@MidnightPatrol could it possibly be that “fixing” immigration is not an easy issue?

And yet other countries seem to manage it so well

OneTealShaker · 08/05/2026 06:55

This is very true. These people are obsessed. And totally irrational.

They don’t reflect the real world but like to hijack every thread with their aggressive nonsense. And calling everyone who does vote like them stupid and racist. The numbers are literally telling them the country disagrees with them. Yet they are so blind to it.

To be honest, they sum up far left really well.

You can always jog on, last I heard we live in a democracy.

I’ve just woken up and I’m actually bloody shocked!!! I knew Labour were going to be decimated but I didn’t think Reform were actually going to be the party. I voted Conservative, I would never vote Reform.

I’m shocked you are shocked

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 08/05/2026 07:00

I’ve also been following the Los Angeles mayoral elections where Spencer Pratt (former reality star) is taking on two Democratic Socialists. It’s so interesting!

Sure this is a massive issue but voting in absolute useless chancers and liars would not resolve any of the problems you listed - nor it will resolve the immigration issue.

The reason Reform supporters appear not very bright is mainly due to the fact Reform have done nothing beyond promising something they very obviously can not achieve, they have no policies or clear strategies and some of their ideas are either evil or bonkers. This is a party with no substance, lead by a complete fraudster. Very strange people can't see it.

Agree Reform are incapable of resolving the issues, but seems Labour and Tories are similarly so.

faced with three rubbish options is it surprising that people choose to support the party that are not actively insulting/belittling them.

I thought anyone thinking they would vote reform would find some sensible and just vote conservative.

The real fun/trouble will start when Reform gets itself a charismatic leader.

Farage is saying what people want to hear, but he is missing the charisma that will really effect the numbers.

The right is split as well, so the Tories would do well to start talking.

Well maybe the reason they sound so "nice" is because they have nothing else going for them, did it eve occurred to you?

It probably turns people off Labour even more.

Agree. It nwver ceases to amaze me that posters think the best way to change minds is though bullying, insults and name-calling.

Underthinker · 08/05/2026 06:51

Think you have your maths a bit wrong there.
15% of men and 10% of women makes 12.5% of the population not 25%.

I wouldn't even attempt percentages at this time of the morning though.

Yes I can see that

So double those percentages

20% of women support Reform, 80% don’t

Northermcharn · 08/05/2026 07:04

Foxyloxy89 · 08/05/2026 05:36

Absolutely. I wouldn't want a Reform government but am hoping this will make the current government take the worries of the country seriously now. The people have spoken. Sort out the Welfare Bill, make work worthwhile, abolish business rates, stop building on our green belt and raise the tax threshold. Oh and get the navy in the channel to sort out the small boats chaos. That is what the working people who hold this country together want.

Edited

NO CHANCE. The current government have shown their true wolf in sheeps clothing colours. They do not care about the worries of millions of people in this country. They call them racists and stupid, they've called women who understand biological sex - hateful bigots. Hence we are where we are Keir and Co. Reap what you sow and all that.

Our only hope is the Conservatives in the next GE. Fingers crossed.

AlexaStopAlexaNo · 08/05/2026 06:05

I’m just looking forward to the people in Reform areas getting what they voted for. FAFO 🤭

Edited

Live in a Reform majority place, most people probably won’t notice, although the veneration for (some) flags is off the charts.

localnotail · 08/05/2026 07:05

But I agree Labour, and right wing press amplifying their every failure, has a lot to answer for. Last time this happened we ended up with years and years of Conservative shitshow - now we could end up with our own mini-Trump.

m1ghtl1ke · 08/05/2026 07:06

Reform much like the nazi party promise things that aren’t possible but sound plausible. It’s an old trick. (I’m not calling them nazis I’m saying they are using the same attics”. They also spread hate and division. All your problems are someone else’s fault.

Crocsarentslippers · 08/05/2026 07:07

Coconutter24 · 08/05/2026 06:59

Well they don't really do anything much different to us, bar accept whilst there is a negative side immigration is part of their national identity and can bring a lot of positives, as well as being a moral responsibility in some ways.

The figures speak for themselves, we are way down the list the numbers of immigrants accepted , even when the figures are adjusted for population and country size.

We just have an increasing entitled, exceptionalist population who have a problem with it.

localnotail · 08/05/2026 07:08

I agree about division. This is scary and, again, very reminiscent of Brexit. I remember one of my Brexit voting ex-friends actually gloating because I was upset over not being able to work in Europe anymore.

Oh they will notice , nothing like whining about local gov in Spotted groups. Will be interesting to see the fall out when they see how totally shite Reform are at actually working or doing anything for their electorate- aside from spending £££ on flags.

GreyfriarsJobbies · 08/05/2026 07:09

Like others have said it depends what you mean by 'out of touch'. I have to keep reasonably well abreast of politics and particularly economics to do my job well, and I also just find it interesting, so I'd say I've got a better idea of what's going on and why than most. I think Reform are your typical populists offering simple solutions to deeply entrenched problems, that will actually do more harm than good to their typical voter, and that they are knowingly appealing to the bitter, the ignorant, the hateful, the broken minded, and the lost. The funny (as in funny peculiar), thing is that out-of-touch lefty middle-class professionals like me who are already pretty well off might actually do OK out a Reform government, but as I'm able to see further than the end of my own nose I wouldn't vote for the shysters in a month of Sundays.

Cheesipuff · 08/05/2026 07:10

I’m in Scotland so votes not counted yet but we had 3 hotels of immigrants for much of last year in an underfunded part of the country where tourism is the main industry -so if reform get in it wouldn’t be surprising.

Waitingforthesunnydays · 08/05/2026 07:10

MN is out of touch on just about everything! It’s a totally different set of viewpoints to what I encounter IRL. Eg. Vaping is childish & disgusting, you should wash your towels every time you use them, trans women should be put to death, calling social services on your own family member who’s struggling with her kids is completely acceptable etc etc

Muffsies · 08/05/2026 07:11

In my area (Oxfordshire) there wasn't a single reform candidate elected, they were all miles behind, as were the conservatives.

If you're reform around here, you're the one who's 'out of touch' with what the electorate want.

ChaseTheSin · 08/05/2026 07:11

Without resorting to insults I think a lack of understanding about how the political system works is a huge problem - lots of Reform voters have been quoted as saying they’re voting for Reform in local council elections to “fix the NHS”. I don’t think a lot of people understand the different responsibilities of local and national government. 🙁

I also don’t think a lot of less well off voters who vote Reform understand the catastrophic impact on their lives should Reform form the next government - deep welfare cuts and a private health service will affect the poorest and vulnerable far more than they’ll affect me 😢.
