Are you all happy with Badenoch's Spectator interview, especially her remarks about Farage and Lowe?

Kemi on X this morning:-

First the Defence Secretary resigned saying the government is making the country and our troops less safe.

Then the Veterans Minister went, saying the government is abandoning our veterans and it’s harming our national defence.

It’s clear the armed forces have lost all faith in Keir Starmer. A Prime Minister who cannot command the respect of our military cannot continue in office.

Britain’s national security must come before Keir Starmer’s ego. The Prime Minister’s time is up.

Yep. Spot on.

Time to go.

In the interview she said she wouldn’t do a pact with a more right wing party. The interviewer felt she might do one after the GE but Kemi didn’t say that.

However she did indicate some affinity with Rupert Lowe in terms of he works hard, unlike Farage in her opinion. There is personal animosity between her & Farage going back some time so I can’t see those 2 forming a pact.

I wouldn’t be happy with the Tories forming a coalition with Restore, no. But for one thing Kemi hasn’t said she would. And for another thing, Restore only have one seat in Parliament at the moment anyway & it remains to be seen how they will perform at the next GE.

Get Kemi on a private one to one and I'd wager she would have more favourable things to say about both of them. She's certainly more politically aligned with them even though she wouldn't care to admit it. Lowe is a grafter and Farage a shirker? Maybe. Lowe does seem more pragmatically invested and wants answers; he's not a showman. A Tory Reform coalition is what I would like to see right now. Kemi providing the much needed political precision but keeping her head about her. Farage as consultant and Lowe as her deputy. That's my dream team. For now, Restore is in danger of handing Burnham the Makefield win.

Kemi’s top team look like some fairly normal human beings. I can’t see how KS can survive this but he appears to have few morals and little regard for public feeling so I’m sure he’ll hang on.

It might only appear a minor thing, but I look at the difference when Kemi is speaking compared to Starmer. Lammy and the rest of the cabinet sitting like sleepy nodding dogs when Starmer is in action. They look so despondent and dejected. How are you meant to be inspired by that lot?

Yes, very happy thank you.
Kemi has described the interpretation as "bullshit". I trust her words more than the interpretation of the journalist. Tim Shipman is usually better than this.

It's anyone but Labour for me. If Farage requires a coalition to form a government, I'd rather they did it with the conservatives than Restore, wouldn't you?

That is a very low bar.

Personally, I would like to see the Tories appealing to their one nation voters and stand up to Reform/Restore.

But it is good to see where you all stand on a Reform/Tory coalition.

Where did she say that, please? On Twitter? So she is saying Shipman lied and she wouldn't make Farage PM?

Yes, it is good, isn't it? You asked a question and look at how easily people were able to answer it without an outcry that you were provocatively asking questions about our PERSONAL opinions. Look at how easy that was?

TheLandlordsAreFrowning · 12/06/2026 10:36

I found her bullshit remark on Twitter, backed up by a video that has clearly been cut. Shipman insists he was right to write what he did.

I suppose we will find out who was lying if Reform win the next election, but fall short of a majority.

However, the Tory leader took to X to dismiss the claim, writing: “This is bulls---. What I ACTUALLY said is we ‘cannot have another Left-wing government. But I’m afraid that Reform has quite a lot of Left-wing ideas’.” She added that she had been clear on “deals, no aggression pacts and so on” that the answer was “no, no, no, no, no, no, no”.In response to a separate post on X from Lee Cain, a former Conservative No 10 director of communications, who also claimed Mrs Badenoch had opened the door to a confidence and supply deal with Reform, Mr Gove responded that it did not “reflect what Kemi Badenoch actually said”.http://archive.today/IK3Qk

True we can’t have another left wing gov, Kemi is right in that. This one is bad enough.

Any further left and the markets would make it unviable. And the rest of the social unrest that would follow more left wing policies.

Made what up? His interpretation of what she actually said is not accurate. The Editor also says that what people like yourself are suggesting does not reflect what she actually said.

Kemi has had a very good week, and some are obviously very unhappy about that.

TheLandlordsAreFrowning · 12/06/2026 11:22

@WaffleBomb Kemi's week, good or bad, is irrelevant at this point three years from a GE and has no affect on my mood!

I am unhappy about the attack in Belfast and what the people of Belfast have gone through as a result, stoked by certain politicians who Kemi looks rather favourably upon. That is far more important.

EasternStandard · 12/06/2026 11:24

Some won’t like Kemi no matter what. They’ll keep attacking and perhaps it will see a Reform / Restore gov in instead.

I'm glad she's ruffling feather though, thats a good sign.

I wouldn't say he was wrong to write what he did because he was expressing his opinion. Journalists are allowed to have opinions - paid for them even.

What is wrong is people misinterpreting Shipman's opinion as something that Kemi said.

A lot of time I think people comment without even reading the interview or article in question.

Agreed. It was easy to give our personal opinions and to respect that our opinions aren't all identical and that's ok.

He did write that Kemi would help Farage into No. 10 if needed. I have actually read the article!

If Shipman has deliberately misinterpreted her, then perhaps the Speccy will print an apology?
