Were you there when she did it?

What difference does that make? She had to sign the accounts off. I would hope that she’d take that seriously. Is it okay for her to say ‘yeh, whatevs’ and just sign it in your book? It’s not in mine.

It was irritating to keep hearing 'me me me' in this interview.

So she was asked about herself. Do you think she should have ignored that and spoke about other people?

Zebrah · 01/06/2026 13:09

Politicians. If that’s your biggest argument…

Edited

My "argument" is people opining on a topic they clearly know nothing about.

GooseCreekandtheRiver · 01/06/2026 14:00

@Differentforgirls are you deliberately trying to drive people off the thread with such a huge number of overly pedantic and faux naïve posts?

It was quite a decent and informative debate up until that point.

Would you like to articulate your actual views?

She shut down questions about where cash was being spent. She ignored auditors who resigned in protest at not having access to the information needed to do the job. She made recorded statements telling people to stop questioning whether the SNP finances were being properly managed.

In ordinary busniess that makes her culpable.

Edited

Has she did something personal to you?

I have no time at all for NS and am also gender critical so you’ll know my views on the GRA, men in women’s prisons, etc. I am absolutely anti independence too. But I have separated this current “ did she know” question from that. It’s possible to despise the politics and anti women policies whilst considering this separately and reaching an independent conclusion.

You're probably the most intelligent person on this thread!

She's not really doing Sturgeon many favours.

Everybody is entitled to judge and comment. Your nit picking isn't going to stop that.

SHE DIDN'T.

Randomchat · 01/06/2026 14:09

I feel a bit sorry for her on a personal level. I think it's entirely plausible that she didn't realise the value of the stuff coming into her home. The salt grinder in our set it a bit dodgy right now so if dh came come with a new one I'd think he'd picked it up in tesco for £20 and eould be grateful. It wouldn't enter my head in a million years to ask him if it cost £2,000. I know jaguar cars are expensive but I don't know how expensive. It might be a lease arrangement or something, whi knows. She didn't drive, they had separate finances, she didn't care how he financed his car. She didn't think he had financed it by embezzling £££. That's not unreasonalble. That wouldn't be my first thought either.

But then on a professional level I 100% agree with @montysmaw about this

Daily accounts were below her pay grade yes.
However any leader should have sat up and taken note when allegations of a £600k fund going missing were raised.
She shoild also have paid attention when half the finance comittee resigned when her husband would not allow them access to the books to audit them

She was totally negligent in this. Whether because she didn't care enough, actively wanted to hide something, considered she had other more important things to worry about- who knows. It would be good if she could be honest about that.

She must be pretty confident that she's not going to be charged herself given that she's done a pretty high profile interview already.

Differentforgirls · 01/06/2026 14:12

BirdyBedtime · 01/06/2026 13:11

This 1000%

My view is that she probably didn't know what was going on (at least to start with or the full detail) but whether that's because she didn't want to know so didn't look too hard only she knows.

But I think the things she has said recently about 'not consciously noticing the motorhome, or if she did she probably would have thought it was the neighbours' are clearly post-facto rationalisation. The level of lack of engagement in her own life that her account of things would have required is astounding - and this from someone who was supposedly qualified to run a country (and a £55bn-ish budget).

So she either turned a blind eye or her marriage was such a sham that she was not close enough to see what has happening. Neither of these are good things.

And the whole 'poor me, I'm living a sentence for a crime I didn't commit' make me feel very angry when you think about the sentences that some people have had to live eg not being able to see dying family or go to their parents etc funerals during Covid. It's the STAGGERING lack of self awareness that really jars with me.

The biggest % you can EVER have is 100%. But I am interested in what 1000% is. Can you explain it?

HootyMcBoobys · 01/06/2026 14:12

It's just a pity she won't end up in jail with a lovely brick shitehouse of a rapist as a cellmate. Perfectly willing to allow this for other women though.

That would have been poetic justice on a delicious scale.

1000% is 10 times as much, because 100% is a whole. So 1000% of 10 would be 10 x 10.

If you had a £200 pepper grinder for example, then 1000% of that cost would be £2000.

It's not Arabella coming across as a man. Your posting style is very aggressive.

So this situation that you claim to oppose on feminist grounds would be okay if it happened to a woman you don’t like?

I’m sure you realise the women in prison will also have done things you wouldn’t approve of. Some things much worse than lacking professional oversight of their organisation. Worse than making bad policy decisions. Much worse even than embezzlement, if that’s what you think Sturgeon did.

So maybe it’s okay if they too have to share a cell with a rapist?

Brace yourself, but - ArabellaScott isn't actually my real name, either.

However, I am indeed female. One of the boring cunty types.
