thing if they know their partner hates it? I wouldn't constantly wear a pair of trousers that my OH thought were hideous. I found it really off-putting that his need to assert his independence was apparently more important than trying not to put me off sexually. We can't help what we find attractive, and if you want to do what you want the whole time, be single!

Sort of this. He didn't call his Mum but after we had had a few dates and got a bit intimate, he had a funny turn. Probably low blood pressure or something but he told his Mum (who was a nurse to be fair) but explained the detail he had gone into in telling her and I couldn't hang around after that. No way would I ever have been able to meet his parents for a start.

He was in my circle of friends for years after and it became evident that he told his mother everything.

That was fine by her but he was awful at it and the way he edged his way along, step by painfully slow step put her off him completely and she sent him home.
