Which Tory PMs does this include?

If you are asking for details of someone's personal voting preference or history, and you want a serious answer, it is good to use words like "please" or phrases like "if you don't mind me asking".

Ionlymakejokestodistractmyself · 12/06/2026 12:06

Kemi seems quite good at telling everyone what they're doing wrong without actually saying much about what she would do right.

She (and Farage) also had a huge go at Starmer for not backing Trump fully on Iran. If she'd been in power would we be taking fire from the Middle East by now?

Tricky question ok, how about this one. As a Tory voter what do you like about them?

No, because Kemi never suggested being active in a war with Iran. She said we could support out biggest ally by offering access to our military bases. An action that Starmer sanctioned like a heart beat later.

Oh EasternStandard, you really need to read my pp more carefully! Now let's not derail the thread any further.

Huh it was a one word answer to do you vote Tory? - yes was your answer

Did you say no?

Um, are you sure about that? some Kemi quotes that she swiftly backtracked from...

"The US has taken offensive action to destroy missile launch sites to defend British territory. Why will the Prime Minister not allow the RAF to do the same?"

"Why is he asking our allies (US and Israel) to do what we should be doing ourselves? I say to Labour MPs that we are in this war whether they like it or not. What is the Prime Minister waiting for?"

My post of 11:58 in response to you. Not my response to WB.

He did write that Kemi would help Farage into No. 10 if needed. I have actually read the article!

If Shipman has deliberately misinterpreted her, then perhaps the Speccy will print an apology?

What he wrote was his opinion. Not what Kemi said.

I doubt The Spectator will need to write an apology because he was open about the fact it was his opinion.

People are misrepresenting the article though to suggest Kemi said it.

Well, our bases in Bahrain and Cyprus had been hit. Asking our personnel to just sit there like lemmings and not act to defend themselves was cowardly.

He said she "made it clear" though.

Anyway, it might be a moot point. We don't even know if she will still be leader by 2029. So much can change in three years or less, as we are seeing now.

EasternStandard · 12/06/2026 12:46

Starmer is more likely to be out than Kemi. Voters who wouldn’t vote Conservative anyway should worry more about their issues.

That's his interpretation. Have you seen the interview? She did not make it clear and if she did he would have the proof of what she actually said in the article.

Agree that Starmer is way more likely to be out before the next GE than Kemi.

Upstartled · 12/06/2026 12:50

If Burnham wins Makerfield, Starmer will be dumped long before Christmas.

Kemi is obviously in for some attention because Labour / left are struggling. Deflect, deny their own issues.

Good on her for rattling those who oppose her.

Is the whole interview available somewhere? I have only been able to find edited snippets.

I have to admit I find Kemi hard to listen to. It.Is.The.Way.She.Often.Speaks.As.Though.There.Is.A.Full.Stop.After.Each.Word.

Yes it's available in the Spectator. You can read it for free just by giving your email address.

Yep. It is inevitable that Starmer will be gone soon. But I still think Kemi might not be around by 2029, unless the Tories' polling improves. Which it might well do.

In your opinion, I think she speaks well.

Disagree. She is the best thing about the Tories at the moment and they showed no sign of wanting to get rid of her after the Tories did badly at the local elections, in stark contrast to Labour.
