AIBU to feel unsettled by DH telling me about his soulmate dream?

Feeling a bit odd.

Came home this evening and getting dinner ready in the kitchen and Dh came into the kitchen with a weird look on his face and said he had a really weird dream last night. He started to say it, then kept looking hesitant and stopped saying it, so I said ‘Go on, what was it?’ (thinking please just get on with it, whilst putting food in the oven and rushing around.
He said that he dreamt that someone or something was saying they’d found him his soulmate and the person he’s connected to and that then this man a woman (I think) then started hitting him really hard with shoes and all sorts with really nasty faces
It was just a really odd thing to come and tell me…literally straight away, not after other conversations and then ‘Oh god yeah I had this awful dream last night’ and also talking about a soul mate? What am I, chopped liver?!
I said (a bit angrily) why was he dreaming about a soul mate and he stormed off saying it was a dream

Is this weird? Feels very weird!

I am suprised by some of these replies, dreams are completely fictional and this 'soul mate' does not exist!
I dreamt about having sex with Greg Davies once and I don't fancy him at all!

Brilliant 😂

Yeah, if there were deeper meanings to dreams then a lot of us secretly believe that we failed on class in school and now have to go back and repeat the class or we never had graduated. Also we can't find the classroom that we need to get too.

Or we should go to Sainsbury’s naked 😂

Strangesally20 · 08/05/2026 11:04

Has he read the book The One by John Mars? This is basically the plot! It’s about a new scientific discovery that allows people to find their soul mate based on DNA and it throws lots of people together that wouldn’t ordinarily be together.

I recently went to my local library to see if they had that (they didn’t).

Especially as the OP has said she too has had bad dreams of late.

What do you mean, prayer why?

I'm a Christian and demons are included in Christianity as part of our theology. So my proof comes from the Bible. Of course other potential suspects (like cheese!) should be ruled out before jumping to conclusions, but it's a real possibility that shouldn't be ignored.

What do you mean?? Demons where

It sounds like a spiritual attack. Please pray together 🙏🏿

What do you mean by a spiritual attack

No but he does love Science fiction and was recently doing design work based on the film Dune (I think is Science fiction, will have to look it up)

So I spoke to him a bit more and he said it felt like he had the feeling of family and security and then just absolute fear & betrayal 😔 then said lot’s going on at work so maybe mind over active and that he rarely dreams and that he’s really tired and just wants to go to bed after work
I do though but have had some scary ones the last few weeks…strange. I’m thinking is either covid or mould in the house

I'm glad you spoke to him OP. It sounds really unsettling whatever the cause. Hopefully things will just settle down.

Watchingthedaysgoby · 09/05/2026 01:48

Also, rather alarmingly OP its occurred to me that you should also check for carbon monoxide- do you have a detector?

Eclipsecomingsoon · 07/05/2026 21:45

Why come to tell me straight away

Because you’re his wife..?

Toomanyuglyplasticbins · 09/05/2026 04:39

You seriously asked him why he was dreaming about his soul mate? Like he could really help it! Maybe he was dreaming about you!
I dreamt I slept with Max Bygraves once. No rhyme or reasoning over that one. My dh waa not all put out or jealous of it. Have a word with yourself!

ThatLilacTiger · 09/05/2026 10:09

Omg who gives a fuck about some weird dream. He's boring and overdramatic for telling you and you're wet and overdramatic for caring.

Toomanyuglyplasticbins · 09/05/2026 10:11

Somesweetday · 07/05/2026 21:45

Well i would be put out by this because I believe that there is always a reason for our dreams. That they are triggered by something that has happened or something that we are thinking about when we are awake.

For those old enough to know who Max Bygraves is, I can categotically say that I had never thought about having an affair with him 🤣⁷

When I was young I thought Max Bygraves was great.
It came as a total shock to me when I found out, not too long ago actually, what he was really like.

Yet another lesson in disillusionment when it comes to people in the public eye

OneNewLeader · 09/05/2026 10:26

What sort of shoes?

Why couldn’t you have just listened and agreed it was an odd dream?

Beachtastic · 09/05/2026 10:27

Oh god, the dreams I tell my DH! Usually me having reluctant sex with awful people. It gives us both a laugh.

I'm 60 now, he always seemed old to me. I was only 30 when I dreamed about him so I was horrified at the thought 😅
I too thought he was a cosy, family entertainer who my gran loved, until I read what he was really like

Max Bygraves wasn’t nice? I didn’t get the memo. I hope it’s not anything gruesome. Is this going to spoil the memory of ‘ you need hands’ …. Eeek

Eclipsecomingsoon · 09/05/2026 15:31

Where can that come from though?

Do you burn any type of fuel in your home- gas, wood, coal, oil? If you do then you should have a carbon monoxide detector installed and regularly check that it's working properly. Any fuel burning appliances should be serviced once a year by a person registered to do this sort of work.

Owly11 · 09/05/2026 16:13

Wtaf are you annoyed about? You do understand that dreams aren't literal? It could mean a million different things. The most telling bit of your op is that he knew you would be annoyed by it and was hesitant to tell you. Do you regularly get angry with him when he shares things with you?
