You can't just call another person evil though OP. No one will take you seriously.

I think the word evil seems huge to people - like somebody evil should look like Dracula. Hannah Arendt made the point that evil is “banal” - it’s just ‘following orders’ or ‘going with the flow’. Perhaps her best words on this are “Evil comes from a failure to think.” It is not the inevitable sequel, but ZP is certainly modelling it.

Op you keep refusing to give answers by saying things like, you wouldn’t listen or you wouldn’t believe me. Starting to think you’re just being goady. Why not use complete sentences and verbalise thoughts properly is you’re going to start a thread.

Let me guess what your answer will now be……🤔

What is your specific question?

Unlike someone running around stabbing people?

That’s not what I said. You claiming that I did makes you look a little foolish.

I'm sorry but yabvu

My heart goes out to British Jews, always ❤️. Its terrifying, especially in areas with a big Jewish population. A man was just walking and minding his business and ended up running from a crazed knife man! Insane.

You dont kick a mentally ill person in the head when arresting them though?! He was on the ground already. It seemed racist to me, but i didn't want to start a thread.

Still, thats not the story. Hope the men are okay and well and know that Britain is on their side

Perhaps you would like to join the police and show us how to disarm someone on a stabbing rampage without harming a hair on his head? Didn't think so.

This man had been stabbing people, still had his knife and while human instinct would be to run and protect yourself and your loved ones the police have signed up to go wading in and make the situation safe. They did a great job.

Agreed although I believe few on MN have read Hannah Arendt.
They're more like social media soundbite types.

ThatCyanCat · 30/04/2026 13:25

I had someone the other day telling me that the idea that he was parked in place as a puppet to "disprove" the Greens' antisemitism was the most absurd thing they'd ever seen on here. I think they really thought they could convince someone. I almost feel sorry for them. It's like when a child still desperately wants to believe in Santa Claus, if Santa Claus was heading up a vicious, dishonest, misogynistic and Jew hating party.

I'll admit I didn't know much beforehand about how to neutralise a dangerous knifeman who's just stabbed two people, still has the knife and could be carrying a bomb or anything else, while keeping your hands free to hold your weapon or do whatever else is necessary, but goodness me, apparently trained police officers do. Who'd have thunk. Brave, brave men. They could have been blown sky high at any moment for all they knew.

People don’t want to click a link to The S^n. So, yes, people will be assuming things here.

This isn't a sun exclusive. Anyone with access to the internet can find this information from whichever news source they prefer - even, the Guardian.

user7463246787 · 30/04/2026 13:26

Unarmed police restraining a man who refuses to drop the large knife he’s been stabbing people with. Very real chance he’s wearing a suicide bomb. I’d suggest his head is the only place they can attack without potentially setting off a bomb that kills many bystanders. These situations are highly charged and fast moving, there’s no time for doing a quick risk assessment. Their priority would and should be stopping him doing further harm.

KTheGrey · 30/04/2026 13:26

glitterpaperchain · 30/04/2026 13:18

How do you drop a weapon when your muscles are spasming and you are not in in control of them? What do you think a taser is?

What do you think they should have done? I have never had to disarm a bloke who has just stabbed two people, and I hope I never will, but I am glad there are people who know how to and can do it when necessary.

Whysnothingsimple · 30/04/2026 13:26

LittleJustice · 30/04/2026 12:31

I did watch that video and thought what on earth are they kicking him like that for.

So I don't know whether he's evil or not but they shouldn't have kicked him no matter what he did. Once they had overpowered him.

But he wasn’t overpowered he had a machete, You have zero concept about what people are capable of. He had been tasered twice, he had attached the officers. They needed to ensure everyone was safe. This guy is not a reasonable person, if armed police had arrived they would likely have shot him.

if you have such great ideas about how to behave in such circumstances go and volunteer as a special police officer, a couple of shifts you’ll soon appreciate why the officers did what they did.

He's been privileged & safe as houses all of his life, as have most of his ilk. People like that don't understand that the most effective way to get a person to drop a weapon is to attack their head. Hands will instinctively open in an attempt to protect the head. The police were quick & effective. A job well done.

Yes, gay Jewish men are famously never subject to prejudice or discrimination.

It’s obvious that kicking a suspect in the head is going to draw attention, the question will always be whether it was proportionate to the risk.

Polanski is unreasonable for pre-empting the inevitable question that will be asked internally by the Met.

@coulditbeme2323 is unreasonable for calling Polanski evil. What words are left for the actual attacker if a commentator is ‘evil’?

Exactly, The Sun has nothing to do it.

It's not an opinion piece, it's lifting direct quotes from his social media.

Some people don't have the brain power to understand it doesn't matter if it comes from The Sun, The Guardian, The Metro etc

Wouldn't expect anything less from the man that wants to legalise date rape drugs.

JLou08 · 30/04/2026 13:27

Evil is the wrong word, nothing about what he said is evil.
It is very stupid, narrow minded and thoughtless. He should be sent to spend some time with officers on the street and get an idea of the fearful situations they have to deal with where they have to make split seconds decisions to keep themselves and the public safe.
There should be no judgement about how the police manage a killer. Police brutality when there is no real threat is completely wrong. Reacting on instinct when your protecting people who are at immediate risk of being killed is completely different.

I believe you have misunderstood the evidence I was asking for

Selectimg multiple terrorist sympathisers as candidates suggests that there are plenty in the electorate they are trying to appeal to. What kind of person do you think would vote for a party whose deputy celebrated the October 7th attacks, and who thinks that legal action shoule be taken by it's own party for suspending (some of) it's antisemitic candidates.

Oh you’re one of those posters who come back with baseless insults. Strange.

Happyjoe · 30/04/2026 13:30

I don't know if kicked before or after he was under control, but to be honest, it's very easy to complain when looking from a position of safety. Emotions, fear would have been very strong for those facing this situation and despite training, they are human. Thanks to the police, no more were stabbed, not for want of trying.

ColourThief · 30/04/2026 13:30

Police can and should use their absolute discretion in disarming and restraining a violent suspect. Once restrained, kicking him is wrong, for reasons that shouldn't need to be explained. Nobody feels sorry for this pos, but we should be able to trust the police not to mete out unnecessary violence.

He wasn't 'Restrained' He still had hold of the knife which he had just used to stab people. And God knows what else he could have had on him. I think the police did a great job under the circumstances.

Muscles don’t always contract in the way you’re describing and in any event, what do you suggest? They go over and undertake a considered assessment of whether he’s not dropping it because of the taser? Complete clueless.

Edited

Yep clueless.
