House, possibly, although more Nouveau Riche than Middle Class tbh.
Interior, no, it's more Dunhelm Mills than it is John Lewis.

John Lewis 🤣

The way it’s decorated is plebby. could be she works in a bank, been there years, and he’s a white van man that employs a few people.

Rupert Campbell-Black read Dick Francis.

I would love a kitchen island. Especially if RCB was on top of it 😁

I love this thread btw. Most of you are nuts but in a very entertaining way.

Yes Rupert. Typo.
In the later books he studied o level literature. But he was generally an ignoramus, expelled from boarding school I believe. Part of his charm. Don't remember him having sex in the library, but he probably did.

I also think he read the racing times (post?). And I'm just assuming he had sex in the library, since that was the whole point of him, really

Sounds like the library was the only thing he never entered

AnnaQuayRules · 03/05/2026 19:15

I'm not quite sure what you mean.

I'd say that DH and I are middle class but our house looks nothing like that.

I've never really thought about houses in terms of "class" unless you're talking about places like Downton Abbey which is the preserve of the upper classes (and yes, I know it's fictional).

Do you mean Rupert? I believe he was a great devotee of Horse & Hound. And I'm pretty sure he had sex in the library.

Who wants to start a thread about what class is it to have sex on a kitchen island?

Factors that would need to be considered:

status of partner
whether the family silver is housed in said kitchen island
is the housekeeper present
island surface (polished marble and quartz, lc, marble stained with Daddy's excellent claret, mc)

Gossipisgood · 06/05/2026 14:40

I think it really depends on where in the UK this house is as 'Class' can vary in different parts of the country. A home for that price in London is probably average, middle class. where as a house like that in the North East would be very upper class.
