When I think of a middle class home I think of a period home, Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, bay windows, high ceilings, proper hardwood floors, original if possible, big rugs, open fires with original fireplaces or wood burners, a range cooker, ceiling roses, original features, coving etc, eclectic furniture a mix or some modern some antiques, lots of books/bookshelves. Colour, texture. Not white shiny, or grey. When I was a student I used to walk home past houses like that there was one with a mum and child often practising piano together and it was just like that and it always looked so warm and cosy. Very different from the part of East London I grew up in!
