This is a joke post right? Have you come across the news at any point in recent history?

Well I very much doubt my local councillors will be able to bring water , energy or transport back into public ownership in our borough, or introduce a local wealth tax or change our election system,.

So I have voted for those who have the most realistic approach for local issues rather than the anti-semitic pair of goons who have been stirring up the local community on a Gazan platform - again beyond the scope of a local council to solve, or even really influence. And yes, I am 100% clear on the difference between being anti-Isreali Gvt and anti-semitic, thank you. They have crossed the line.

Did you know Zack Polanski is not his real name @ForGreenHiker ??

It's David Paulden.

I'd be interested to know why he changed his name.

It's very easy to Google. He went back to the family name that his father had changed to appear less Jewish.

His family changed it to Paulden to avoid anti semitism, and later on he changed it back to Polanski, to have pride in his identity

It's good to see how many people get their education on political parties from tabloid newspapers and their algorithm then supports the bias they believe...

YANBU OP. Greens are not perfect by a large stretch, but the fact they're being smeared so much and their policies misrepresented shows they're obviously being seen as a threat by other parties....

I hope they do well in these local elections, even if it's just as a wake up call to the larger parties. Those saying Greens will be back for women, I really hope you're not voting for any of the parties on the right...

I haven't read a tabloid newspaper this century.

HTH.

I know it suits you to think people who would never vote for Green are a bit simple/thick, but you're very wrong.

Are you happy about the islamic alliance? Not so great for womens or gay rights once they get a grip. Plus all this talk about wealth tax, do you really think rich people will stay! I live in a council house and if greens got power we'd be off, probably have to live in a van but this country would be even more third world than it already is!

By voting for the only party in the uk lead by a Jewish person. Okaaaay…

He may be Jewish by birth but his values do not align with any ones I know of. Awful, awful man when interviewed by Robert Peston for ITV yesterday said he does not think any country, including Israel, has the right to exist.
'The Green Party leader appeared to suggest that the belief the Jewish state had a right to exist was “semantics”. He also indicated that he did not believe Britain had an inherent right to exist when asked about his views by ITV’s Robert Peston. He said: “I don’t believe any country has a right to exist. People have a right to exist, the Israelis have a right to exist, the Palestinians have a right to exist.”

Why did he change his first name to Zack?

@SunnyAfternoonToday Yes I agree. Something just doesn't add up about him.

Pride in his identity? His family, all bar his mother, have completely distanced themselves from him. That says an awful lot in my book.

Apparently inspired by a character in a Jewish children’s book.

A Jewish person who consistently minimises antisemitism in his own party and elsewhere.

If you're happy with condoning antisemitism/ pretending it doesn't exist then I guess that's also a choice. Not a particularly moral one, but definitely a choice.

It would have been better if you had just acknowledged that the Greens have a big problem with antisemitism, and then explained why you will still be voting for them because eg where you live they are very good on local issues. But that's not what you have said. You have instead elected to minimise antisemitism by finding yourself a lovely little token "good" Jew to champion.

PatsFishTank · 07/05/2026 17:22

I voted Green for years but not any more. Polanski is a clown (as are other politicians, he's not unique...)

I think it's an odd question that can be batted away on philosophical grounds.

The United Kingdom doesn't have 'a right to exist' in its current form in perpetuity because Northern Ireland could trigger a referendum and decide to leave. However, the United Kingdom does have a right to have its sovereignty and borders recognised.

I think it would be better to ask whether Israel has the same rights as any other country and to defend its borders.

Agree. David Zack is just the new Jeremy Corbyn. And I couldn't stand him either!

Same here. It's interesting to see that some of Corbyn's old pals have joined the Greens recently. Whatever happened to Your Party I wonder 🤔

Completely unreasonable. ZP is a self-confessed liar on multiple issues. He's a snake oil salesman.

I don't understand how anyone can be so foolish.

Totally BS

Green policies are potty. We've seen what extreme politics can do (see the mess the US are in,,) and no-one wants it here.

Down with the Greens, down with reform

Support for the Palestinian people has fuck all to do with British elections especially local ones.
