AhBiscuits · Today 09:50

Good:

The original Philips air fryer from the 2010s
Smol dishwasher tablet subscription
Robot hoover
Robot lawnmower
Perfect fit blinds
Original ninja blender

Bad:
Fancy ninja air fryer
Shark hoover
Ancient and Brave collagen (I can’t get over the taste of fish)
Coffee pod machine (didn’t realise how much faff there was in recycling the pods)
Grind compostable coffee pods (to deal with the recycling issue - but the coffee is crap)
Many many different brands of water bottle

I am looking at the vibration plate right now. Its under the sofa opposite me. Has been there for about 2 years. Used about 3 times.

See I feel like I should use it today now. 😂

I bought a spiralizer as I grow courgettes. Unfortunately the bloody things hide and grow to gigantic proportions and they don't fit on it. Teaspoon for scale.

@TroysMammy I think you have influenced me into growing courgettes 😅

Oh God, I came here thinking I was quite resistant to the hard sell, but sure enough:

Shapermint vest thing- just kept rolling up and wasn't supportive enough without a bra.

Il makiage foundation- I actually really like it; am I alone?!

Must Have Ideas jumper bobble-remover and mould remover (again, both pretty good).

Puzzle feeder for the cat- apparently I can sod off with this bullshit and he'll stick to destroying the loo roll, thanks.

I've held out on the air fryer because of limited worktop space but feel certain I will give in eventually.

Very glad to have shunned Purdy and Figg, spiralisers and steam mops.

Any other Vivaia shoe-owners? I've bought two pairs and ruined one by washing them (do not do this- the smell was unholy).

Oh, and my dad had the singing fish and the whole family absolutely loved it- a very happy memory so worth whatever he paid!

Now, what are these Halara leg-thinning shorts of which you all speak.....? Why are they different from similar-looking shorts? Tell me the secret!

My latest kitchen gadget purchase was an electric egg boiler, recommended by my sister who lives in the US and uses one all the time. I’ve got arthritis in my hands and am finding my stainless steel pans a bit heavy to lift up. I absolutely love it! I can hard boil 6 eggs at a time ( I eat 2 a day on my high protein diet) just by pouring a little water from a provided mini jug into the base and switching on. In 9 minutes I have perfect hard boiled eggs. No more pan boiling over when I forget to watch it!

It’s quite small and fits in my pan drawer when not in use. I can also make poached eggs as well in a plastic container that’s included although I’ve not tried that yet.

I have a Karcher window vac languishing in the garage, it was ideal to get up the daily condensation from my windows before I went to work but once I had a positive air extractor fitted, I no longer get much condensation and my cleaner prefers to use a spray and cloth! I must find someone to give it to, my increasing problems with my mobility means I won’t be able to use it anymore.

My children call me the gadget queen but every now and again they agree that some gadgets are very useful - but not all of them! My daughter recently permanently “borrowed” my collapsible food storage containers which stack neatly and don’t take up much room so I had to buy some more from Just Have Ideas, one of my favourite gadget shops along with Lakeland.

This thread is hilarious and makes me very happy I came off social media 9 months ago - mainly to stop buying loads of crap that I got influenced to buy

These are the shorts I have. I don't know if they make my legs look thinner, but they are very comfortable and flattering and they wash well. I've worn them camping and to the beach.

90% of my wages at college went to The Gadget Shop.

I have fallen for a few things from musthaveideas, most of which have not lived up to their promise. For example:

Crystals that you chuck into the toilet bowl to create a foam that magically cleans your toilet. The thing is, you are supposed to start with a clean toilet before you use them (right!) and then they keep your loo sparkling clean for longer. No. They don’t. I’d prefer not to go into detail about how I know this as some people might still be eating their breakfast.

A tin opener that runs around the lid, cleanly lifting it off with no sharp edges. Again, no. I got so fed up having to reposition it after watching it nibble 1cm of tin at a time that I went back to my manual tin opener.

Also, a few years ago I fell for the whole Koh thing. A refillable spray of environmentally friendly, asthma friendly cleaning product that came with ‘special’ microfibre cloths. Honestly, it was basically water and elbow grease. The spray bottle is brilliant though. Nice consistent pressure. I still use it for, well, water!

So many expensive skincare products.
It's got to be the most fraudulent industry there is.

MN made me buy that bloody waitrose bottom butter that went viral. Greasy goop that it was, no way would I have put it on my face like they all raved about. It barely made it onto DCs bum before I heaved the tub in the bin and went back to bepanthen .

Wow. That's a throwback!

Got apple cider vinegar for toning my face after the internet raved about it. Immediately broke out in hundreds of tiny blisters.

I was almost persuaded to buy Purdy and Figg until my neighbour told me it was shit.

I have the halara shorts and have passes the exercising in them test so I’m happy with them, although a zip for the back pocket would be handy.

A Tiba + Marl? Baby change bag, about a decade ago. It was all over Instagram. Really expensive, not that practical and fell to bits. I blame baby brain for spending my statutory maternity pay on it 😕

Air Fryer - DH thought this a waste of money as we'd just fitted a new kitchen with double oven but he uses it more than I do. It does great crispy fries. It's a small Corsori one. Doesn't take up a lot of space and looks quite stylish.

Skin & Me with Tretoin - great for sun damage/ pigmentation.

I've had my eye on the Nordic socks so I'll be buying those!
