This shambolic government - its utter chaos, the Tories were bad but Christ this lot are on another level.
Im really worried about where we’re heading, riots breaking out everywhere, the armed forces imploding, the police untrustworthy, we’re a laughing stock on the international stage.
Id say to call an early GE but I’m not a fan or reform either. At this point - I’d take the Tories back.
WTF is going on? I’m approaching 50 and I’ve never known the country in such a state.

AIBU to think we’re literally on the edge now? And what can actually be done to save it??

I am prone to anxiety so feel free to tell me on catastrophising

We've just got some really poor quality people in politics at the moment, across all political parties. It will be rough for a few years yet, but will eventually sort itself out. This too shall pass.

I mean did you read the lost of Boris Johnsons epic misdemeanours.

I live in the present day (I wish I could fast forward to when this wretched lot are out).

None of your business who I vote for.

Hint: It’s not Labour.

Dorisbonson · 11/06/2026 21:18

This is the worst government I have known. The last lot were useless and I wouldnt have them back. Reform look awful and an utter shambles. I dont know any political party that i would actually want to vote for. I would sooner have a coalition government and have a pick and mix of the better politicians from each party.

Lonelycrab · 11/06/2026 21:21

Growth figures aren’t negative

Immigration is markedly down too

Obviously the leadership of Starmers govt has been weak

But we have a 2 trn deficit and a flailing tax paying demographic, and we are now hostile to foreigners that might want to actively work here..

Do people really think a work shy populist keen on privatising the NHS, giving tax breaks to billionaires etc is going to turn this country’s fortunes around?

BruceGrobbelaar · 11/06/2026 21:07

Not going your way at the moment, is it?

Stick around, there might be another resignation tonight.

What on earth are you talking about? Labour resignations have approximately fuck all to do with me and nothing at all to do with any comment I’ve made.

KitchenReno · 11/06/2026 21:24

I don't like Farage. I wish Zia Yusuf and Kemi Badenoch would unite and form a party somewhere in between. They seem to be the only people talking sense whilst understanding the fine balance of navigating how the public feel but knowing where the line is.

Ta ever so.

This always happens. Blair bucked the trend somewhat (he was a closet Tory anyway) but people vote for ‘change’ and what they think is good old fashioned do-gooding socialism but what they get is loony, woke idealism to bankrupt the country.

We might have been able to weather that, 10, 20 years ago but in a world of economic uncertainty, climate change and political instability we can’t afford the luxury of sixth form debate society idealism.

cuddos for this post.

We’re not on the edge.

i’m 48 and I personally remember multiple years of riots.

we’re not (a total) laughing stock on the international stage.

there’s a disagreement about funding the army.
the world is not falling apart

Don’t think Putin will agree. We are a laughing stock on the international stage now.

Lonelycrab · 11/06/2026 21:30

Well, Makerfield BE is next week.

Maybe Burnham will be PM. I can think of a lot of worse options.

And then in 3 years there’ll be a GE.

Whatever happens, Badenoch will keep moving forwards. She's not putting in the hard graft for no reward. Reeves needs to go toot sweet. How on earth has she survived for so long?

Auroraloves · 11/06/2026 21:35

Nothing in the past 20 years has been worse than this lot. Next GE can’t come soon enough for me

Figgygal · 11/06/2026 21:38

The sky isn't falling
Crime rates are though despite what the main stream media wants you to think
Social media influence is destabilising the country through its undermining the government
Reform and mainstream media want you to be afraid and distracted by targeting people who don't look like you, the disabled, single mothers etc as it keeps them in power.
Trump is putting the global economy at threat.
Labour is eating itself which is frustrating but i would rather have Labour in that the alternatives

Meanwhile Putin has probably marked us down in his calendar.

Putin won't touch us, not militarily. We have nukes.

Where do you get that from? Starmer has good relationships with many leaders trump and vance are gasbags with nothing of value to contribute

Badenoch is full of shit. Thankfully most people seem to have worked this out. The Tories are finished.

She was crap, but her party realised it and got her out quickly. Starmer is shit and the people waiting online to replace him are even shitter
