AIBU to ask for a refund on a seaview caravan upgrade?

Generally feel like I have a point but dh thinks not.

We are currently at haven seton sands for a 3 night break which cost us just under 800 pound ( that includes 25 so we can choose our check in time)

We booked a seaview gold caravan but feel like it's definitely not worth the extra pounds especially when other caravans have s better view. If we booked just a gold caravan ot would have been cheaper.

Aibu to Ask for a refund between a seaview gold and a gold caravan?

The booking advert that OP showed upthread promised a ‘stunning sea view’. Stunning.

Is that the sea behind the bushes?

Why would you pay £800 for a 3 night caravan stay?!

RodJaneandBungle · 16/05/2026 04:47

You’re right to feel conned. Is the photo you showed of the last place you stayed in very similar to what they illustrated this view would be like? Or what you (understandably) were hoping for? They may say to get that kind of view you’d have needed to book our Delixe Van with Uber Sea View, complete with mermaids & dolphins for £££ more. It’s worth trying but I doubt you’ll return & would be good to leave a review for others At least you aren’t overlooked but a real con imo.

It's roughly 200 more for a sea view

I have never understood the paying for a view. Whenever I go on holiday I never look at the view. I’m either sleeping or out and about.

CrustyBread1977 · 16/05/2026 05:13

I know that park and I don’t believe there are any stunning sea views! What an absolute rip off.

I have to admit I’m stunned. We rent a French house out for less than that. It sleeps 7 and while you can’t see the sea (it’s in the mountains) the views aren’t bad!

Mamaneedsgin · 16/05/2026 05:27

I would definitely complain to guest services. We paid £250 for four nights at Seton Sands during the Easter holidays so £800 seems crazy, and the layout of the park means there can’t be many caravans with “stunning” sea views.

I got a refund after paying extra for a dishwasher which didn’t exist in our caravan. The staff said the Haven website allows you to select options and extras which they didn’t actually have.

TappyGilmore · 16/05/2026 05:31

I think £800 is ridiculous for a three night caravan stay but I don’t think you can complain about the view. It does indeed have a sea view. Why don’t you upload a picture taken from the deck? You’ve deliberately taken it from some distance away from the window to make it look worse than it is.

PollyBell · 16/05/2026 05:40

It has a sea view

Saying a double bed where it has 2 singles, a fridge where it doesn't have one is wrong but it has what is says so no idea why you think a refund is needed

reptilemad1985 · 16/05/2026 05:48

lol we stayed here staff where aggressive and really nasty when asked for clean bedding that had not been left soz but there a shit hole

MyCottageGarden · 16/05/2026 05:50

Notwantanyonetiknowitsme2026 · 15/05/2026 23:30

this was the last seaview caravan we we stayed in which is what this type is supposed to be.

Wow where was this please?

Bellavida99 · 16/05/2026 05:51

The word stunning could be your saviour here. It may be a vaguely sea view but certainty stunning. If you get no luck with Haven for a partial refund I’d take it up with small claims court. Our sea views at Rockley in Dorset and at Hopton were actually stunning

NOTANUM · 16/05/2026 05:55

This is not a front row sea view at all.. Sea view - just about. Front row? There are caravans around you!

I’d complain on site as they know their own layout.

MyCottageGarden · 16/05/2026 05:57

Krevlornswath · 15/05/2026 23:49

I suppose you can try? What is there to lose. It looks pretty poor by comparison to your other picture and what it claims to deliver.

Quite shocked at £800 for a caravan though, I've just come back from 5 nights in Cornwall, self catering in a 3 bed, 2 bath house with (actual) sea views for less than that, we've got Devon booked in June - 3 bed house with a garden, sea views, a few mins from the harbour for £600ish for 7 nights..

May I ask for the link for this please? 🙏

LLDMSO · 16/05/2026 06:05

The trouble with Seton Sands is the main road is between the park and the sea, if you didn’t have the bushes your caravan would be right on the pavement and B1348 with the double deckers whizzing past into Edinburgh.

I’ve stayed there and paid more for your type of caravan for the parking and guarantee I wouldn’t have caravans on all 4 sides of me.

Looking at street view, it’s much worse than you have described. Those caravans have a lovely view of the passing traffic and are really close to the road.
In the OP’s photo, that telegraph pole is on the verge of the road.
That’s terrible.

What's that got to do with the post?

fouroclockrock · 16/05/2026 06:44

That is a very disappointing and not at all stunning view of the sea.

OneFunBrickNewt · 16/05/2026 06:53

Complain> ask for refund> don't accept voucher, cash only.
If not fothcoming, Section 75 via bank or threaten small claims court (it's really easy to do, and you can still threaten it even if you have no intention of doing it.)
That's not a 'stunning sea view' at all.

For £800, you could have driven to Europe and stayed in a nice French campsite.

AllBranGirl · 16/05/2026 07:00

Have you let them know you are not happy? Have you given them the chance to move you or resolve the issue?

TheBeaTgoeson1 · 16/05/2026 07:01

Where is that other sea view @Notwantanyonetiknowitsme2026? Lovely

MiddleAgedDread · 16/05/2026 07:07

It’s never going to have a sea view like the previous one you posted on that site because it’s on the other side of the road from the coast. I’m guessing you’ve also got a great view of the no26 bus going past? 🤣 £800 to stay at Seton Sands, you’ve been mugged!!
