What? No pretty please with a cherry on top?

Just interesting.

Twiglets1 · 12/06/2026 13:03

Political favourability ratings, May 2026

Key takeaways

  • Net favourability towards Keir Starmer (-46) is largely unchanged from last month
  • Kemi Badenoch’s latest net favourability score of -17 is her highest to date, as well as the highest of any Tory leader in five years
  • 27% of Britons have a favourable opinion of Nigel Farage, while 64% see him unfavourably
  • 50% of Britons now have a negative opinion of Zack Polanski, up sixteen points since last month
  • Andy Burnham remains the most popular Labour figure among the public, with a net score of +4, and is the only figure a majority of 2024 Labour voters see positively

(Keir Starmer's popularity may have taken a turn for the worse since then considering the current upset over Defence spending).

You are obviously not a Waterboys fan! Which I am and it's from one of my favourite songs.

"Now the world's full of trouble
Everybody's scared
The landlords are frowning
Cupboards are bare
People are scrambling
Like dogs for a share
It's cruel and it's hard
But it's nothing compared to what we do to each other"

YouGov is due a new survey about now. More in Common and Opinium who have done their June surveys have her at -8 and -4 respectively. Meanwhile Starmer languishes at -47 and -42.

Not the worst news.
Kemi is having a good week (again).
Slowly but surely creeping up the polls.

I am wondering for Makersfield, not that sure that AB is going to win it.
Between the shy Reform voters, and the Restorers who probably hate Labour more than Nigel (?), I wouldn't say it's in the bag for Labour.

And at the current of rate of scandals and incidents, there will be a GE before 2028. Even if AB manages to become leader, things will be blocked just the same, because of the PLP holding the PM to ransom.

Upstartled · 12/06/2026 13:36

I think the restore vote will be what delivers a, I was going to say Labour but actually it's just a Burnham victory. That's my best guess, anyway. I guess we'll know this time next week.

EasternStandard · 12/06/2026 13:38

Twiglets1 · 12/06/2026 12:58

Disagree. She is the best thing about the Tories at the moment and they showed no sign of wanting to get rid of her after the Tories did badly at the local elections, in stark contrast to Labour.

Yep. I think Labour / left are grasping at straws on that one.

Smeuse · 12/06/2026 13:39

If Badenoch said she likes The Waterboys, you would be agreeing with her Wink

Upstartled · 12/06/2026 13:43

No man, I don't care who's shovelling that, you can keep it. It's right up there with, well I don't know what, that's quite something.

Never heard of them.

Just read those lyrics yeh I’m with @Upstartledon that

Smeuse · 12/06/2026 13:52

It was meant in jest but I seem to have touched a nerve.

No nerve @Smeuse. Just the back and forth of a conversation when people are happy to answer questions.

Why would you think that? The lyrics below are a bit depressing.

Ooh. Tricky one! Maybe she does. The Whole of the Moon is quite famous.

Maybe you'll find this a bit more cheery. Or maybe A Bang on the Ear. Or The Pan Within.

🤷🏼‍♀️ Folk rock whinging - it's not for me. It certainly didn't make it into the school disco in 1991, that's for sure.

Upstartled · 12/06/2026 14:44

Still though, I'd tolerate that over the nasal tones of Keir Starmer delivering his whatthreewords election promises.

I never knew people would be so triggered by The Waterboys. I might fill the thread with Waterboys song suggestions.

Upstartled · 12/06/2026 14:54

Triggered? 🤣 No. Sorry, it's just not my cup of tea. Have at it though, no skin off my nose.
