I have a heap of animated characters that my bro and SIL bought me for Xmas year on year. The ones where you press a button and they sing and move a bit. I bloody hate them but, analysed, they are so well designed and made, I don't want to throw them away. I will but I don't want to. It feels wrong but I can't donate them as the battery has long since died.

So much crap manufactured and then thrown away in this world.

ChillyToday12345 · 30/05/2026 11:33

Great thread. I've seen many things i forgot I have.

Various foundations - il makiage, Laura Gellar and the ones that go on white and change colour. Don't usually bother with any makeup these days.

Blackhead removers - sticky nose strips, green pritt stick style stick and a powerful sucker thing. Don't really use any of it.

Shark 5 in 1 airwrap type thing. The curls do work but just take me too long. Just use it as a regular hairdryer.

Wild mint skincare products - quite nice. Trying no 7 vitamin c radiance stuff at the moment though.

Skin and me - do still subscribe to that and use it.

Was going to say no kitchen products I can think of other than an airfryer but that gets used all the time. But now remembered a ninja indoor grill plate and a ninja soup/sauce maker. Do really like and use the soup maker.

My latest item i am currently waiting on for it to arrive is a monocolour colouring book from still and slow! Anyone tried it yet?

Sproutling · 30/05/2026 11:37

Another Purdy & Fig victim here- I stuck with them for over 4 months then saw the light

Emma Bridgewater pottery - bought the centenary Votes for Women mug, too small and started to 'craze' inside very quickly- luckily only bought the one, as I dithered about selecting other items and the faults showed up before I made a big order.. though went with Denby as also influenced and now cant replace my noodle bowls grr😂

minipie · 30/05/2026 11:43

I have almost none of this, my social media ads are all jewellery and sofas.

I did buy the Norse anti acne system - never used it, too faffy - and 47 Skin - don’t know if it does anything as I’m using it too sporadically to tell. Smells lovely though. Skin & Me was less effective for acne than the stuff from the GP (Epiduo).

Bought a Babyliss Big Hair which pulled my hair out. A big wave crimper thing which just made my hair look ridiculous. And GHDs for doing those beachy waves which I can’t seem to master. Am now contemplating a Dyson Airwrap but really ought to learn my lesson!

I don’t have the Halara shorts but they look just like some I bought on Amazon - without any influencer involvement.

I’ve just ordered glass guard 😆

omghereistrouble · 30/05/2026 11:43

a boxed spiraliser still in the box on top of the cupboard, bought then realised courgettes would still taste disgusting
The crap recipe books from SW, if you still believe in them, you can download the recipes for free
steam mops first was rubbish and then I thought oh I will try again nope rubbish

ChillyToday12345 · 30/05/2026 11:44

I have almost been tempted with the purdy and fig so many times so I am glad to see all the comments about that one. Thank you!

Keep thinking of more things I have. Have the carpet fluff scrappers which I do like and use.

Coffeeisnecessary · 30/05/2026 11:47

This thread has been so useful (and eye opening into how easily I'm influenced!) so glad to read this as will now steer clear of purdy & figg which I've nearly done so many times, and the foundation one. I do love my nordic socks though.

Coffeeisnecessary · 30/05/2026 11:48

Also have the halara shorts and I do like them and am tempted by the longer length ones which they keep advertising, but I'm sure there are as good ones out there on the high street.

StarCourt · 30/05/2026 11:48

Phonicshaskilledmeoff · 29/05/2026 23:21

im about to be influenced - the Halara shorts! Does someone need to stop me?

Not sure on the shorts but I have 4 pairs of their jeans and bloody love them

likelysuspect · 30/05/2026 11:49

Oh dear more things I remember from other posts reminding me.... weighted hoola hoop, yes hanging on the back of the living room door.

Charcol toothpaste, makes no difference

A big wave crimper thing for my hair which hopefully Ive now binned. Used twice.

Various packs of home eyelash perm and home eyelash dye and home eyebrow dye. Never used any of them. Binned.

Supplements that sit there until they go out of date. Not used. Binned.

Shodan · 30/05/2026 11:51

I was waiting for a delivery before commenting but...

After what feels like years of seeing the ads for the jelly bras, I now have 2, and they are very, very comfortable 😁Now, since I've literally only just got them, I can't speak for their longevity, and I'll admit I think I bought too big a size, because I've had to use the tightest band setting, but omg the comfort. And they look much better than the crop top type bras I usually wear.

Definitely worth the long wait!

