AIBU to compare pro-Palestine and Tommy Robinson-led protests? Both involve hatred antisemitism or racism and both end up in trouble. Two cheeks of the same ass as I've heard on here before!

Pro-Palestine and Tommy Robinson-led protests this Saturday with yet again thousands of officers having to spend the day controling these protests. Surely there is a better way. Static protest or once a month for Gaza? I think Tommy's lot isn't weekly like the Gaza lot.

Antisemitism is a major problem and general racism also up. Armoured vehicles are needed now with the first time in 15 years to use them. Terror incidents have risen yet what have either of these 'protests' achieved apart from further divisions!

Stick them in separate areas and tell them to stand with their various placards and keep them there. They ave their virtue signalling and hate fuelled moments but stop annoying the rest of us and keep the costs down - it's costing millions of pounds.

Met call up armoured cars as London braces for a day of protests

In a package of measures billed as the toughest ever, 4,000 officers will be deployed to deal with the Tommy Robinson-led Unite the Kingdom rally and a pro-Palestine gathering to mark Nakba Day.

The actual figures from the Met:

Unite the Kingdom: 20 arrests, 9 of those for alleged hate crimes.

Pro-Palestine: 12 arrests, 2 of those for alleged hate crimes.

11 other arrests of individuals not linked to either march.

As always, it helps to base claims in fact, not supposition.

Supposition is always easy to come by when it's facilitated by 3 years worth of evidence. Now add up all those arrests made over the 3 years.

Parading swastikas and denigrating the Holocaust memories have been the forte of pro Palestine marches. You're not going to gaslight anyone. Ask any Jew if they felt safer standing in front of TR or ZP' brigade.

And I am just repeating my personal experiences. I saw Neo Nazis on the right and a strong Jewish contingent against Israel on the left.

I agree it’s abhorrent that people feel unsafe for any reason - horrific - and it needs stopping.

I am definitely not saying one side is perfect and the other not - both have problems that need resolving and resolving now.

I am however saying it is more grey at points than a black and white binary position.

Though if you can tell me why there is Jewish support and confidence in Neo Nazis Seig heiling and recommending eugenics and worse - I would genuinely like to understand that position. I’m 60 and I grew up understanding this would never happen.

As if anyone in the middle east actually cares anyway what these people with no cause are doing with their time in London city! 😂 its pathetic all round. Get a job, take your kids out, go to tne pub? do some art!

I’m genuinely interested to know if you have ever travelled outside of the country you were born in?

If there is evidence that pro-Palestine marches over the past three years have been characterised by "prevailing violence", please provide links to it. You're making the claim, so please back it up.

Similarly, please provide documented evidence for another claim, that "Parading swastikas and denigrating the Holocaust memories have been the forte of pro Palestine marches".

  1. I frequently read the Met's updates. 2. The Gaza Green party hides its antisemitism behind ZP's standing.

The poster isn't being disingenuous. They're asking if you can explain why some British Jews would be happy to support people who are neo-Nazis.

I suggest you get your updates from the Met's official twitter page as I do. Unless you're arguing you know best. While you're at it, you will find quite a bit of reference to tackling terrorism, including Palestine Action Group and related arrest statistics. You're kidding nobody but yourself and similar supporters.

What, like the one claiming Israel is a greater threat to the world than the Iranian regime?

This may have been me - I am genuinely interested in the answer - I’ve seen it on a few protests now - it baffles me.

I understand marching for a bigger cause and putting some differences to one side but this just seems irreconcilable to me.

I am told over and over to understand those marching for Tommeh - I try to do this but I ask about the unusual grouping of Neo Nazis and Star of David flags/Jewish support that is really puzzling to me, and get no answer.

You made two very serious claims. I'm asking for data to show those claims are based in what has actually happened. Can you do that?

I rebutted the original claims that the right house more antisemitism than the left. I referred you to the reports from the Metroplitan Police which you seem to want to ignore. Palestinian Action Group is a proscribed terrorist group. The clue is in the name. You compared the arrest stats for Saturday's marches. I then suggested if you took those stats and compared them to total arrests made at Palestinian marches. Oh sorry, we've nothing to compare them too because unlike the Palestinian support movement, the Unite rallies don't take place every weekend.

Tbh I have now seen quite a few very clearly anti-semetic posters being hoisted on the far right March. The Palestinian/counter Tom March had a larger Jewish contingent within it as far as I can see too.

The far right puzzle me when they have Neo Nazis marching next to the Star of David flags - I’ve seen this a few times at different places and though I accept marches can be unity for one specific cause and hold some differing views across groups - I find this grouping pretty wild.

It’s not wild if you understand that one prominent racist element of the Tommy Robinson march is anti-Muslim.

There was anti-Muslim imagery in the form of Templar Knight and Crusade emblems (and a guy dressed as Richard the Lionheart). There were pre-revolution Iranian flags (so anti the current Muslim regime). Israel is engaged in war with Muslims which explains the Israeli flags - don’t assume that those Israeli flags were being carried by Jews. Tommy Robinson himself has wrapped himself in the Israeli flag and he is definitely not Jewish but supports Israel because they are waging war against Muslims.

So in that context, they make perfect sense. It’s an anti-Muslim thing.

Thank you - I can get that - appreciate your time.

It must be a very difficult choice to make.

Going back to the march,

  1. the right wing influencer EDobbins uploaded video of himself basically leering at a young woman. When her mum tells him she's actually 15(!!!) his response is that he's "gonna go to jail in a minute" and that she should "have a warning on her". But it's all about protecting women and young girls right? 🙄 Absolutely gross behaviour.

  2. Tommy Robinson was filmed saying he would 'end Islam' and wants 'remigration for Muslims'. He didn't say end extremist Islam or deport illegal Muslims or extremists who have dual nationality. He is saying the quiet part out loud.

  3. There are videos online of a young woman holding a sign saying "f*k Islam".

I keep being told that the people at the United the kingdom march was about unity but I am struggling to believe that. All seems very anti Muslim and bigoted to me.

I urge people to hop onto Instagram and see the videos from the UTK march. A lot of them are horrific.

HeyHoHenryHippy · 18/05/2026 10:41

Sadly some do not condemn October 7th, a massive terrorist attack against Israel, others support it or excuse or minimise it. I've seen it referred to as 'resistance' (on placards, online and shared by a Green party candidate). Some say 'what do you expect.......', as if rape, torture and kidnap is ok because ...... It is never ok. Rape is never resistance.

The 2 state solution has been on the table before but not agreed on. Is terrorism really the answer to not being able to agree a peaceful solution, I think it isn't.

It’s awful for the communities trying to live peacefully. Hate breeds hate.
