As several people have pointed out (and the linked site explains) much of the furniture and effects in these photos, included the wall art, is not real. It's generated by AI decorator software and the results are quite laughable in some instances.

The agents include this imaginary stuff to give an impression of what the place would look like if currently occupied.

That's a generic disclaimer and doesn't look to have been used on this listing though. AI wouldn't generate crumpled beds and Liverpool FC signs

Sharptonguedwoman · Yesterday 08:29

When I was a child (different era, another life) these would have been aspirant lower middle or middle class, I think. They were pretty common but house prices weren't so loony. For my taste, this one has been over done. Vast sterile kitchen and the wallpaper is a bit much. Nice house, lacks warmth. (These are just my opinions).
Just seen it's AI. Oh. Anyway, lower middle to middle.

or is it just run of the mill these days?

It's on an estate, vero overlooked I would say not middleclass. Expensive but not value for money

TeflonBoot · Yesterday 08:35

Depends how you are defining class. Could be classed as upper working/lower middle financially. Culturally, working class.

Forthesteps · Yesterday 08:37

What did its parents do for a living? That's crucial. If they were manual workers it remains Proudly Working Class whatever exists now.

Bubblesgun · Yesterday 08:41

@Inburess i love how the sink in one of thr bathrooms is being propped up by green boxes.

nice ish house yes middle class but very generic

But it would generate a fan pointing directly at a wall (pic 23) and a 'home office' with an implausible number of monitors overlapping in ways that would give Escher a headache (pic 24). Several pics also have that weird flatness of CGI. It may not all be AI, but some of it very definitely is.

OP a new build will bring out the snobs. Whether it’s to someone’s taste or not they would clearly subconsciously know the owners were middle class, not exactly going to have a member of the Stonem family from Skins living in it is it?

What's a dumpty?!

It's a footstool or pouffee.

I wouldn’t say there is any class when it comes to that house 🤢

You’re a real charmer aren’t you.

Onelifeonly · Yesterday 08:52

What a bizarre discussion! All the houses I've bought in my life are Edwardian / Victorian terraces in North London. The first two were definitely ex 'workers' homes but at least one is now in a highly sought after area close to the tube and you need to be quite affluent to afford them (unless they've been in the family since the 1970s or whenever).

Current house on a larger scale so I assume a wealthier type of family would have lived here originally.

Re mortgage comment earlier - it's doubtful that anyone buying this place would be a first time buyer, so they'd have built up equity over time and wouldn't need a mortgage on the full price.

This is such a weird question. We used to live in a similar Redrow, but I'd say us and most of our neighbours were working class people who happened to have done reasonably well for ourselves. Not sure having a big house can actually make you middle class?

Where we live now I would definitely say most of our neighbours are middle class - old houses, older cars, spaniels and labradors as pets, posh accents, pianos and shelves full of books. We bring down the tone a bit!

I didn't know that dogs denoted class. That is worthy of a whole new thread. 😂
That house is middle class with tres nouveau riche interior. Quite a small garden. But middle class covers a whole range, from new builds to country cottages to semi- detached and depends on the area.
I suppose Giles on gogglebox is middle class. His house is quite cluttered and tatty. I'm just waiting for all the hate because I watch a ' lower class' TV programme.

I completely disagree. I'm very familiar with AI and the home office picture isn't generated. None of them are.

Kelticgold · Yesterday 09:00

Do you mean middle income?

What is a working class house?

Anonymouseposter · Yesterday 09:00

It’s the house of a very comfortably off person. Most people couldn’t afford it. As for class it depends how you define middle class.

Not from scratch. The rumpled beds you pointed out, and the piles of clutter in the corners of the pic 23/24 office are definitely real. As is the lawn. But they've taken a lived-in house and done a photoshop cleanup (blurring photos and taking out other identifiers, probably improving the light) that has given it that uncanny look and a few bits of odd perspective.

Dogs are definitely class linked. Probably more than houses, because there are fewer factors constraining choice.

Well, I don’t think I would want to be introduced to you all the same. I don’t really do female lines , I find them a bit ordinary. I wouldn’t mind meeting some of your titled relations however, so would be obliged if you could just provide contact details and I’ll take it from there. I’ll say I’m a friend of yours. 🤣

Oh well, your loss.
The women in my family tend to be a lot more interesting than the men.

Nope. There's a 360 tour with the same details such as the strangely positioned fan and computer monitors, and there isn't an AI tool capable of creating complete 360 tours. I maintain that generative AI has not been used in these photos.

You’re a real charmer aren’t you.

The question is what class would you say the style of house is. Nothing about it says class to me.

I could have wrapped my thoughts up in a nice comment and maybe said “It’s very Dunelm Chic” but the meaning would be the same

Boolabus · Yesterday 09:22

I'm not in UK but price tag would be, where I live you would never get a house that size or in that condition for that price. It would be a million plus

flagpolesitta · Yesterday 09:24

Haha I like Dunelm, I also think this house is perfectly nice and, although I’d tweak a few things, I would be over the moon to live in it. Not sure what that says about me?

Also nobody has answered my question about whether my aunties vast collection of interesting fridge magnets from every holiday/travel/day trip destination, ranging from Skegness to Majorca and beyond, count as ‘evidence of travel’? 😃

Anonymouseposter · Yesterday 09:29

I’m sure that whoever lives in that house will be very comfortable and happy and enjoy their hot tub. I don’t think they’ll be too concerned what anyone else thinks. It’s sad when people have to curate an image and display evidence of their travels etc.
The happiest people suit themselves.