Bulbsbulbsbulbs · 30/05/2026 11:51

Tallow and fucking Ash. It smells of nothing after you have dried the washing. They tell you to use twice the amount specified on a half load of washing!

ThisOliveKoala · 30/05/2026 11:52

Swizzel000 · 29/05/2026 22:35

those jelly bras- bloody lush and a good buy!

I have just been influenced, I’ve gone onto their site and can’t see sizing guide, I’m a 32E (I will be getting bigger in currently 6 weeks pregnant) so q is what size should I buy? M? Or L to grow into?

StarCourt · 30/05/2026 11:53

CoraPirbright · 30/05/2026 08:47

I love the Elevate collagen powder. Terribly achy hips no longer aching and my skin is definitely a little bouncier. I haven’t changed anything else so can only put it down to the collagen. Don’t care if its the placebo effect - just delighted not to be aching anymore!!

The Elevate powder ( Vanilla and Chocolate ) tastes bloody awful and makes me heave

PonderingWonderings · 30/05/2026 11:57

AhBiscuits · 30/05/2026 08:59

I've got them and they are fantastic. Instantly ordered some for DD.

Which shorts, specifically?

I don't like courgettes 'mucked about with', but I do like them cooked simply. All I do is cut them into rounds, put on a foil sheet, add salt, pepper and butter. wrap the 'parcel' and cook for about 20 minutes. They are really nice, buttery and soft with a unique flavour!

Kazzaa46 · 30/05/2026 11:59

Halara stuff I got influenced on tiktok to buy:
Corded trousers- Unflattering and oversized
Jeans- These are actually pretty good and comfortable, I have 3 pairs but sizing inconsistent and the waist control ones are tight on waist. Plus 2 pairs stunk of chemicals and still do a bit.
Wide leg waffle trousers- I can’t deny they’re really comfortable but they claims they don’t need ironing is rubbish and they’re polyester so not breathable.

Halara is a nightmare to return hence why it’s always being sold on vinted.

Geeks collagen glow up- been taking for 8 months, hasn’t done a thing.

MurkyMo · 30/05/2026 12:02

I bought the Norwegian socks and they are shite! Different sizes within a pair. Terrible quality, thin and short. You're not alone OP! I drew the line at Purdy & Fig though, those 2 gave me the creeps

MaCheCazzo · 30/05/2026 12:03

lazyarse123 · 30/05/2026 08:37

Mine's a JML hurricane spin scrubber. You really don't want one.

Yes that's the one. Big long unwieldy stick of uselessness. I should throw it out because I get angry every time I look at it almost as if I live on in some kind of futile hope that the next time I use it it will be amazing. It won't.

notacooldad · 30/05/2026 12:05

My main thing is the whirly bath and shower brush scrubber. That needs to be rehomed.

I did buy some neck blocks to help align the neck and prevent snoring buy one get one free and returns available. Didn't work, uncomfortable and the postage for retun cost more than the gadget.

Im sure there are other things but they stick out the most.

StarCourt · 30/05/2026 12:06

MissSkate · 30/05/2026 09:30

I'm being seduced by the Halara jeans and linen look trousers too. Is anyone a size 18? What size did you order and are they true to size?

I’m a size 18 and have 4 pairs of their jeans in Xl, they are so comfy and I love that I can get them in Tall length

MaCheCazzo · 30/05/2026 12:09

Those Jelly bras look great but what if you're bigger than a DD cup? Any alternatives that anyone knows about?

SusanChurchouse · 30/05/2026 12:09

Yeah, the Crimpet was shite and is now sitting in a cupboard somewhere.

Another Purdy and Figg victim but thankfully managed to cancel before the refills.

Some non wired bras (Wilde Mode?) that were rubbish and didn’t fit, despite supposedly being made to measure.

I finally relented and got an instant boiling water tap after years of seeing the adverts and I do love it. Also love the air fryer and use it all the time.

ponyprincess · 30/05/2026 12:16

Cooling blankets. I almost wish I had never tried and lived in a world where they exist as a possibility.

Edit typos

Another one with a Spiraliser.

First time I used it i made a massive bowl of veggie courghetti bolognaise

Literally within 30 minutes I was flipping starving, what a waste of time that was!

I have been taken in by a Yarn Advent Calendar this year, £180. I could just buy that quantity of yarn or dye my own for probably £60 max but it looked very pretty 😳. Also mad that I paid that in April and have to wait until December!

Try the Wee Country Yarn advent calendar, great value.

Not advertised yet but I had one last year and made a lovely cowl.
