I wear big comfy pants. I’d like to understand why people wear uncomfortable looking underwear

Is it for men? If so why wear it on a daily basis when you’re not having sex? If you lived on a desert island on your own would you still wear the uncomfortable itchy lace stuff? Aibu

I don’t wear massive pants but I’m not a fan of lace or anything thong like. I prefer a mini or bikini style brief. Comfortable and don’t stick up your bum but without too much excess material. I don’t like to feel like have a wedgy all day long.

I’ve never found thongs comfortable as I can feel the fabric between my bum cheeks, and they rub. I used to be very slender so it wasn’t a weight issue, maybe just a bum shape issue ! I think big pants can look really glam or sexy, that isn’t solely the preserve of thongs and tiny pants, you can get beautiful big pants ! I wear mid rise or big-ish pants all the time since having children as lower ones sit in my c-section scar which I hate the feel of. So they have to come nicely above the scar now.

My daughters wear thongs and I don’t get it. Tiny scratchy things. my Sloggi Romance briefs dwarf them on the rack! But they swear they are comfortable.
Is it like high heels? People who don’t wear them don’t get it. I have an aunt who wears heels every day, even for shopping trips and swears they are comfortable. I think she just doesn’t like the idea of herself in comfortable shoes.
I like a bit of cotton between me and my trouser gusset.
