Who's this new celebrity groper who's been ' hauled in' for questioning. I'm beginning to think they've got a supply of them at the BBC that they keep in a cupboard and they let one out evwry now and then when there's a bit if a slow news day.

I'll never forget the time when he had Kirsty Gallacher on his show and he hinted at the size of his appendage and said that he could "ruin her for normal men".

He's a very clever and normally erudite man, but what an extraordinarily sick and predatory thing to even think of saying, much less to actually say on national TV.

It fits with the Joanna Page article too as she was on his show in 2009. I don’t think she is the one that went to the police but maybe someone else saw her story and decided to!!

Don't think they're hauling Bruce Forsyth in for questioning.

Not unless they’re doing it by seance.

That's a ridiculous response. There are misogynistic sex pests everywhere in society, it's just that when it's a celebrity it makes the news (how many tens of thousands of people must the BBC employ if you're including via other production companies).

I agree, though I do think that when men are in a position of power, and paid a lot of money, many of them think it gives them free rein to put their hands on whatever or whoever they want. Company bosses, musicians, actors, footballers, MPs etc seem to be over-represented in the sex-pest stakes.

Could it be the motorhead turned farmer? Think he fits the bill too?

Could be, though his forte seems to be hitting people rather than sexual harassment.

I would be very surprised if it was him. My dad worked on newsnight with him and he was always a lovely guy and professional, was to me too. You can usually tell who the slimy arseholes are and didn’t get these vibes from him at all. Obviously that’s never an exoneration but would be very surprised indeed.

I really really don't want it to be him. I've only heard lovely things/get the impression he's always been a stand up guy. But there's that niggle of it's always the quiet ones you have to watch. I mean Jimmy Saville creeped me out from the get go but I was appalled when the Huw Edwards stuff came out because I didn't get that vibe in the slightest.

I assume he meant his cock is so big that after him any other man would be a disappointment (ie ruin her for normal men) rather than he would actually harm her.

It use to be a jokey thing to say......

If it’s the person/brand of sage and onion referred to earlier, the quiz show was filmed in Manchester. I’d be surprised if it was him as I was a contestant on said quiz show at that time and got zero odd vibes - but you never know, sadly.

@KnitFastDieWarm and @VivienneDelacroix thanks for helping to confirm it's unlikely to be him! Didn't realise that was filmed outside of London.

VeryLittleOwl · 07/06/2026 09:05

Top Gear was filmed at Dunsfold Aerodrome, so not likely to be any of them.

MasterChef films in Birmingham now, but was at 3 Mills Studios in Stratford for years and is made for the BBC by a production company.

Has been known for his radio...

Was a red-head?

There are links with the areas mentioned.

" The sex pest stakes". It sounds like something you'd go down the betting shop and put a few quid on. 😆

It's a revolting thing to say, however it's meant.

I had the misfortune to meet Knick Nowles around this time (2005/2006) …. I would bet my house on it being him.

I just read the metro article and it contains this line

The presenter has not been arrested at this stage – but if he is, and if he’s charged, it will be a real bombshell.

I dont have any speculation who it is, but im.not sure that "middle aged man who worked at the BBC is guilty of sexual offences" is really a bombshell at this point, they just join a list....

It is already known Russell Brand is charged with sexual offences and his trial is set for October, so im not sure why people are being cryptic about him, I dont think he hosted any prime time shows in that period.

But that would be 'I will ruin other men for you', surely?

Horrible either way.

daysofpearlyspencer · 07/06/2026 09:35

A redheaded presenter once stole the bombshell catchphrase whilst on the One Show, to annoy the farmer...

Quine0nline · 07/06/2026 09:37

I'm surprised no complaints of either sexual shenanigans or racism have arisn from chis tarrant and Lenny Henry on OTT - over the top in the 1980s.

Edited

The term bombshell is linked to the catchphrase of a particular presenter. But there are other factors such as the production company that don't add up for that. I don't think it'll actually be a bombshell/shock

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if it was him.

He’s well known in the industry for being a compete creep and puzzled me for years as to why the BBC continue to employ him because one day, someone will spill the beans.
