AIBU to find my husband's constant undressing at home annoying?

My husband has asked me to post on here to guage opinions.
The minute he gets in the door he takes his top off, often- his trousers too and will just be wearing pants. He says it is more comfortable.

I'm starting to find it really annoying, once in a while if it's really hot it makes sense. But it is literally all summer and winter. It means he can't ever answer the door, just pop into the garden or grab something from the car. And to be honest, I just don't like it.

Apparently it is completely normal (his dad did it too) and he thinks I would be surprised because everyone does this in their own homes??

You make a good point. Why shouldn't men go to the supermarket in their pants? Or to work?

Well no logical reason really. We wear clothes to keep warm and for protection from injury. Anything more is just societal conditioning.

What about when cooking - chest hair over the pot of chilli

to cover all the examples just wear clothes!

Edited

Well thankfully DP and I don’t have chest hair or any other body hair! 😀 I do wear an apron when cooking on the hob though to protect from spitting oil etc.

I’m talking in general

every one has skin shedding and hair on their bodies

So you admit it needs washing.

Yes of course. If DP or I were sitting naked anywhere we would always have a towel to sit on unless it was our sofa, which as I say always has a blanket or throw on which I regularly wash.

ParkParade · 08/05/2026 19:55

Growing up, my dad and brother used to have shirts off during the hotter months. I disliked it and think putting on loose clothing would have been more respectful for my mum, sister and I.

Doubledenim305 · 08/05/2026 19:59

Laser hair removal is the way to go 👍

You and your partner have no body hair?

We might have hit the jackpot reason here - anyone who doesn’t have body hair won’t be able to regulate their temperature as it’s one of functions of body hair

oh no - EVERYONE is covered in hair except palms soles of feet I believe

Wouldn’t do it - you have hair literally everywhere

your list of things you must do instead of just wearing clothes as a barrier is growing!

Namechangeforthisdilemma1 · 08/05/2026 20:03

This would give me the right ick. Fine in a heatwave but otherwise I’d expect shorts and t-shirt or joggers and t-shirt. So bloody weird to be sat having dinner or watching telly with someone just in their underpants 🤣

Inmyuggs · 08/05/2026 20:03

Wait until you become peri
Stripping down after exercise or housework or anything.
We all wear minimal at home, it is comfy.
Have a pair of pants handy or dressing gown and
Nice underwear
Least he is not nude on the couch.

That is correct - a lot of expensive laser hair removal! 😀

Not really, once it’s done it’s done. The hair follicles are killed off so they don’t grow back.

Inmyuggs · 08/05/2026 20:07

Poetnojo · 08/05/2026 16:54

I've never heard of anyone doing that.
Sounds weird to me.
Dh will usually change into shorts and tshirt when he gets home though. He would never even leave the bedroom if he wasn't wearing some form of top and bottoms, would never even walk around top less at home either.

Weird?
Someone has a hang up

I don’t think this can be done

And defo not a substitute for clothes

Well no, I still have hair on my head! 😁

Anyahyacinth · 08/05/2026 20:11

Makes me think of Bernard Manning...I wouldn't like it and wouldn't heat the house to accommodate it in winter 🤭😂

sprigatito · 08/05/2026 20:12

I’m fascinated by the visceral reactions saying it’s horrible, smacks of low productivity 😱 etc. It’s a man’s body with the genitalia covered up - what’s wrong with it?

DH and I don’t do this, we both feel the cold, he’s a bit uptight about his body and I love clothes - but my early-20s DS2 is very often pattering about in his boxers if he hasn’t got work that day and isn’t going out. It’s never occurred to me to be offended, in fact I think it’s rather lovely that he feels comfortable to do it.

which would shed all the time - I don’t believe you have had laser treatment over your entire body apart from head

anyhow - much easier to just wear clothes!

His partner doesn’t like it and it means he’s not partnering her in the jobs of the house and copping out

So by that logic everyone should be wearing a hairnet whilst cooking? I have to wear a hairnet all day at work due to the nature of my job, I guess I could wear it at home in the kitchen too! 😄
