No other UK political party is wanging on about being a Christian nation and restoring Christian values though.

Edited

It's interesting as I'm an atheist but the most devout Christians I know are horrified by the prospect of a Reform government.

Of course, anecdote does not equal data but it's very hard to see how Reform's politics of hate can really align with Christian values like love and compassion for those in need. I guess it just goes to show that people can test anything to suit their narrative if they are motivated to do so.

I look at Reform, and I look at the people on this thread who are happy to call their voters thick racists, and I dont see much love and compassion on either side.

Mangelwurzelfortea · 08/05/2026 14:44

Same - I volunteer with a local charity that does a lot of teaming up with local churches. I am an agnostic myself but I meet a lot of committed Christians. Not one Reform voter among them - and you wouldn't expect there to be. In fact, that would be weird. 'Love thy neighbour' is the antithesis of everything Reform wangs on about.

Well, that's fair enough. I freely admit that I have no love or compassion for mindless racists, I'm sick to death of them. But then, I don't claim to be Christian.

Would you expect love and compassion from Reform, given that their stance is very much about being hard on anyone who isn't white and/or British? Or are you saying that people who oppose Reform should be loving and compassionate towards people who actively despise them for being 'wokists' and 'libtards' etc etc?

I think you can recognise why they’re doing so well without agreeing with their policies and that doesn’t make a person out of touch.

This. They do well in the same way Trump does well - they allow people to bring their darkest, basest impulses out into the light. Politics of fear, envy and hatred.

However, Labour and Conservatives gave them this on a plate.

I simply do not believe that 25% of adults in our country are mindless racists.

OK.

I could quite easily believe that 25% of the population are either mindless or racist. And many of them will be both.

Is the reform stance to be hard on anyone who isnt white? Is that in a policy document somewhere?

Pray tell us how?

Security screenings, extensive cctv. Just google some countries take border control quite serious!

Well it cannot be as some of the parties top brass are not white.

Really overly simplistic.

Most of this stuff is simplistic thinking I’m afraid. Once you strip back all the bluster and fudging there are some cold hard facts which are often unpalatable.

Poland have it sorted apparently. They didn't mind immigration when they were coming to the UK of course!

How the hell did Russia get shoehorned into this?! 🤣

This local MP talking about inconsiderate parking outside two mosques is Sikh;

https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/birmingham-neighbourhood-friday-prayers-parking-33794781

Right, and does this MP live in the surrounding streets where people park to attend mosque?

ETA as I read the article - the police gave words of advice to inconsiderately parked drivers (as they should) so what does any of this tell us about the PP’s claim that white people know they can’t complain about the actions of any Muslims?

Deluded 🙄

I’m old and see this so many times, people just use these elections as protest votes, as they don’t think they mean anything and I see the press the day after each time saying this means Reform, Green Party, Liberals etc are within reach of winning the next election. Come the next election and all this fuss was just hot air and people vote for the comfortable safe option. Plus if you start looking results, very few of these wins were runaway huge numbers, reforms voter going out to vote, others staying at home.
its the same as it ever was

If Labour are resting on their laurels assuming this is the case they have a VERY rude awakening in a few years time. Whilst I’m thinking it will be a Con/Reform coalition I absolutely know Labour will be out.

Allisnotlost1 · 08/05/2026 15:18

Mangelwurzelfortea · 08/05/2026 13:13

It's a problem in every town (probably most of them now) where the population has grown but the infrastructure hasn't. Most schools were built for a world where all the kids lived locally and walked to the school and that's not the case in most towns or cities now.

Agree, parking is a people issue not a religious one! People are lazy and don’t want to walk, greedy and want to buy massive cars, and then all the variations in between.

Are "the people" you mention claiming to be Christian, as reform do ?

If "the people" are lefties, are they not commie atheists anyway ?

I don't know who will win GE but I would imagine there will be a lot of tactical voting against Reform.

This.

Whether anyone likes it or not, the British vote is going ‘populist’ - Reform are likely to be the largest party, after the GE, but will probably need the Tories to go into coalition with. 🤷‍♀️

Abhannmor · 08/05/2026 15:24

They are averaging 26% . But there's five parties in contention now? I often see anti immigration views on Mumsnet , though not in the majority of posts. Not sure about their other policies apart from flogging stuff to Palantir etc.

That sounds a bit like the political equivalent of "I can't be racist because I have black friends".

They love that line don't they. Pro Palestinians want to destroy Israel. From the river to the sea, and all that jazz (they chant and wave flags as such). Israel is full of Jewish (and other but mainly Jewish) people. If wanting to kill all Jewish people in Israel isn't anti-semitic, then I'm a furry.

And I'm not even going into the original Hamas charter (Hamas who were voted for by palestinians), which talks about killing all infidels everywhere. That'd be moving a bit too far away from the brief for now.
