My purchases…

Prescribed face cream from Dermatica. Initially to clear acne/stressed skin and through consultation with Dermatica now tretinoin, adjusted by Dermatica to increase strength. My skin is clear, bright and taught, large pores reducing. I read up on here for advice and codes. Threads such as this. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/_chat/5160597-has-anyone-tried-dermatica

Philips Lumea IPL - I have olive skin and really dark hair. After a year (treatment in Spring each year - so two rounds since I got it ) my legs are just about hair free. Underarms and bikini line still requiring more work.

£18 per year for my allotment. Stress free time, physical exercise, learning loads of new things (growing and cooking), meeting new people, fruit and vegetables that are amazing (smell and taste). Freshly picked tomatoes, lettuce, beetroot, raspberries and strawberries taste nothing like the supermarket equivalent. Gorgeous.

However, my robovac…he is programmed to go on but I seem to stop him more than he works! He gets stuck under one chair which I regularly forget to tip, requires frequent cleaning out and my shoulder length hair wraps and wraps on the brushes. He is ok…nothing more. Maybe an upgrade is needed.

Has anyone tried Dermatica? | Mumsnet

Overheard a lady sitting next to me at the hairdressers talking about Dermatica and saying great things about its products & her monthly subscript...

Oooh which one please. Have been through about 5 of the damn things recently trying to find one which actually works.

I’m adding to the request. We have three different can openers with one job to do, and they don’t. What is this mythical can opener which works?

My recent purchase is a robotic lawnmower. I enjoy gardening but not cutting the grass [there is a lot of lawn] and this is a game changer for me. Saves me time every week and the lawn looks much better!

Can I ask which one you got and if you'd recommend?

ParagonPark · 07/06/2026 18:31

I almost forgot! Noise cancelling headphones. I have an expensive pair and a cheaper pair, and a cheaper pair actually works reasonably well. I never go anywhere on planes trains and automobiles without it! I’m literally allergic to most people’s noise, on phones, on their intrusive videos, the crappy music, whatever!

A rice cooker, recommended by a friend who is Chinese.

I thought it would feel like cheating but actually it's amazing. I'll never cook rice any other way ever again (well, except biryani).

Which one did you buy?

Elsvieta · 07/06/2026 18:43

Mounjaro. Botox. A thing for organising my tablets. Varifocals.

Membership of English Heritage, Historic Houses, and the National Trust.

I am old. Oh, wait - I also love my new wireless headphones. Does that mean I'm not...?

Lulubo1 · 07/06/2026 18:45

A Rockit pram rocker! I didn't have one with my first child and wow...what an amazing gadget for my second kid. It might seem silly to some, but I love it

Fruitbatdancer · 07/06/2026 18:46

All this cat flap chat I’m tempted to get a cat so I can get the cat flap!

Eve Lom - hummed and haaed over the cost but got a discount code and have been ASTOUNDED at the difference in my skin. I’m mid 50s and I’m glowing

Never got on with the robot hoovers. Perhaps as we work from home and don’t want to under our feet, but also never that impressed with the clean and how long it takes to get everywhere (noisily). After a couple of robot hoovers went for a cordless Dyson. Roughly same price about 350 quid but so convenient. Just pick it ok and go and can do more
thoroughly in 3 minutes what took the robot 1-2 hours. Or more often just do a 30 second hoover of a corridor/the kitchen.

Brawsome · 07/06/2026 18:56

Bone conducting headphones are wonderful. You can hear what’s going on around you, listen to high quality sound, and very comfortable to wear. Excellent for running.
Also, before spending £££ on rice cookers, try Morrisons easy cook rice. Perfect every time. And very cheap.

I have this rice cooker

https://uk.russellhobbs.com/medium-rice-cooker-and-steamer-27030

For pp who asked about cooking other dishes in it, mine just does rice - it can do rice in stock, rice with peas in it, rice with coconut milk, etc but it basically just steams the contents until the moisture levels tell it "this rice is cooked", then it keeps it warm.

Medium Rice Cooker and Steamer

The Medium Rice Cooker and Steamer makes creating rice dishes effortless. Whether you’re batch cooking, or rustling up a risotto for the family - you can make up to 6 servings of cooked rice (up to 145 grams per serving). The automatic keep-warm featur...

Setting it to run at 3am instead of during the day was a game changer. We don't hear it and just come downstairs to a hoovered floor.

@midnights92 do you have the Oxo vegetable chopper with the grid/box or the one where you have to push a plunger kind of handle up and down? If it's the first type... is it strong enough to do root veg like carrots and swede? Thanks ❤️

Normal box one. Absolutely does carrots, potatoes etc. Had a few crap ones from Amazon but the oxo one is great.

A bean to cup coffee machine.

It's my baby, I have been moved to give it a little cuddle on occasion.

Yep, i love mine. I have a Sage Barista impress which I bought 18 months ago...I love it.

MummyWillow1 · 07/06/2026 19:34

With you OP on the snag tights. On the same theme - Molke bras and Step One knickers.

Cloth handkerchiefs - so versatile. Bit sweaty? Dab yourself with the handkerchief without risking leaving bits of paper behind. Runny nose? Blow as much as you like and don’t get a sore nose. Spill something? Mop it up easily. Need a wet cloth to clean your face/hands/clothes? Just run it under a tap.

Another thing is glass food containers, suitable
for freezing, oven and microwave and don’t go orange in the dishwasher.

Audible! Love having books to listen when out walking the dog/doing housework etc.

1st time getting a painter and decorator in rather than doing it ourself. Been great to go out for the day then come home to a freshly decorated room.

I use Bookbeat, I love an audio book

Beachtastic · 07/06/2026 19:39

These shorts for running. I already had some of their "buttersoft" leggings, based on a MN recommendation a while ago, and decided to check whether they also do short versions. Very happy to find they do! I have them in several colours and they're so comfy you forget you're wearing them.

I wonder if some PPs who have disliked the Snag stuff might prefer these.

I have leggings from that brand too. They're great! Incredibly comfy and flattering (well, as flattering as leggings can be I guess!)

But I do cringe when I see the term 'buttery soft'. Butter is greasy and sticky, not soft. Who came up with that phrase?

ReflectingPool · 07/06/2026 19:51

Two single duvets for our Superking bed. I've been thinking about it for ages but didn't want to fork out for loads of new stuff and worried it might not be aesthetically pleasing.

It's so much easier to change the bed now.

Yes they're great aren't they!!

Haha, re "buttery soft" - I've no idea, but when I'm wearing them I sometimes think "Ooohhhh, buttery soft" and stroke my legs. Sad, I know 🫣 but such is the level of satisfaction I get!!!!!!!
