What's hated on MN, but insanely popular in real life?

Disney World
Starbucks, Costa, Nero etc
Center Parcs
A sensible political stance
McDonald's

What else?

Duplicate post.

Private School Education
Finding joy in life
Liking your friends
Weddings
Enjoying Christmas
Communicating with your spouse instead of posting online

Crazy stuff eh 😂😂

This.

Seconded. Seems to have been an explosion of racism and homophobia on here of late.

I agree, MN seems pretty right wing to me (not Reform right, but pre Kemi Conservative right). Obviously not all, but I would say a majority.

Fully agree. But there are loads of posters on here who seem obsessed with posh people/think they're posh and that always comes with right-wing views.

Going against the grain and having your own opinion because you don't GAF about what some jaded keyboard warrior thinks and you're entitled to your own opinion and have enough self-esteem to not bow down to conform to the maniac mob.

Felt good to get that out....

No Reform are the extreme on the other side aren't they.

OK - then as a centrist I agree with you!

Kitchen roll. I wish I didn't use it but there we are, I'm going to hell.

No guilt here. I love a bit of kitchen roll, especially when it's coming up to Christmas and you get snowflakes printed on. I'll join you in hell, I'll bring my supply.

Historically slightly right of Center has been best for the country, be it the Labour party or Tories.

Probably anyone who has to ask.

So bored of the dogs are mean, dogs are scary, dogs are dirty, dog bit me for no reason at all, a random child and an elderly man whilst we were just sat there in our Bentley and minding our own business posts.......

I just feel sorry for all the children who are evidently made to be scared of dogs by parents telling them they’ll bite you/they’re dirty/ they’ve got germs, etc., instead of teaching them how to safely approach a dog, to ask the owner whether it’s OK to pat them, etc.
IMO they’re missing out on one of the great pleasures of life.

(obviously I know a lot of MNers will disagree).

Mother in laws - mine is lovely. I love spending time with her. My friends also get on well with their in laws. Just seems to be on Mn that people don’t.

Friends who won’t be there for you at 3am, which is the fundamental test of the worth of any friendship on MN.

That’s funny. I’d say the opposite. I think on Mumsnet it’s wildly unreasonable to expect anything of anyone at all, including friends, your parents, your colleagues. Whereas in real life people do help each other out.

JHound · Yesterday 11:20

I have never noticed men hatred on MN. Definitely no difference to real life.

I would say toilet brushes and workmen using your toilet.

1983Louise · Yesterday 11:20

Nice ham 😁

Burningbud1981 · Yesterday 11:22

Sex - only to be done to produce children. After then it should never be spoken of again. And if DH is asking for it he is a pervert.

Women who trust their husbands. If you do you’re seen as a “cool wife/girl”

new cars - everyone should be driving a 25 year old car that cost £100

Evening wedding receptions.. two tier weddings are rude apparently

Pulling a sickie.

MN has conniptions about taking time off work for any reason other than your leg has been severed and you're bleeding out, or you have sepsis.

(But also, don't go into work if you have a cold because you might kill someone vulnerable.)

And don't take your child out in their buggy with chicken pox because the virus will leap several streets away and make a beeline for the nearest pregnant woman who didn't have it/hasn't been vaccinated. Who knew the virus was so clever?

Having more than half a sherry at Christmas

Is that half a pint of sherry? I’m joining you for Christmas in that case

Burningbud1981 · Yesterday 11:26

Attending A&E only to be done if your head is falling off. Otherwise go see your GP

Booze is a funny one on here, there isn't much middle ground.

You are 1) an alcoholic if you drink more than a thimble of sherry at Christmas or 2) it's absolutely fine to drink 4 glasses of wine every single night.

But also it's perfectly fine to chug down the booze before breakfast on Christmas day because it's champagne! 🥴🤣
