British behaviour in holiday hotel

We are staying at a good all inclusive resort (yes, I know all inclusive is not high end, but this is about as good a one as you can get). I am just shocked and ashamed at fellow british people at breakfast time. Letting their kids make a huge mess by allowing them to get their own food. Huge amounts of wasted food. Multiple untouched plates left on tables. Total disregard for others barging round, blocking walkways etc. When did this become ok?? AIBU with expectations? Bear in mind this is not a cheap rubbish tui-blue type place. I dread to think what they are like!

They didn't know that it 'was' a language, the notion of other languages existing is a good start when claiming to 'know' how the world thinks, it's not very convincing otherwise.
Peace out man!

Of course she knows other languages exist. You posted a few unfamiliar words. They could have meant anything. If you were trying to be ‘clever’ or funny, you failed and looked foolish to most people.

I have food OCD and I refuse to eat at buffets. I wouldn’t stay at an AI resort if you paid me, for the very reason that everyone is helping themselves to a buffet. I’d starve. I think if you do book to stay AI, you know what you’re getting yourself into. You know children will touch. You know people will heap their plates full and you know people will push in to different sections of the buffet rather than wait. So you chose that. No use complaining about it later.

I mean to you or is 'most' being used here like the view of Brits abroad i.e. for some personal, bewildering, xenophobic reasons.

Calling a poster 'psychotic' when they are pulling you up on your xenophobic remarks is all the behaviour of someone with no argument. Actually, just as you are doing, do you agree with xenophobia then?

FFS the accusations are coming thick and fast.

People have said they have not enjoyed holidays due to the behaviour of some Brits in AI places.

They are xenophobes apparently.

Repeatedly asking people if they are Russian is fine apparently.

And the posters who slagged off Irish people, Chinese people, German people and A Russian people are all good because... They aren't insulting British people.

I will say it again. Nearly every nationality I know (I have lived in many different countries and travelled extensively with work) seem both aware and nonplussed by how the world views them except for the British and the Americans who are often deluded.

Who called whom psychotic? The fact you are now accusing me of xenophobia when I have not mentioned anything about Brits abroad just shows your bizarre mindset!

The poster you are defending, it got deleted and they asked for their comments to be withdrawn at 22.16.

Do you understand the meaning of the word, 'accusation'? I didn't accuse you of anything, I'm asking whether you think xenophobic comments are acceptable as the poster you are defending so passionately, has littered this thread with xenophobic remarks. Do you think xenophobia is acceptable?

Goditsmemargaret · 26/05/2026 11:45

In my experience British people are not as you describe.

Your first comment about British people not tourists I note.

I didnt ask for my comments to be withdrawn at 22.16. What are you on about?

Edit: ah I see mumsnet have written on that comment "withdrawn at posters request". I didnt ask for it to be withdrawn. I presume mumset must have clicked the wrong button when deleting it.

Well when she is still writing about me and says things that aren't true to other posters, I decided to stand up for myself. She's a right one!

My apologies.

Many British people I have enountered while holidaying in AI resorts (which I will never ever do again for fear I will encounter similar types.)

Are you Russian?

Are you going to answer this post @goldenbear? It's strange how you never answer any questions about your behaviour

She prefers to go back pages reply to a quote then five minutes later reply to the same quote with further thoughts (usually about Russians who are fair game it seems).

Goditsmemargaret · 26/05/2026 19:59

So so true. Both nationalities with such a high proportion of tourists seemingly oblivious to how obnoxious they are.

My goodness, if this doesn't constitute a big stream of invective xenophobia, I can't imagine what you view as racist!

No I am not a fan of xenophobia.

I don’t know if technically the comments on this thread are actually ‘xenophobic’ if it is British people talking about other British people. Xenophobia is a dislike of people from other countries I think (xeno meaning stranger/foreigner in Greek as you would know from your extensive knowledge of all languages). Stereotyping/discrimination possibly, I don’t know if this counts as xenophobia.

Anyway, from seeing how you debate on ‘London’ threads, and on this thread, I don’t really want to get into a circular and pedantic argument with you so you can have the last word here.

Maybe it's just something that people in her circles say? Sort of like "are you having a good day"

But they are not British so it does meet with your definition.

Goodness me keep up, they did and that is why their posts were withdrawn by Mumsnet and by themselves. All this faux ignorance is getting tedious
